Bought a 2002 fiesta £550 (bargain) 111000 miles and the problem is the engine sounds incredibly tappety, almost sounds like a diesel is this normal? because the engines are ancient

The 1.3 OHV Kent is permanently tappety. It's a design feature.

Get some Wynns HLA additive if it's bothersome. It won't do much, mind

permanently tappety Hahaha that made my day oh well ill have to Some of that addative thanks i appreciate it

You may want to check your oil as well. Low on oil = louder engine

Yeah, the OHV engine is tappety. That's just how they are. Mine is tappety and it only has 58k miles, and my friends is the same.

Kent engines go back to the 50's-60's so they use old technology so are a bit rattly. :)

A Duratec 8v is a bit better than the Enduras (for noise). 👍

They came out of the factory tappety :D I had one from 35k and it was the same.

You can always hear a Mk3 Fiesta 1.3 coming. Or a Ka.

Yep. :p Actually, my Dad's friend just bought a OHV Fiesta for his son, and my Dad actually told him to make sure the engine is tappety.
