S.H.O.

Super High Output. It's not SHO(W). Ever. That's for unedjamacated rednecks :p

OK, hopefully this is the right thread this time . I think the fact that they say "Sho" in the commercials is stupid. It's like Nissan calling the GT-R the Gitter.

Funny when I was a kid I thought the SHO was some stupid way of rewriting "show." And then I wondered why all these "show" cars were beat to hell and back if they participated in shows...

I have a friend who calls my car the Gitty. Of course he wants me to rearrange the letters to TIG.

I took a little trip to the Ford dealer today, and one of the salesmen pointed me in the direction of a new SHO that was parked behind their service area. The car is very impressive, in size and quality. It didn't look anything like any Ford I'd ever seen. Even the new Mustang which also has a stellar interior paled in comparison. I'm not too good at describing things of that nature, but it was definitely high quality.

Funny enough, I had my first up-close look at a SHO today as well. My initial thought was (A) The car is friggin' huge. The driving position is perfect, there is plenty of room in the front and back of the car, and you could easily fit two or more dead bodies in the trunk (B) The level of quality is top-notch. I'd argue that it bats beyond a majority of brands at its competition level, and is as good as your average Infiniti or BMW product (C) The interior lights are awesome. I love the blue in the gauges, on the dash, in the door sills, etc.

For the $38K sticker price, I'd say its an absolute steal. It angers me that much more that GM killed the G8 GXP now that I've seen this one in person. What's worse is when the salesman and the FoMoCo rep who was at the dealer today acknowledged how totally awesome the Pontiac was, it really hit home.

Now I've got to find a way to get my Grandfather to buy one of these.

Oh, and the three of us called it a "SHO(W)" all afternoon. Michigan thing?

It is a S.H.O., but it's rarely called that anymore. Ford people, Ford fans, more and more, they are calling the car SHO(like 'show'). I don't believe it's the types of people who are calling it different, it's been 'SHO' for years. I still use both names, many do, but more SHO.

So if we classify ourselves as such can we use SHOW?
No :p
Maybe it's for those who know Ford products more thoroughly, except for MustangGT up there?

I'd like to think I know them pretty well... My grandfathers worked for Ford, along with my great uncle, 2 uncles on my moms side, and my aunt on my dads side is an editor of the Detroit News, and used to be a automotive journalist before that.

They've all never called it an SHO(W).

Besides my parents and sister, the rest of both my parents families are still in Dearborn/Detroit/Ann Arbor/Plymouth/Allen Park.

I picked it up from them. Maybe they're wrong too? I won't rule it out, I've just grown up hearing S.H.O.

Then let's see what they said in the early commercials.

Ess-Aich-Oh...

Same...

Well, can't find a '96-99 SHO advert, so I have to assume that they decided all the sudden to start calling it "SHO(w)" with this current generation.

I have to say that sounds pretty stupid. Fo Sho That's all I can think of.

Then again I don't like other abbreviations(nicknames?) like Beemer, Bimmer and Gixxer. It only really makes sense to me for things like VTEC or MIVEC.

Saw a brand new SHO today in the wild. I must say they're huge! They look better in real life than they do in pictures as well.

I thought you might like that one Jim. ;) I'll try and find another one or two if I can.

*couple of minutes later*

Okay, here's another.

SHO vs Audi A6

Soooo...

When shall we be seeing just how much boost this car can handle? Might be fun to see if it can achieve GNX/JZ/RB levels of power...

Now given the amount the time this car has been out and available on the market, but blame it on economic situation or what not, i still dont see them around very much those Tauruses...?

Well i dont see its V8 competitors very much either, namely the A6 V8 etc etc...

But i consistently see brand new E-classes (both in V6 and V8 version), or spanking new 5-series rolling around town etc

so i must ask myself, it might not be the Power that really attracts customers in this categories of vehicles after all...

What do you guys say about this low Taurus presence in the streets? (despite all those competitions and marketing demonstrations given by Ford at the release of this car)

Maybe this car has caught more attention in your neck of the woods... but around my areas... i rarely see them... i just doubt they are such bad cars...

or is it that the public is much difficult to please nowadays, given the power and lower cost of this car)

(Sorry about my bad english)

I've seen only a couple SHO's, but a few more of the regular Tauruseses.

Economy sucks, and unemployment is still over 9%. Not alot of new cars of any kind being sold right now. Especially $40k+ SHO's.

Someone brought a new SHO to the drag strip a couple weeks ago up here. Only time I got to see it run, it ran a 14.7 at like 94mph. Bone stock. Not sure if it had much influence, but our track is at 4,700ft elevation.

I've seen probably half a dozen SHO's on the streets. They are owned by old people who drive them slow. Seriously if you are old or drive slow in a sports car BUY THE NON SPORTS VERSION!!

Given your location you're probably bound to see way more Benzes and BMWs than you will Ford Tauruses. They're out there. I've seen quite a few new Tauruses, actually most of them have been SHOs.

JCE

I could not agree more with you my man!

I see that happening all the time, and it kills me... usually they drive on the far left lane holding back the flow of traffic speed...

why on earth would they consider buying sport, wasting the money like that?? They must be thinking they are buying "youth" or something... :dunce:

you'd expect some sport driving but no... :ouch:

...that's the beauty of Freedom ...

Moving from Japan to the States, one of the very first thing I noticed here was old people driving sports cars. I'm used to it now, but it was a strange sight to me. Also, where I live(Oregon), it's a common sight seeing premium sports cars & sedans getting passed by family cars. Yeah, street racing is bad, blah blah blah, but I hate seeing capable sports cars on freeway doing 55 exactly.
