I just swung by the ford.com and you're right. It looks like all the entry level trucks, excluding most SUVs are called "XL". That does tell me though, that Ford will never call new Excursion a "Expedition XL".
Yeah, that's absurd. The whole idea of doing that is stupid. Lord knows they can't reuse the name Excursion though - the public heard 'Excursion' and thinks 'wing mirrors that could kill a vulture'. The next Excursion could have a 400cc 2-cyl and no doors and people would still stay away based on the current one's reputation.
