Well ya know the M45 weighs 4020. The Lexus does weigh less than 4000, though. But hey, neither of those are AWD weights.

I'm not sure how heavy the MKS--they didn't say. But I'm assuming it's at least 4000.

And it's AWD. And Ecoboosted. So it is win.
 
My mistake. I was thinking of the Zephyr. Stupid alphanumeric naming schemes.
Though, I guess it isn't really that heavy when it is (much) bigger than the long wheelbase version of the LS460.

Yes. Suddenly there are so many cool Ford cars with turbos and stuff that I don't know what to post where!
 
I think Ford is finally starting to do things right. Let's hope the awesome doesn't end with the recession.
 
America is turning out so many good cars I'm losing track of them. Especially the ones that are actually in production.
 
My honest opinion is that they need to either axe this car or the Taurus, and then stick the Taurus front end on the Lincoln, or the Lincoln rear on the Taurus. The result would be the best thing to come out of America since god knows when.
 
Mmmm that Lincoln is indeed super sexy. I can't even imagine the awsomeness of the EcoB powertrain with AWD.
 
Maybe it's just me but I still think that every car in the Lincoln line up has a distinct lack of presence and seem that they would blend in too well.

I'd give it two years when we actually see the awesome cars in the showrooms before we can say this. We're still running on essentially the same line ups that got us into the mess we're in right now.
 
Still... Freakin' awesome. The MKS seemed to be very well-accepted even with the "lesser" 3.5L V6, but the resounding complaint was that it needed more gusto. Having that much power, with AWD, and no loss in fuel economy?

Simply put, no matter how great the Town Car was, this makes up for everything. The car already looks amazing, the engine makes it that much better. I'll be the first to say that I know they won't sell a ton of 'em, but you can bet that people may actually consider a Lincoln against a Lexus or BMW for the first time since... Well... Ever.
 
I just had an awsome thought...how brilliant would the MKS be in all black with AWD+EcoBoost? Even Jeremy Clarkson would like it.
 
Make a 6-speed stick an option and it would be... Well...
 
A 6spd manual as an option would be epic. This could theoretically be the best luxury saloon for the money on the market with a proper 6spd manual. 355bhp + 6spd + AWD = epic super mega ultra turbo championship edition win! :D
 
So I'm still lost in all these cars. Is this a competitor to the G8?
 
No, this is too lux to compete directly with the G8.

In fact, this would be more of an STS-fighter although it may steal some CTS sales as well.
 
I see, so more or less CTS fighter because the STS is crap right? I mean, what could the STS possibly challenge? I bet that if Buick gets the VXR version of the Insignia things could heat up.:dopey:
 
In size, the MKS is a direct hit to the STS, but in price is more a competitor to the CTS.

Also, it is a Lincoln, so it's a very nice place to be.

EDIT: And on further looking... Well... I see no reason to get the Caddy. Especially not with the coming EcoBoost six. The Linc's interior looks miles nicer, the Linc looks better outside, and I'd almost bet the Linc rides best too.

Looks are a matter of opinion of course, I really like Cadillacs, but admittedly with the ecoboost 6 and AWD the Lincoln will probably perform better. If I wanted peformance though, there's always the G8. So in terms of luxury cars, maybe the Lincoln is indeed better. I don't know what counts with luxury cars, my definition of luxury includes lots of leg room.

As much as I like the Caddy's interior (and I do actually) the Lincoln is just a better place to be. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised to see the return of the Cougar...now you can start salivating.

It would be a lot of "if, then" situations to be able to compare the Cadillac and the Lincoln against each other. Simply put, most of the Cadillacs are either too big or too expensive, and otherwise do not come equipped with a similar level of performance equipment. The closest thing to the MKS would likely be the CTS 3.6 DI AWD, albeit a slightly smaller car overall. That is going by performance standards, and overall luxury... The STS, despite its updates, is not up to it (I think).

Cadillac, as far as I can tell, have neither a forced induction version of the DI 3.6 or a new V8 program coming, which is a disappointment. They're going to need more power, because lets be honest, having the USS Ford shoot its 10" cannons across the bow of the DKM Mercedes is sure to start some kind of arms race in the near-future. Which is all too bad, because the HMS Jaguar could have had it too.

(I need to stop with the naval stuff)

Caddy's switchgear looks cheap. In THEIR pictures of it.

I mean, the Lincoln's not TOO much better, but it's an improvement.

Because the Lincoln handles like a huge boat, and is at its heart a DTS/Avalon/Lucerne/Azera competitor that was essentially designed to replace the Town Car?

And then GM would build a Firebird, and then Chrysler would revive the Plymouth brand just so it could start selling Barracudas again. Sounds like a plan! 👍

And that's going to persuade the average luxobarge buyer to not buy the Lincoln, and instead buy a CTS which most likely rides noticeably worse?

I said that I see no reason to buy the CTS or STS. If I'm going to buy a luxury car, I'm going to buy just that... A LUXURY car. More power, better looks, nicer interior, I'm sold.

Then I pointed out that handling is not something the average person who would cross-shop these two at all would consider too much. The Mark S would be automatically assumed as the less sporty of the two while the Catera Touring Sedan would be assumed to be sportier and better handling.
