To be honest, I got a bit excited about the Lincoln MKZ RS.
Darn it, I really want to see a Lincoln Sport Sedan.

Lincoln could use a sports car. Maybe an AMG-esque car wouldn't hurt their range of cars, right? Or then again, maybe not...

Also, seeing those sedan and wagon renders really makes me wish that Ford could do both of them. But I know that the chances of that are incredibly slim.

I think a few versions of Nissan's ATTESA system are also capable of this. If my mind is working correctly, starting with the R33 GT-R in 1995.

Isn't this AWD system exactly like Honda's SH-AWD which has been around for a decade? If it isn't physically like it, the Ford system does the same thing by over-driving the outside rear wheel in corners.

Yep. And just like ATTESSA E-TS Pro. And S-AWC. And most other systems. The biggest difference, as far as I can tell, is in the parameters and the degree to which torque can be split and controlled. I think Ford's combination of torque yaw with brake vectoring on turn in is also unique.

I'm most concerned with how simple a system it is. How efficient is it? What does it cost to fix?

Most importantly, what does the interior look like?

Chyeah. Speaking of which, one of these days I will own a 2005-2008 Acura RL. I've wanted one ever since they debuted. I think it's one of the prettiest cars Honda has ever made and they handle wonderfully because of that genius AWD system. Really good examples are still well out of my budget but I can see it happening in the next couple years.

Or should I get an RS instead? The RS will be more than double the money.

R32 GTR

I'm a fan of their Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system. Only problem is, again, the parameters.

Imagine if it had some stonkin' stronk electric motors out back and that the battery tray and controller assembly were laid out under the floor Tesla-style.

It'd be like the Nismo LM GTR, except without driveshafts going through your kidneys.

dunno if this was already posted.

Isn't that an image of a standard Focus? The RS has a flat bottomed steering wheel with blue stitching and turbo gauges

Other than that, the dashboard isn't more exciting. There isn't even an RS logo on the wheel.

The interior is okay in my opinion, but for a sports car I would want the speedo and tacho next to each other, dead centre of the display.

I blame Google.

Anyway, apparently people are now speculating that the Focus RS's AWD system was taken from Land Rover :indiff:

Not from Land Rover but from the company that developed Land Rover's system. They're similar, but all these systems are similar. Doesn't matter - Land Rover isn't using it in a performance application so the implications of the system are completely different.

The Focus interior is misleading, it looks very average inside but when you sit in you realise how driver centered the front is, the car basically wraps around you , it's even more hardcore in the ST, and likely again on the RS.

I think you are overstating things. I have a lot of seat time in an ST. It doesn't feel that special. The upper gauges are cool though.

I like having my seating position pretty close to the wheel so it's better for aggressive driving, and it's definitely noticeable over other cars it competes with.

Yeah, me and a Ford tech were talking about it. If Ken Block is a consultant, it wont be anything less than AWD.
