The Carina, really one of those cars that just got put into GT just so they could get a car count of over a thousand. Nobody uses it, passed up by everybody. People asked me "what car is that" and that made me a bit sad. But with the right tune as always, this can be a competitive car. I just wish the four-wheel steering worked in GT6 :D.

On to week 40! Gee, it almost seems this thread is getting old, but not even close. This week's car could be a mid-life crisis car for this thread, so this week's forgotten car is.....

The Lamborghini Diablo GT '00! (Thanks to @Neddo for the suggestion). What better way to celebrate than to use a car from a company so well known, but made a car that never is seen very much in GT6. I've heard many people say that it is trick to drive, so that adds a challenge that I'm willing to take on :mischievous:.

The Diablo SE30 and its optional Jota upgrade kit had been quite sporty and race-oriented, but Lamborghini took this concept a step further in 1999 with its introduction of the very limited production Diablo GT, of which only 80 examples were produced for sale. The Diablo GT was a completely race-oriented model differing in nearly every aspect from the more mainstream Diablos. The cars were fitted with radically altered aggressive bodywork, a stripped-down interior, and an enlarged engine. With the exclusivity came a large price tag of nearly$300,000 and availability limited to Europe. Some GT models were imported into the US and a few may have been converted to road-legal US specification.

The Diablo GT was noticeably different on the exterior. While previous Diablo models had differed one from another with subtle fascia refinements or changes in the brake cooling ducts, the Diablo GT opted for an all new black carbon fiber front air dam with large brake ducts and a central vent for the oil cooler (the car still featured driving lamps, the single pair of round units featured on the Diablo VT Roadster). In the front luggage compartment lid, a large air extractor was added, while the small corner vents on the front fenders were changed to NACA style ducts. The fenders themselves were widened to accommodate a wider front track.
On the inside, the Diablo GT featured more prominent carbon fiber panels, race-spec bucket seats with 4-point seatbelt harnesses, a smaller steering wheel, and an optional Alpine LCD screen for GPS navigation and a bumper mounted backup camera. Despite the racing pretenses of the vehicle, air conditioning was still installed as standard equipment; airbags could be optionally omitted.

While previous Diablos had tuned and tweaked the 5.7 L (348 cu in) engine with various ignition and fuel system upgrades, the Diablo GT opted for a larger-displacement alternative. While the basic V12 block remained the same, the engine was stroked from 80 mm (3.1 in) to 84 mm (3.3 in) for a new displacement of 6.0 L (366 cu in); this engine, which would later be used in the revised Diablo VT 6.0, produced (in GT trim) 583 PS (429 kW; 575 hp) and 630 N·m (465 lb·ft) of torque. The transmission was the same 5-speed used in other Diablos, but different gear ratios could be specified by the race-oriented buyer. Rear-wheel drive was used to save weight, as usual.

I had a PS3 for a short time and it was extremely fun. Sadly my skills didn't develop so when I tried the rainy Nurburgring with it was extremly hard to keep on road. But when I drove it on Trial Mountain it was a piece of cake.
I just love Diablos. They are so mental and raw. They feel unique like many 90's supercars. There is just something very dark about Diablo, something that makes it a mystery. Like it was meant to be driven, not to be a contender in a constant technology race. Because of that I find it very different from other supercars. I always imagine a Diablo in night with strong weather and it's lights on. Diablo is the last mental Lambo but for some unkown reason it's outshadowed by newer ones which to me are more generic and built for competing with others. Lambo was way more independent before. Diablo was Lambo underneath not Audi S8! But I guess that Lambo is now selling a lot. I'm not saying that they sold out. I just hope that new Lambo, that will be unvieled at Pebble Beach this August, will be more mental like Diablo
 
I recently tested the Diablo GT and also the GT2. The GT2 is slower, but slightly more planted and less twitchy. The Diablo's natural predators are the Pagani Zonda C12S '00 and Saleen S7 '02. All three were within a single tenth of a second in my testing at Mid-Field Raceway on Comfort Soft tires.

In GT6, after purchase and before oil change, the specs are:

The GT2(stock) is horrible in slow hairpins. I love the sound and hesitation when shifting. Lovely car when concentrating on nailing apexes.

The GT. Fabulous. :bowdown: Fuji F: Lap after lap, the car makes me dare go deeper on the brakes, quicker on the throttle, hang the tail out a bit more and just plain have fun. No need to look at the speedo or tach. The bull is fast! Great car in GT6.
 
I remember some models like the Bullitt and Cobra gained good hp with tweeks and exhausts. SVT were tuning them up.

Edit: for basic GT models you're right. 260hp. Took a long time to get that number considering the Camaro was seeing 300hp years before that. The Falcon was also over 225hp before the '05 GT. Maybe some Mustang experts here can shed some light as to why the hp figures were so low with the Mustang all those years.

There's no replacement for displacement

Chev's had 350 Cid engines where Ford went with 302 and 281 Cid engines. Not to mention Ford wanting you to spend more money. Where the bowties were really good cars for the masses Ford Undercut the Camaro a bit, and left room for even higher performance Mustangs.

Many of their cars, especially the FWD cars (namely the GT, GTV, 166, and 156) are pretty competent cars on the track.
I've always thought of the 166 as being a photoshoped 156 since it has a longer and kinda scrunched up nose.
 
The Diablo GT can be a competitive racer once you get to know how to drive it. I use RH in front and RS in back and it has proved to be very good in some online races. This week we're going back to slow and steady cars, if you can call this one that. This week's forgotten car is.....

The Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 '98 (Thanks to @Grandea GTR for the suggestion). Never thought too much of this car but I've heard that it can be a competitive sleeper once tuned so I'll give it a try.

The 156 was introduced at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show as the replacement for the Alfa Romeo 155. Cars were assembled at Fiat Group factory in Pomigliano d'Arco, Italy and General Motors facility in Rayong, Thailand (production in Thailand started March 2002 and lasted couple of years, cars were targeted for Asia Pacific markets). Between 1997 and 2005, 680,000 156s were produced, a huge success for the brand.

The 156 was available in saloon, Sportwagon estate and Crosswagon crossover bodystyles with seven engine configurations; it went through two facelifts, first in 2002 and then in 2003. The Sportwagon advertising campaign was made with actress Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The 156 saloon was discontinued late in 2005 in Europe, the four-wheel drive Q4 Crosswagon was produced to the end of 2007. The 156 was replaced with 159, which also spawned the Brera, the two door coupe that replaces the Alfa Romeo GTV along with its convertible sister the new Spider. The 156 won the 1998 European Car of the Year award.

The Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 '98 (Thanks to @Grandea GTR for the suggestion). Never thought too much of this car but I've heard that it can be a competitive sleeper once tuned so I'll give it a try. Full stats and description to follow.
I have a feeling @CSMDuty11 would like this car.
