After 23 rounds, the 2024 season finally reaches it's 24th and final race in the UAE. The Yas Marina circuit is in its fourth year since the redesign vaguely improved it, as the circuit which now holds the record for the most season-finishing races in F1 history will be the last race for quite a few drivers who are losing their seats for 2025, and potentially one more who hasn't told us yet. This will also be someone's first race, as Jack Doohan replaces Esteban Ocon at Alpine for this round before his full season in 2025 for the team. The Constructors title is still up for grabs for McLaren or Ferrari, as for the first time since 2009 it will not be Mercedes or Red Bull taking home this title. Which one will come out on top and get their first WCC win since 1998 and 2008 respectively? We will only find out at the ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX!

^ Not quite - Emerson and Wilson Fittipaldi were Lotus team mates in the non-championship 1971 Argentinian GP, which featured 10 F1 cars and 5 F5000s.

Russell also says he lost respect for the way Verstappen has handled adversity at times this season, again citing the Hungarian Grand Prix where the Red Bull driver was extremely vocal on team radio.

“It can’t just keep going on like that. For me, it’s interesting, this whole regard with him and his own team,” he said. “They’re doing their utmost to get [Christian] Horner out of Red Bull, but at the very first race that he wasn’t competitive, he was absolutely slamming his team, and I know for a fact the week after, a quarter of his engineering team were sending their CVs to Mercedes, to McLaren, to Aston.

Contractually-obligated FP1 switches:

Aston Martin - Felipe Drugovich in for Lance Stroll

Ferrari - Arthur Leclerc in for Carlos Sainz

McLaren - Ryo Hirakawa in for Oscar Piastri

RB - Ayumu Iwasa in for Yuki Tsunoda

Red Bull - Isack Hadjar in for Max Verstappen

Williams - Luke Browning in for Alex Albon

FP1 drivers requirement is doubling to 2 times per car per season. This is an excellent rule change and I hope teams don't just continue to wait for Abu Dhabi and get a bit more creative through the year.

Hamilton should get a penalty for impeding Norris, if they follow recent precedent - he was practically stationary on the racing line in the final corner. Probably get away with a warning, as it's FP1 (and he's British 🇬🇧 ).

From Sky blog:

We've just had confirmation from the FIA that both Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto have taken new gearboxes for this weekend.
Colapinto had already exceeded his allowance for the season, while Albon is now also over the limit, which means both Williams drivers will have five-place grid penalties on Sunday.
Leclerc (the Charles variety) will also have a grid penalty - 10 place drop because of a battery change. That won't help the championship hunt.

It would be humorous if Arthur got a meaningless grid penalty.

Nico was there.

Apparently the convention is for the champ to pay, but good luck getting money from a bully, so Valtteri covered the bill

Another special lid, this from George

The graphics on top are amazing too, comprised of the photo of George waiting to get Lewis' autograph alongside a photo of them as team mates. A very nice tribute.

Heard the same regarding the dinner payment, apparently Max has never paid, Lewis paid every time, and organises it every time. Valtteri confirmed he had paid on an Instagram video, around 5k Euro which I thought was quite reasonable for a large group of F1 drivers.
