Ford Mustang VS Chevrolet Camaro

...How much does a Unique Performance GT500E with 600 BHP go for these days?

...Note that once the car got to Berger, it was stickered for $65,8750. Most of the folks paid between $60-100K for their ZL1s depending on how decked-out and souped-up they were. I think the most expensive example I saw topped $85K with the Berger price. I have no idea what they are going for today...

However, I do know that the last of the Berger SS 380s sold for about $40K with the Hot-Rod Magazine package...

Ok then, $65k is reasonable. But anything north of $70k isn't. I don't know about how much that Mustang costs but I still wouldn't pay it. The $40k-45k for the GT500 is the most I'd be willing to pay for a Mustang (sticker). I just don't see the point in driving around town in a race/dragcar (practically). Unless this is some rich (wo)man's idea of a weekend cruiser then that's fine--a daily driver is not a good idea.
 
I'd say its worth it. Given how rare it is, along with the outrageous power supplied by the C5-R's 427, and the overall sleeper nature of the car (assuming you ordered it without some of the rather gaudy options that were available) it is a screaming deal.

Then again, for the same price today you could buy yourself a Z06 for that price. But, you could build your own version of the GMMG yourself pretty easily, say less than $40K overall with more than 500 BHP.

The closest model is a 575Bhp with a 427 and will run you $139,000 as a starting price.

While I would never pay that much, I would pay the amount for a Super Snake. $214,000 for 725+Bhp (with an optional s/c!), and in a rarity of only 75 models. That's not per year. They're all gone as well.
 
...I belive they built fewer than 100 of those ZL1 Supercars and their Dick Harrel variants, but I can't be completely sure.

I like the Unique Performance GT500E a lot, but by days end, I think I'd rather go with a ZL1 Dick Harrel eddition.
 
Today, it's probably cheaper too. Though I think they're targeted towards different consumers.

1 is for guys who are more into the old classic Shelbys or have money and like the remade Gone In 60 Seconds (I would fallinto this category.:dopey: )

The other seems to be for guys who like that body, and want a nicely setup drag machine.

Really? I just can't understand why people like the remake so much. Nothing insulting. I just don't know.
 
I did. I thought it was an overall good film, though the chase scene was never as good as the original.

I think that is where it got me. Sure, the acting is miles and away better than the original. But the original was set on this earth for the car chase, and the one in the remake is just pathetic, not to mention fake in a couple of spots. Can we, however, agree on whether or not the remake of The Italian Job sucks?
 
I didn't think the new "Italian Job" was that bad. It was kinda good in the Ocean's 11/12 sort of way. Something where you have to pay attention, and overall you have a good time.

I'd like to see a redone version of McQueen's "LeMans," but it probably won't happen any time soon. The only other good car movie that could ever have any kind of hope of actually being somewhat good again would maybe be "Smokey and the Bandit", but even then, it would be hard to top the origional without the '77 T/A.

It was ok, but yes, the original is by far superior. I only hope Hollywood does not get drunk and decided to make a 2nd out of nowhere.:dunce:

YSSMAN, LeMans should never be remade. No one fits McQueen's role in it, and I don't think there are any cars today that can modernize the film and still give it the excitement that was the original. Plus, they'd probably end up making the actors talk. That movie made me respect non-speaking movies to begin with.
 
...I don't think the "Italian Job" did well enough in theatres to make a squal, but I hear the ride at the Paramount theme park is pretty awesome...

(I wonder if it is better than the F&F ride at Universal?)

In the spirit of the VS threads here's another classic rivalry. The Firebird/Trans-Am is not included in this topic nor is any other car. Same rules as the Lamborghini VS Ferrari thread, no saying "neither, give me 'X'". Let's keep it civil here please. I'm not going to post pictures of each generation because I'm too lazy--if you need to know what they looked ike goto www.ebay.com then to eBay motors.

I'm going to vote Ford Mustang mainly for these reasons...
  • Changed the car industry as a whole offering a reliable sporty car for very little money. Still has the single year sales record?
  • Was never killed by Ford like GM killed off the F-body in 2003.
  • Has always had better interior build quality when compared with it's rival.
  • Looked good more of the time over most generations.
This is a tough choice, and I am a former Camaro owner but the Mustang overall just appeals more to me as a whole. While the Camaro has always had better performance and a better engine--in my opinion the Mustang's styling won out for me in the end.

Oh and I came up with this idea while hunting for a low mileage 2002-2003 Mustang GT coupe or 1999-2001 SVT Cobra to trade my Focus in for.

this is a hard 1 its more based on personal pref than anything and it all depends on what body/engine your comparing because in reality and 3rd gen with a 5.7 will slaughter any fox stang stock for stock the stang boys will lose as they say no replacement the maro boys have an even greater advantage when they stepped up to the lt1/t56 and once again even better with the step to the ls1/t56 the ford boys did get it right with the new style cobras but they had to use a power adder/eaton blower to get its 400 hp

i vote third gen f-body just because i love the body style my biased because i own a 92 rs
 
It is true that the F-body owned the Mustang in performance after say 1974. The Mustang II was and is the ugliest Mustang...what was Ford thinking in 1974 when they released it?
 
gas crunch of the 70's hell ford almost replaced the stang with probe back in 89 or 90
 
I never cared for 4th Gen Camaro's.

2nd Gen was cool, 3rd Gen holds a soft spot from my childhood, 1st Gen still hold up as the best, and 4th Gen is the worst. Maybe it's just that I've never seen anyone but a woman driving it, but it screams "CHICK CAR" to me in a way that only a white V-6 Mustang Convertible screams louder.

:lol: It's the opposite where I live. I've only seen guys driving F-body's here and chicks drivin Mustangs. There a few times where there is an exception but that how the majority is here.
 
The Mustang has always been a chick car to some extent. I belive it was Ford's origional intention to make the car appealing to younger women in the 1960s, as they ran several ad campagins targeting them specifically. I seem to recall one with a Secretary and her Mustang GT convertable....
 
Mustang convertibles are definitely chick cars.

I've just never seen a 4th Gen Camaro driven by a guy.

My former Co-worker has two IROC-Z's, one with the "H.O." 305 (And for the life of me I forget the type of fuel injection it used... EFi, TPi,....) and the other he replaced with a 350 V8. Both very nice and suprisingly quick cars. I wouldn't mind a fourth Gen, myself. ;)
 
I've never SEEN a 4th Gen Camaro driven by a guy.

I've heard of them, but it is a rare as a Unicorn apparently.

I wouldn't be sure about it, but I always check the drivers of cars which catch my eye, Camaro's are one that catch my eye.
 
I see only white guys driving the V8 Camaros and chicks driving the V6 models. I NEVER see a girl driving a V8 or a guy driving a V6. This is 4th gens...3rd gens are all over the place.
 
Onikaze, just a question: Are you seeing more of the base-model Fourth Gen designs or the Sport options? (Like V6 models as oposed to Z/28 or IROC's) I'm just asking because I can understand if you see more of the former, as opposed to the latter which has a healthy dose of masculinity due to the ground effects.

There are plenty of 4th Gens up here in Michigan driven buy dudes, and by chicks as well. The V8 models are by far the most common, and I see plenty of ladies driving Z/28s and SS' all the time.

...But yes, majority of the time the Camaro has been a guy car, the exact opposite for the Mustang...
 
Those were 3rd Gen Camaros.

Not a lot of 3G's around here, I think I've seen just as many 1G's as 3G models in this area.

Lady right outside has a 4G Convertible RS, White.

Only seen three guys in Mustang Convertibles, one was very gay, one I'm pretty sure was either in the closet, or just had a new tasteless toy, because he had done silly things to a Saleen S281 vert, and then there was the guy in a new GT/CS the other day.

Can't say I've ever seen a guy in a 4G Camaro, not that I see a lot of them, but when it's a guy in an F-Body, it always seems like it's a Firebird, I've seen several of the Ram Air ones, and a couple of WS6's.
 
well most of the guys with 4th gens ge em because of the killer motors that can be had as a general rule their much faster than any stockish 3rd and you could get the 350 with a stick while only stick 3rd gen with a v8 was a weezy 305 then again its easy to swap a stick in
