Take note North Americans: The Ford iosis MAX concept that will debut tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show features the evolution of Ford Europe's Kinetic styling language that will be featured on the next-gen Focus. Why should you care? Because Ford has officially stated that North America and Europe will once again be sold the same Focus when the next model debuts

Article continues here (press release and hi-res photos as well)

Kinetic is evolving, simply put. I'll take it. Well, minus the awkward sliding door thingies. Those are just weird.

If it's the MAX version, most likely it's a preview of the next C-Max.... not necessarily the Focus itself.

Oh, is this a preview of one of the monsters in the next Dr. Who episode?

Kinetic is evolving, simply put.

It's not evolving, it's making their whole range look the same. I bet that within a few years the Mondeo will have gained the same deep grille as the Fiesta, Ka and that thing above.

Ford: slowly turning their range into an uncohesive, gloopy mess. Nice one :indiff: I've quite liked their whole range since the mid Nineties until the last few years when they've slowly being making the Focus boring (RS excepted), the Mondeo huge and not as chiselled as it's predecessor, the Fiesta messy compared to the pretty Mazda 2 it's based on, and the Ka just uncohesive and dull.

Huge ridiculous grills haven't worked on pretty much any car they have been tried on. So why do they keep trying?

That's a Focus? Maybe it's the grille but it looks a lot smaller or MPVish than the Focus should IMO.

Nah, it's not the MkIII Focus. For instance, the grill is far, far, FAR to big to make it anything like a Focus. Also, it looks WAY too high for a Focus. And that window-to-sunroof does not look like something that would go on a Focus.

Both the most recent Fords, the Ka and Fiesta (and the Kuga for that matter) all have large grilles. Don't be surprised if the Mk3 Focus goes the same way.

Also, it looks WAY too high for a Focus.

I agree, but again, this is just a concept so details from it are very likely to appear on production models, including the next Focus, whenever Ford decide to make it.

And that window-to-sunroof does not look like something that would go on a Focus.

What makes you say that? It's not too dissimilar from the new Fiesta, so once again, don't be surprised if the Focus follows the trend. Just because it doesn't look like a current Focus, doesn't mean it won't look like the next one...

Fiesta Mk7 is to Fiesta Mk6 what Focus Mk3 probably will be to Focus Mk2.

NOT. ENOUGH. HOOD.

Looks like a minivan. or much smaller than it is. or both.

Again, guys, this is the Iosis MAX, which most likely points to the styling direction for the S-Max, not the Focus. While some detail cues may carry over, the shape, proportions and shape and proportions of those styling details may not.

So it IS a minivan!!!

That'd be an "MPV," if we want to use the proper tag. They've been talking about sending the S-Max or C-Max here for years, and now that we are going to be building the Kuga, it seems like a semi-distinct possibility. But, overall, its generally showing the design direction for the new Focus.

Other than the concepty details, and the *cough* MPV proportions, it's alright. I'd like to see a proper hatch/saloon,though.

That's.
what.

I've.

been.
trying.

to.

te-e-ll.

you.

Although MPV is much more accurate. It's too small to pass for what laughably counts as a minivan nowadays (seriously... the only way they can classify as mini is in comparison to a Semi), but it's close to what passes for an MPV in Europe... albeit a short wheelbase one.

I'm having a heck of a time finding it, but there were some renderings that surfaced the other day for the Aussie-market MKIII Focus that were absolutely horrifying. Take this, add a dash of Peugeot 207, and it looks like the mutated offspring of Jason Voorheis and Joan Rivers.
