anyone know of a race and drift tune for the ford escort rally car, sorry if this is in the wrong section but couldnt find anything anywhere....

Not sure if this will help, but since noone has tuned this car in GT6, maybe looking at a GT5 tune could get you started? @CyKosis1973 built this great tune for the Escort Rally Car for a FITT competition in GT5. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...r-challenge-by-mch.260406/page-5#post-7496565

Either use this as a starting point or head over to the Clueless Tunes garage and make a request for the car. If I recall correctly, Cykosis1973 has a real liking for this car.

Thanks @Motor City Hami, that was one of my favourite Shootouts. I've actually been tooling around in a variety of 4WD cars recently, all on tarmac though. Might be time to hit the dirt again :sly:

We've got a couple of days off from the World Cup, let me see what I can cook up. @randyrockstiff, are you wanting to run this car off-road?

this is the tune ive put together for it but im sure theres more that can be done for the car to be better, so if you have any ideas that would help then i am more than grateful for the help, i posted this yesterday but its vanished lol

let me know what you guys think and what can be done to make it better

thanks

I tried out a few rally cars for a race at the Ring a while ago, not the Escort unfortunately.

The specs were also lower than your maxed out car so this advice might turn out to be no good but I found each of those I tested to be better with low initial torque (between 5-8 front, 5-10 rear) and the torque split between 45|55 and 50|50.

Might be worth trying.

I gave this a spin yesterday, just to see what it's like. Notable differences with my car. I added Stage 3 engine tuning and limited back to 500PP and ran on RH tyres during tuning/testing. Straight off I found your tune to be too soft and too low. Through most sections of the track the car felt good, but when the suspension was subject to load and lift you found yourself in trouble. This was most noticeable in the Karussell.

Normally what I like to do at this point, is take the numbers someone has used and rearrange them so the car better suits me. I couldn't really do that this time, so sorry about that, but it did force me to use some of the tools we've now been supplied with. I ran a clean lap around the Ring with a soft setup and recorded my lap to view in the datalogger. In the datalogger, I use Set 1 to view the G-Forces and turning angle, Set 2 to view the four wheel speeds and Set 3 to view ride height. The first thing I tried to ascertain was the amount of travel the suspension was using. Turned out to be over 120mm (ride height scale showing -60mm - +60mm). I raised the ride height 60mm above the bump stops, left the dampers soft and started incrementally adding spring to the front and rear. My aim being to reduce the frequency with which the car bottomed out, with each spring rate change I recorded a clean lap and went back to the datalogger. This process is somewhat tedious, if anyone knows how you can do this at the track, please let me know. I didn't bother trying to set a fast lap, I was only looking at certain reference points around the track. Once I'd stiffened the springs enough to reduce the movement range to -40mm - +40mm, I started increasing the dampers to further smooth the drive. Once the car felt and looked like it was maintaining good contact with the road I started to fettle the wheel alignment and diff to improve rotation and traction.

Disappointingly, I couldn't really cure its desire to spin in the Karussell, which is hugely frustrating. Around the rest of the track it feels pretty solid and enjoyably pointy, but if you're off line through there, you're going to spin :irked: What's more frustrating is I have an Impreza GT300 that goes through there without a problem. I appreciate that the GT300 cars have a bucket load more downforce, but the contrast is quite stark. There's still something a little 'Essex' about it, going into a corner you can be pretty sure it'll be nice to you, but there is a chance it might glass you :indiff: Running on RS tyres, this is even more pronounced. There's acres and acres of grip, but when it goes it goes quickly and usually violently!! All of which makes this the perfect candidate for throwing down some of those Highland roads of yours :mischievous:

Tested offline only, no aids, other than ABS1, grip reduction set to real.
No oil.
Engine Stage 3.

i can remember this tune lol, i just got the ford escort again after i turned on my ps3 to find everything deleted. game saves the lot so ive had to start from scratch :( rather flippin annoying. so time to give this car a thrashing lol maybe @CyKosis1973 could look back over the car with me and see what we can come up with. or even any suggestions.

It deserves some time being spent on it 👍

it sure does brother, its actually my dream car lol or the xr3i. i love all escorts. so going to put some time into this car. im still thinking if i want the back end to kick out going round the corner or try make it pure grip. personally i lick the kick out lol small tap of the handbrake and your sorted. what would you recommend @CyKosis1973 as i know that you aswell enjoy this car.

I'll take the car out for a spin in the morning, I fancy hitting the gravel. It might be an interesting experiment to build a car that works on both tarmac and dirt. I stumbled across a thread in the race series sub-forum, where some guys are running auto-x style racing. They go to particular tracks, such as Nurb GP and deliberately cut certain sections of the track, chopping between tarmac and grass. I'll have a look and see what tracks, tyres and PP they're running 👍

So, despite a terribly lazy weekend, I did manage to take the Escort out for a blitz, but I never made it to the tarmac. I think I may have rediscovered my love for gravel. I'll post my settings for the car as soon as I can, but it does have a slight issue with the front end losing all grip during the up-hill hairpins at Nordwand. I was testing at the G Trail, being only a 2min track @500PP, but that double-hairpin section is also part of the K Trail. Not sure if it's wheel alignment, springs or what, but I suspect, as it's during the up-hill section, I'm not getting enough weight over the front wheels. It seems perfectly OK in tight corners elsewhere, provided you provoke the car enough. Any suggestions as to where to start looking at solving that problem will be greatly appreciated.

What would also be hugely appreciated is a decent gearbox. I don't stand a rat's chance of making a decent fist of a gravel gearbox for this game. You can see how I built the car in Post #13, no oil, Engine Stage 3 and limit to PP. Currently I'm using the below (I will verify this):

Reset to default.
Final Drive to 5.500
Max Speed to 137mph
Final Drive to 5.000

It's OK, but perhaps predictably, 1st and 2nd gear could do with some work :indiff: I'll post my suspension and diff settings shortly 👍

{Cy}

EDIT: I've not had time to make any adjustments to counter the vague front end, so here it is as I finished tooling around in it. Tested at the K Trail, grip reduction set to real. ABS1, driving line on, all else off.

Is this a dead thread or can I get in on this action?

I'll build this car in a few minutes and give her a run on Eiger.

Rallycross is life! :D

na its not dead bro. we were trying to come up woth a good tune but @CyKosis1973 and myself have been kind of side tracked abit with FITT and @CyKosis1973 brilliant idea of BTCC. All help on this build is appreciated brother.

Have at it, fella, there's a dirt setup further up the page and Randy has put together a gearbox. I've not tried it out yet, but it'll undoubtedly be better than what I've been using. I've not been able to find the race series I stumbled across a while back, but it'd be pretty cool to build something that can cope with a spot of lawn mowing :sly:

Yeah, I've been somewhat sidetracked from this. Not only has the FITT contest and the BTCC replicas got in the way, but I've been fighting with my IT provisions, whilst trying to capture and post some videos of us racing the BTCC cars the other night

Let's see what Ron comes up with 👍

After a quick test drive I'm not so sure. This car highlights what I don't like about FF. Id rather spend my rally time in a 4wd.

i wonder what we could do to transform this into something spectacular. dirt/tarmac/rally cross as long as its good lol

Are you driving the right car? The Escort is 4WD. If you've been driving a Focus, I'm gonna drop a fart grenade in the basement and drag one of the tool trolleys over the trap door..!!
