Soooo...

When shall we be seeing just how much boost this car can handle? Might be fun to see if it can achieve GNX/JZ/RB levels of power...

When I was taking my Ford Training classes they told us that the Ecoboost can make up to 700hp unrestricted.:dunce:

Given your location you're probably bound to see way more Benzes and BMWs than you will Ford Tauruses. They're out there. I've seen quite a few new Tauruses, actually most of them have been SHOs.

Funny that I never really saw them ever in Michigan. The new Taurus and the Lacrosse both aren't too common in Holland. I saw a lot more MKS's than Tauruses I think. Granted, I haven't seen any of the competition there either for the most part. Yet almost every other car is a new Fusion.

Poor Americans, you need one of these :D

We've tried Australian cars in the States, they don't sell.

I've seen probably half a dozen SHO's on the streets. They are owned by old people who drive them slow. Seriously if you are old or drive slow in a sports car BUY THE NON SPORTS VERSION!!

sports car? luxo-barge perhaps

Not when they're big V8s introduced right when gas went to $4.25.

The GTO was out when fuel was cheaper, it just wasn't that great and didn't really sell. People wanted the Camaro. I just don't think Australian cars are suited for the American market.

Which is odd because Australian cars are better at being classic American muscle cars than anything on sale in America today.

I'll disagree here. The Monaro (GTO) is and was a fantastic car, GM US' mistake (and a colossal one at that) was calling it a GTO when it wasn't. Screw the new Camaro, the Monaro is a much better car all around. It didn't sell because GM badged it as a Pontiac GTO and not a Chevrolet Monaro.

+1 100% correct. In fact the Germans and Australians are the only 2 countries as a whole who can do muscle cars at the moment. Korea with the Genesis coupe could do a musclecar if they stuffed a V8 in it. :D

Its iffy. I think that if the GTO entered the market looking like how it did when it left, chances are that it would have done better. Selling it as a Chevelle probably would have baked in a few more sales, especially since they could have started it at a much lower price.

The G8 on the other hand, I'm fairly certain it would have sold much better as a Chevrolet. It just would have "fit" a bit better.

2013 SHO Gets Some Updates, Still Under 400 BHP

Inside Line Details Here

The entire Taurus line is getting a fairly significant upgrade, including a new 2.4L EcoBoost I4 that will replace the base-line V6. The SHO, however, sneaks in with an updated front and rear and some extra mechanical tweaks to make it a bit more appealing to enthusiasts. One of the bigger issues were the weak breaks when the car debuted, Ford has addressed the issue with a larger fluid capacity, new brake pads and rotors, and I believe a change of tires. But, there wasn't a significant power update. It is the same 365 BHP EcoBoost 3.5L V6 from before. C'mon Ford, you know you want to do a 400 BHP SVT version...

Weak Breaks? Like, what, your coffee not strong enough between working and working?

((I know what you meant. It's just that you hit upon a pet peeve of mine and I had to make fun of you for it. :P))

Oh god, kill it with fire! They ruined it.

The SHO looks more strange than the standard Taurus...

Apparently when it doesn't have a grille, it's fast.

Purposeful Sedan is Purposeful.

It's not ugly per se, but some elements of that design really annoy me, like the stupid "1980's greatest hits" C-pillar/bootline area... And it looks much too tall.

The car is proportioned quite well, but I guess the overall changeover with the look is because Ford wants to (somehow) target the Audi A6 with the car. That's great and all, but yeah, Ford.

Nah, s'not. Check out the relationship between the rear wheel (which is, no doubt, a 20inch or something similarly ridiculous) and the C-Pillar. It's miles away, and makes the necessarily-huge-wheel (because bigger is better, right kids?) look tiny.

Wow it looks like an Evo X mated with a Mondeo and then got beaten over the head with the ugly stick :yuck: Just when Ford were doing stuff right in the looks dept.

The car is front-wheel drive, which means it has awful proportions by nature. As for Audi, I can't remember the last time they made a car with decent proportions either.

I think it looks appropriately mean, which seems to be a hallmark of American performance cars. They all look like they're going to stab you in the throat, and that's A-ok in my book. As long as they have the balls to back it up.

I know people will flame me for saying that but it reminds me of the australian V8 super saloons. The front end is quite pleasing to look at.

i think making it a dedicated RWD would appeal nicely or have the engine mounted longitudinaly instead of transversely would help it in the handiling and driving feel department. although on the new SHO they could do with reworking the headlights possably a little wider + it has what i call the classic american problem we got today whichs is the sides are 2 flat it needs some curves naw meen :]

The Volvo-derived platform wouldn't allow for those modifications, unfortunately. It sounds as though Ford wants to roll this thing together with the future Falcon and Galaxy, and there is no telling what that will actually mean on down the road.

I like the front fascia look; it looks meaner than before. However, I think they did not put enough "sport" into it to begin with. It still weighs too much - at 4375 lb (2011 SHO), this thing is not designed to be sporty, no matter how much HP you have under the hood. The brakes could be even better. The SHO should also ditch the 4WD - the system adds too much weight for any significant performance gain.

I don't want this to sound mean, but that is a terrible idea. This is a car with nearly 370 horsepower. You can't put that down through the front wheels alone and expect it to do anything but chew up tires.

Besides, ditching the AWD system wouldn't take much weight out of the car anyways. The SHO only weighs around 350 pounds more than the FWD SEL (despite a heavier engine, beefier drivetrain components and considerably better standard equipment). Figure 150 of that is stuff that makes the rear tires turn when the Go pedal is pushed, if that.

Honestly, all the SHO needs is an extra 40 BHP. That's it. A nice, round 400 BHP would go a long way in the segment.
