Can't be bothered to do a fancy intro post but you all know the deal, it's Monaco 2021 back after an absence last year.

FP1 has just started today as is traditional, Friday is a day off. Leclerc's Monaco woes have already started with a gearbox failure putting him out of the session.

Fernando is the first one to properly hit a barrier, Mazepin and Latifi already had minor brushes.

Ferrari in genuine pace shocker?

Well, probably not come quali when it matters but still impressive running in practice.

Things are looking mixed up a bit in FP3. Mercedes struggling, Ferrari still solid.

Shame that what Monaco might giveth, it will take away by not actually giving us any racing tomorrow.

Session ends with Schumacher in the barriers very hard.

Mercedes' struggles are a triple whammy:
1) They have the longest wheelbase so not as agile through the tight corners.
2) In the low speed corners, their low rake concept loses more rear end downforce than the high rake concept of RB, so limiting how aggressive they can be with the front downforce.
3) They take longer to warm up tyres than RB, and on such a low energy circuit and short lap like Monaco, that could kill them in quali.

I'm hoping for a Carlos win :D It's hilarious how Ferrari went from building a dragster in 2019, to a pure handling car in 2021

Alright folks, here we go.

Ferrari vs Red Bull? Seems that way, but how many times have we seen Mercedes seem to be struggling then pull it out, particularly HAM?

Should be good.

That was pretty good for a q1. Vettel is lucky he made it through.

It would be amazing to see Russel go to q3.

Leclerc crashes to pole!

(Edit: just to be clear, I'm not implying it was on purpose)

Ugh, that's a bit frustrating. Seemed like Verstappen was on his way to put in a banger of a lap.

Looks like LecLerc tapped the barrier and took out his RF suspension.

Headline: Lewis chokes at Monaco. Locking wheels and hitting barriers, half a second behind his teammate.
