For all you people out there that think the engine sounds need to be improved because the mufflers dont seem to make a difference, try this. Buy a new jaguar XKR and only buy a racing muffler, BUT DONT INSTALL IT! leave the rest stock. Now test it in run and settings at laguna or whatever. listen to the engine.
now start the race over and go to settings>change parts and change the normal muffler to the racing one. Listen to the difference in the way it sounds. If you ask me, the engine is alot deeper and fuller sounding than before. Maybe in GT4 the sounds could be a little louder but the whole muffler ordeal doesn't need to be messed with or changed. Tell me if really can tell the difference. Another car to try this with is the aston martin DB7 Vantage (the one you can buy)

Yes, you're right the sound changes on all cars when you install a different muffler.. But I think that the sound on a car with NA stage 3 and racing muffler and so on should be louder than it is and almost make you turn down the volume. I also want more misfiring engines on low rpms like the 787.. it has a nice blur..

That would probably be the thing i missed most from rallisport challenge and pro race driver, backfiring engines. If anything, thats something they need to put in GT4.

I also notice on license's that some cars sound differen't because they are all stock. But the NSX sounds louder then a fully modded. But that might just be because since its accelerating faster, you don't have as much time to hear it.

one thing that i think they can improve on with the exhausts is to show the size of the muffler. like for instance, the stock muffler's tip is pretty small, but as you upgrade it i think they should make it bigger and bigger. a racing exhaust's muffler tip should be about the size of the muffler on the Nismo R32 S-Tune. cuz in the game as it is now...just by looking at the muffler you cant tell that its upgraded, and thats not true to life cuz in real life the stock sized muffler would greatly hamper your hp output.

yep they should do something about that, at least give the pipes a decent look e.g. the race nsx:s expipes looks very square, don't they? Just as long as they don't put a 5" exhausttip on a civic, that is..

Well the only thing that angers me is the fact that you have a 480 horsepower Honda Integra Type R, and the exhaust is the exact size as stock. Not very realistic in that aspect either, hell Auto Modelista, and Wangan Midnight were more realistic when it came to exterior features.

They already let you change the wheels, so making the muffler look different wouldn't be a big deal at all. That'd be pretty fun if they'd just go all-out and pander to the ricers... Let you get body kits, different wings, Z3 fender vents, decals ... maybe bring back the race mod from GT2 in some form.

Yeah, it should be different than stock when you're putting out that much bhp.

If you think the sounds in GT3 are bad, go back and play GT2. I did about a month ago and I could not believe how horrible it was, compared to GT3 that is.

Yeah, I definately noticed a difference. That idea with the size of the pipe is good, too. Personally, my pipes are pretty big.
