Fiancée (fee - ahn - say)? It sounds so incredibly pretentious! I can't take it! I don't really mind when other people use it, I just refuse to.

Yeah. I guess the word does sound fruity. But what it names isn't. When I was engaged and I ended up in a situation where I had to decide how to call my now-wife I used finacee and felt weird saying it. But I also felt weird saying girlfriend.

Remember the Sienfeld episode when they go to the party on Long Island and that annoying woman keeps saying fiancee five times in every sentence just because she liked to show off and hear herself say it? Pretentious.

I actually think that this and only this fuels my hatred towards the words. "Beth, have you seen my fiancee. I cannot find my fiancee anywhere! Where is my fiancee? I've lost my fiancee - the poor baby!"

Of course, Elaine then comes back with one of the best TV lines in recent memory.

I don't like saying it; but "girlfriend" sounds so temporary, and we're not legally married yet. So it fits. I usually just say, "Kathy".

Although we act like it, some have told us...

Well, it's about 3 hours to the rehearsal (and eventual dinner). Almost everything's set, except I've got to get a card for her. And wouldn't you know it? There are no card for a potential groom to give to his potential bride. Why I am I not surprised at this?

Well, I'm bringing up this thread because I've got another 45 minutes of work, a day to arrange a few things, the wedding day, a night at a nice hotel on the beach, and finally the honeymoon. So I'll be back around July 5th or so.

Keep the light on for Mr. and Mrs. Lintz upon returning. :)

Good idea! But I have to actually think of what to say in the card! (Actually, that's the easy part.)

I'll be at not-quite-Orlando's WallyWorld, for those keeping score. July 4th ought to be fun; with no driving around in crowds worrying about drunks.

Congrats! :) And do forget to have fun (though I don't think you're the kind who gets nervous easily ;))

Thanks, and I will.

I'm not nervous, after all, I know all the people in the crowd. What's to be afraid of?

Eating the same pie everyday for the rest of your life. But I suppose garunteed pie is better than no pie at all :D  j/k ;)

Congrats man and best wishes,.. it sounds as if you'll do great

Our wedding was a blast, because we no longer cared what could possibly go wrong. Everybody was late, there was fog so thick I couldn't see the hood ornament of my car, etc. None of it phased us at all - too late to agonize about it.

Have fun and enjoy yourselves! I'll start tinkling my spoon on the side or my glass now... Best wishes, pupik!
