Is this possible?

The reason I ask is because im a bit of a hardcore nut, and I love using the cockpit when driving, especially with the bouncing of the cockpit etc. :)

but my dissapointment comes when others dont use it, they will use bumper cam or hood/roof cam instead as these views are much easier.

Although I could sit in the cockpit im just handy-capping myself whilst racing.

Is there an option? or if not has anything been said about adding this option in a future update?

The cockpit view angle make it feel not realistic for me, I prefer to use bumper/roof view.
I used to race in cockpit view in FM3 tho but in GT5 I really dont like that view. On race car it's just ridiculous.
I'm using cockpit view on the x-1 tho cause it's perfect.

We need hood view...Some cars are almost undrivable in cockpit view because of the shaking/blind spots. Like the newer vipers and such. In real life they suck to drive but it's just a chore in game to try and find where you are through those tiny windows. Its quite a handicap if you're in something like a STI or a Skyline where the cockpit is awesome and someone else is stuck in one of those cars that has the ridiculously small windows and bad view angle.

My biggest cockpit gripe is the WRC 08 Citroen rally car. I'm sure the sticker up front is transparent in real life, but in-game you can only see out of about 30% of the front window, awful.

I really dislike cockpit view, when I'm driving a real car, I don't "see" the cockpit, I see everything outside the car. In my opinion "bumper" cam (which I'm almost positive is at driver eye level at the center of the screen) is what I SENSE when driving in a real car. Your brain filters out most of what's in the cockpit unless you actively look at it.

If the game was hooked up to a full motion VR headset that covered my total field of view then I would think diffrently, but Bumper cam for now best recreates the driving experience.

I couldn't disagree more.If anything the cockpit view is slightly too narrow. No matter how hard i'm concentrating on the road i still see the cockpit.Bumper cam has more of a feeling of speed but it it sure isn't more realistic than the cockpit view ,it's not even close IMO.

I agree that, if you ARE in cockpit view, there should be an option to hide the wheel and hands if you are using a wheel controller (a car with TWO steering wheels? I don't think so!).

But there's a totally different experience from sitting in a real cockpit with a fair degree of head movement, and stereoscopic detail (although both of those are options to those fortunate enough to own the hardware) and the visual REPRESENTATION of that. The way the mind works, as you focus on a particular task, your perceived impression of the size of that view gets larger. It's a perceptual thing, rather than an empirical thing.

But the static cockpit view, in its' attempt to give you the totality of vision from your seated position, it makes everything look too small. Even though it's a photograph of what you REALLY see, it's not a representation of what your MIND sees. Kind of like listening to the world via a mike and headphones, rather than just your ears. You will always hear a ton of things on the mike that your brain filters out when you are just listening with your ears.

Me, I prefer Hood Cam, but feel it isn't represented in GT5. We get Bumper Cam and Roof Cam, but no cam at EXACTLY eye height for each particular car. That's what I would call Hood Cam, anyway. Other games have it, and too be honest, a racing wheel controller and a big flatscreen showing Hood Cam often gives me FAR more a feeling of being behind the seat than Cockpit Cam, simply because, when I'm concentrating on driving, that's ALL I am really concentrating on.

Sometimes, accuracy of pictorial representation isn't REALLY the most accurate way to depict experience.
