Why is it that in a competition (time trial or the GT competition) I'm supposed to compete against people with superior equipment that sways the momentum so securely in their direction it doesn't matter if I make it my 20 hour a day life's work to beat them, I still won't?

Shouldn't there be a controller-only time trial leaderboard? If you've got a wheel it's without question that you're going to dominate me because of the nature of the equipment, it's not fair. We're not seeing who the best is by any means, we're just seeing who spent more money towards that end.

"But Shark, life's not fair!" Mhm, but logic dictates that you learn nothing about a driver if one driver has better equipment than the other giving them an insurmountable advantage. Same equipment, driver skill shines through.

Me with DS3 < guy with steering wheel, all...day...long.

I would LOVE to participate in the time trials. But I can't seem to give a crap because I know I'll lose. Limit the input options to controller...let me get rolled by a controller genius. I'll feel a lot better about things.

Allow me the justice of being murdered while I play on my 27in CRT tv (non-hd) with my DS3 by others with a controller, not some guy with an arcade in his living room with a 900deg steering wheel, gearbox, racing seat with 3 monitors, and pedals.

You wouldn't ask a Civic Type R to race against an F1 car would you? They're not in the same class, allow that logic to affect the time trial setup pl0x, I'd at least get some more enjoyment out of things.

Im a DS3 user too, I just race trials because of money... If you want you can add me and have some DS3 races.

im a ds3 user too but i dont let the wheel users bother me. i like to do the TT to see if i can achieve the leaderboard. this latest tt in the ferrari, i was in the top100 when i last checked and that was with the pad..

Forced?

Forced to save up money and buy a wheel? :)

So go buy a wheel.I race with lots of people with controllers.They race just fine.Maybe it's your tuning?

Also, just as an FYI, there is a thread around here that claims DS3 users have the unfair advantage. ;)

Just as an alternative opinion to consider, here is the thread.

@Clio182
I just might do that. :)

@sgllocal
Top 100? /bows

@BlacqueJacques
Believe you me, I want a steering wheel. Right now's a bit rough financially. Stuck in a 1 bedroom apartment with 4 people if that's any indication.

They don't force you to do anything. You've chosen to play with inferior equipment.

They don't make Civic's race against F1 cars, but since you've decided your too cheap to buy an wheel, you've essentially brought a Civic to an F1 race. Nobodies fault except your own.

Online it's about fun, it's about learning and improve your skills... nobody force me to do it, and enjoy even if I lose on a very regular basis :D

I wouldn't doubt it for a second. Perhaps I blame the input when it's the one operating it. >_> I would like to take the steering wheel variable out of it though. That would let the true standings show.

And I notice a lot of people are using literal semantics with my statement of being "forced" to do trials with wheels. That's not meant to be literal. I realize that I do it for fun, I used the word for effect. /nod

False. Too cheap implies the money's there and I don't spend it. Way to flame up though. It helps the thread when I'm trying to get legitimate answers and possibly find people such as myself.

1) Buy a wheel, a DFGT is only $120 a relative bargain compared to the price of video games.

2) Compete in the drift trials instead, they are dominated by DS3 drivers

So that means that if I don't have a wheel is because Im cheap? I think there are more important things in life than buying a wheel. I don't have a wheel because Im still paying my car.

It appears there is a plus and minus to the controller but dont let it get you mad. I used it at first but found that I am not good enough to keep my line so I got a DFGT. It helps immerse you into the game more so if the opportunity presents itself get a wheel second hand.

He didnt choose to be in his current financial situation. He wants a wheel but not everyone can afford to spend money on one.

Should they split up Wheel and DS3 to be fair probably. Will they...no. In all honestly if your than into you should save you for a wheel, its part of the experience. I picked mine up a month or so ago for $204. I understand that most people don't have that kinda money to through around but if your that serious about the game you should be serious about getting a wheel, bottom line. Even if you have to come up with an ingenious way to set it up, I only used a flip down table and it works.

PS you better work on your technique if you can't beat people with a wheel using a controller. I've done it before and I've never cracked a TT under 5,000.

Ok so I pay a mortgage,2 car payments,college tuition for my son,blah,blah,blah.Save your money and go buy one.Do you think I wasn't in your shoes many years ago!

There are more important things than placing at the top of the seasonal time trials too. So what's your point. If you want to be fast at THIS game you need to invest in a proper rig.

If you want to be fast in Autocross you have to invest in a fast car. Your mom's Chrysler Town and Country ain't gonna cut it.

If you want to be fast in street cycling you have to invest in a fast lightweight bicycle. Your Huffy from Walmart ain't gonna cut it.

If you want to be good at shooting pool, you'll have to invest in a decente cue. The warped house sticks aren't going to cut it.

Notice a pattern here? Life is full of choices and compromises.

That's not what I meant, I know I can save to buy a wheel. What I meant was that I prefer to use that money in other things instead of buying a stupid wheel.

Ok then don't complain.Use your stupid controller then.Probably your set-ups but that's another conversation.💡

I don't get it. You want PD to spend developer hours to create content just for you...because you are too cheap to buy a "stupid wheel". Nothing in life is free buddy. You're lucky you get seasonal content at all. PD doesn't have to continuously update the software. There was no contract that stated we'd get updates to bugs when we purchased the game. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Buy a wheel, or learn to drive fast without one.

...side note, there were DS3 drivers that made it to the top ranks of GT Academy...so it IS possible to race fast with a controller...you simply don't have the skill or time to develop the skill.

That's fine and I totally respect that decision. Just don't come online looking for sympathy and asking for a handicap just because you've made the choice that other things are more important than being fast on GT5.

That's not what I meant, I know I can save to buy a wheel. What I meant was that I prefer to use that money in other things instead of buying a stupid wheel.

Then buy other things.💡

Come on guys learn to read, Im not complaining about anything, the game is fine for me as it is. Im just saying that for me there are more important things than the wheel.

PFFFFF!!!

i laughed... but it's true. lewis hamilton doesn't complain that vettel has better equipment than him, he just keeps saying that his needs to get better

Then there are more important things than winning the TT...so deal with it. Life isn't fair.

Derailed thread is derailed. Feel free to close it nao, people clearly can't speak on this without getting fiery.

He's using the standard ps3 controller. It isn't an "inferior equipment".
So he's just choosing to not use the EXTRA equipment. Even if he's not really choosing, lol.
Anyway, i'd like a ds3 only leaderboard, just to know your level in the ds3 world.

But i don't think it's going to happen, sorry shark but you/we can just accept this, "simulators" = wheel, and gt5 now is living thanks to them("hardcore" players with a wheel), the casual players have already leaved the game so i don't think they are interested in ds3 users.

But like someone said, be on the top of a leaderboards does'nt mean everything, just look at the people cutting on ttgt for the mercedes challange. You CAN have fun with other players online even with a ds3.
Maybe in serious competitions you can't be really competitive...but, well.
