Format errors?

I got a brand new psp for my kid for xmas and am peeved that I cannot format any mem stick for it. I get about 4 different errors when trying, and that is with a sandisk rapid gx I bought today, the pro duo the machine came with cannot be read by the psp at all(blinking orange light). Seems like a silly prob but I cannot get it right.

Yes, I have searched all over everywhere about this allready, yes, I formated the mem sticks with my pc, etc... etc.... etc....

Any help would be apreciated as I'm soon to go back to the stupic city and get loud and obnoxious i'm sure.

Sounds to me like you have a bad PSP (That'll be a first for me story)..

My PSP never had any issues reading whatever Mem.stick I've thrown at it..
 
Thanks guys, and sorry for the late response, yes indeed the unit was bad, swaped it out and all is good now :)

yes sandisk pro duo 2gb, good stick and does not cost too much.
 
FYI.

Anyone interested in 4GB Pro Duo should search Ebay for 4GB Pro Duo Lexar. Myself and a few mates have picked these up for around £15 and they are excellent. They make a change from the thousands of poor quality fake Sony sticks that are all over Ebay these days.
