HELLO, everyone. This is the first time I post thread here. Being a freshman, I need some help about FORD gt..THIS car is really awful, if i gas too hard, the car will begin spinning and uncontrolable, especially in GEAR 1 AND 2..

TO drive this kind of car, what kind of driving style i should practise?
hope someone could help me, thanks so much:dopey:

Don't gas too hard. Remember that the throttle is not a full on/off switch.

It is mostly practice. Take the Ford GT onto your favourite track and do laps until you consistently land a quick time.

Some cars in GT deserve a good wheel. That can help you stear little better, gas and brake.

I've learned the hard way (and will be reminded again I'm sure) that cars with a lot of horsepower demand a different driving technique than a lot of the smaller engined vehicles in the game.

Part of what you are encountering may be not having a proper setup for the car to match your driving style. However, most of what you are experiencing is simply a result of a lack of experience. I don't mean that rudely.

I've had a lot of trouble with the higher horsepower cars and oversteer. And, usually I find the only way to overcome the oversteer tendancy is to spend a lot of time with that one particular car on one track learning when and where I can go full throttle versus when it's better to coast or feather the gas a bit.

Don't get discouraged. Even the fastest drivers in this game have to "re-learn" to drive when changing to different vehicles.

You can find some suggested tuning setups in that section on these boards. Rather than worry over the car's tuning, I recommend you first learn to handle the car in its default settings. Then, you'll have a better feel of how changing the car's settings affect how it handles for your driving style. Good luck!

Which one are you driving... the tuned one or the GT06?

Can't give you any advice on the tuned one, but the un-tuned GT06 is one of my favorite cars in the game and although it can be challenging it is relatively easy to drive once you've had a bit of practice with it (always assuming you're using a wheel and pedals that is... wouldn't fancy it with the controller).

Set-up wise, the rear suspension should be hard and the front soft (I'm using something like 3/5 front and 10/10 rear for spring and dampers). While you're getting used to it try using a lot of positive rear toe (>+0.3) as this will help contain the lift off oversteer (as you get more comfortable with the car you can wind this down).

Then you need adopt a certain driving Style;

Firstly, the GT06 will try to spin when the weight shifts to the front - ie; when you brake or when you lift off the gas. So whilst your getting used to it you need to brake in a straight line and not jump on and off the gas pedal - be smooooooth! You can balance the loose rear end with some gas - if it starts to slide apply a little throttle as this shifts the weight back to the rear tyres and grip is restored... but not too much throttle or you'll spin!

Secondly, you need to always try to have a little throttle on through the corners - even when you want to coast on a trailing throttle you should be just feathering the pedal if at all possible... this is a fine line... a bit too much and you'll understeer, a lot too much and you'll oversteer (spin).

Eventually you'll learn to balance the car on the throttle, easing the gas (or using some left foot braking) to tuck the front end in to the apex, then using a bit of power to balance the car mid bend before smoothly applying the throttle and powering down the next straight.

THANKS SO MUCH!!! I spend a morning on S8 which drive FORD GT on HIGH SPEED RING, at last I GOT A SILVER CUP, I will try my best continue driving like that.. thanks everybody who gave me advice

Silver is great,if you want more, only practice can help... use always the higher gear for better traction (if you use no traction control),for example in an 100 km/h corner you can use the third gear and not the second...

I think you play @standard physics? and joypad? don´t know how the driving is with that,i use a wheel and pro physics and the tip with the gear had helped me to have a better control...

When I first started driving the GT GT5P I spun every corner. I hated it. Now it's one of my favorites. I'm still not as fast in it as some here, but I love driving it.

I've had my share of frustration with the Ford GT also. All through GT4 and into GT5P the car has always seemed to do at least one thing at the "extreme" level, such as maddening levels of lift-off oversteer coupled with a too-aggressive LSD setting, causing the car to transition from snap-oversteer to snap-understeer even more quickly than the Yellowbird (this was in GT4 obviously). Then GT5P came along and the car suffered from the touchiest throttle I ever experienced - but once you learned to handle that it was actually a beautifully balanced car. Now, after the August update, all the car does for me (in stock form) is understeer terribly. I pretty much decided not to bother trying to conquer it this time around because I just hate understeer so much (and I'm not going to put much effort into trying to learn to drive a car which I no longer enjoy). I'm waiting on the next major update before driving it much, in hopes they put most of the "wild" back into this now too-tame beast.

But (see, there is a point to this rambling), the trick with managing this car has always been just this: Tune the driver, not the car. (Actually, this is a pretty good philosophy in general, IMHO). Just get in the thing and practice practice practice and eventually, after enough laps, you'll suddenly realize you've conquered it.

So true - I wouldn't say I've completely tamed the beast but I have gotten to a stage where I can at least get in the cage with it and not have my throat immediately torn out :nervous:

It's only taken me since GT1 to get this far too - I reckon by the time I slot GT10 into my PS7 I'll be the king of Ford GT

Then I'll try a different car :D

Just try to be gentle with the throttle at the corner exits and such. I thought it was really tough in the beginning as well, and I think everybody with the Sixaxis have had a hard time.

Welcome to the forum by the way! :)

The Ford GTLM has become my favorite car in GT5P, but it still reaches up and bites me all the time. Even though I have countless hours in it, it still takes me 5-10 laps of warming up in it before it comes back to me. Too much throttle when the front wheels are still turned is one problem it took me a while to get used to.

Practice and a good tune are equally important.

GOT IT. Maybe FORD GT(stock version) is a freshman's killer but really a good training car. Yesterday I drove other cars such as R35, SUBARU, MINE'S GTR etc. I found my most records were improved 1 or 2 seconds, thanks to GT:sly:! GT is a unbelieveable car which gear 1 can push more than 100KM/H.. now I NEED practice and practice more though I only have a SIXAXIS

THANKS, Great help!

SORRY, ENGLISH is not my NATIVE language..I can't express well
I mean maybe FORD GT is a rookies' killer..

Any car is a "rookies killer". The Ford GT is like Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire - it kills indiscriminately :sly:

Read the forum this morning & gotta tell ya as one who had all but given up on the beast it inspired me to give it a new try on HSR800. Armed with a friends setup I flew all over the place, till finally it happened I started running laps BETTER than in my tuned Vette. Friend advised me to put R1s frt & R3s r did the trick.I recently started using DFGT wheel actually had more fun than I've had in a long time. The best thing about driving the Beast is it wont let you lose focus,if you do bad bad things happen.

That's the reason I love this car so much. It's also the reason I fly off the track from time to time, for no apparent reason :D

I've just tried it post update, and it's a different animal. :nervous:
Haven't got time at the moment, but it's gonna need some serious tinkering.:grumpy:

Edit:
Just to add - it was fine free-lapping, but on-line it was a different ball game. It's not a properly formed opinion yet though, as I forgot to re-select manual gears, and was lumbered with auto.
