I just raced the first of the "Formula Gran Turismo" events and won gold, and in the second race I came in last place, turned off my ps3 and came here to post. I looked but could not find a tuning guide for the "Formula Gran Turismo" / Event by track tuning. Please let me know if you know where a tune for each of the tracks is so that I can get gold first try and not waste hours retrying the championship.

-Edited- "Formula Gran Turismo" -> Thanks IceMan

Formula 1 GT (Gran Turismo) A-Spec Tuning Help!!

I'm sorry for not having the solution you seek, but this is bugging the crap out of me. There is no Formula 1 GT. It's "Formula Gran Turismo", "Formula GT" for short, or "FGT" if you're really lazy although "FGT" could just as well be "Ford GT". The Formula GT is not a Formula One car. It's an open-wheel car of similar concept to an F1 car, but it is not an F1 car. I really hate it when all open-wheeled cars get labeled as Formula One cars.

When a coworker tells me that all he cares about F1 is how Danica Patrick is doing, I'm this close *makes measurement with fingers* to punching them square in the face.

Calm down, Iceman. Mistakes can be made.

As for the tuning, I've had great success with the tuning from this post:

www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=142091&page=4#post4383051

Keep in mind that I have not yet won the Formula GT Championship (not quite at the level), but I have heard great things about these tunes and they have made my Formula GT more manageable. Good luck winning! :D

Thanks for the help buddy I look forward to winning them all tonight!! Expert all gold here I come!! :)

Update: I have used the tunes in the link posted by chaos in the A-Spec events, fighting my way to gold after 3 errors on the 3rd race, racing from the back of the pack to 3rd. Barely took the win, but it's gold!!

Does anyone know if its ncessary to put on rain tires to start the last two races if its completely sunny at the set up screen?

Great all golds up to the last race and now its hanging on the load screen for suzuka! awesome PD! Has anyone had their system hang during the middle of a championship and have it continue when they restart?

Well I now know the answer to that. Thank you PD, thank you for allowing me to waste 4 hours of my life. Its cases like this that support the need for saving in the middle of championships and long endurance races...really why would they not do this?!

I finally got around to win this race. Thanks for that tuning suggestion. I don't know if it was the tune, or the aids that helped me, but I was able to win despite DNF in 2 of the races (Monaco and the last one). Some suggestions to anyone having problems:

- Get in the lead as early as you can, but don't get discouraged if you aren't in the lead by the 2nd turn of the first lap. There are lots of opportunities, and be patient.

- Take breaks between and even during races. It's a long haul, and really takes a lot of focus since one tire on the grass = TROUBLE!

- For Daytona Road, tune up your speed - there's a lot of high speed opportunties there. Also, the computer AI moves quite slowly through some of the bendy parts, so you can really pick up there.

- For Nurenburg, never ever ever give up. The last turn (hairpin after the chicane) seems to cause the computer drivers no end of problems - I think at least 1 car spins out there each lap. I was in 12th place on lap 9 down by 30 seconds (!) (thanks to a lack of attention at the chicane) and ended up in 2nd despite two other accidents.

- For Monaco, tune your speed well down since you'll need the premium accelleration. For some reason, the AI doesn't seem to get into accidents after travelling under the casino (tunnel) like BOB always seems to in B-Spec.

- I found the last race to be VERY difficult... After I was lapped half way through I didn't bother continuing (esp. since I had already mathematically won). I'll go back to it some other time.

- Because the winners on each course vary so much, I won with 375 points out of a total potential of 600 (3 first place, 1 second place and 2 DNF). I won by around 60 points IIRR.

I am stuck on this last race too - sooooooo frustrating. So much oportunity for error and sliding off. VERY difficult like you say - glad i'm not the only one who thinks this!!!

Hmmmm. THe last race at Suzuki wasnt hard. It just took forever. I kept soft tires on. THe only thing I adjust from race to race, and even that wasnt much, was top speed on my tranny.

With Suzuki in the rain, you just have to take the turns SO much slower than normal. Then go hard on the straights. Be careful about acceleration from a stop or slowdown. Accelerate on the two long straights a bit more gradually from 2nd to 4th gear or you may get some tire spin. Outside of that, get the lead as early as possible, like all races, then take the turns very conservatively, braking as little as possible.

This is the set up I won with. The only changes I made throughout were with the final gear of the transmission depending on the track, ie- higher or lower depending on the length of the longest straight.

the formula gt championship is fun, challanging, fustrating, and all around good racing. i dont race any particular setup, i just race what i got. The first race at Fuji, i recommend you just run fast consistant laptimes.(duh). But what will really help you is to put your top speed on your transmission a little higher, just to get faster down the frontstretch. At indy, i reccomend you run consistant and brake hard into turn 1 and take the rest easy. keep the transmission like at fuji. At monaco, i recommend tuning your transmission to where you have fast acceleration and get as many spots as you can at the star, and run consistant lap times. Nurburgring is pretty simple... DONT TOUCH THE GRASS!!!. I have not race the other two yet. heres how i did.

Fuji: I started out pretty good. i started runniong consistantly and pulling away by a little bit. Around lap 5, i decided to move my line into some of the corners around a little bit. this resulted in a 4 second lead by lap 8. Around lap 10, i was challenging myself to beat my laptimes. this resulted in getting loose under braking and spun around in the first corner. i fell back to third:grumpy: but i was in the lead before i knew it. i won by 3 seconds.

Indy: pretty easy, just run consistant, nothing really interesting.

Monaco: I was in second by the double hairpins. I didnt really know the track so i fell back by 10 seconds.:ouch:. I was catching up by about lap 12 by 1.6 seconds a lap, but because i had to hold off other cars, i didnt get but up to 2 seconds of the lead before i got put into the outside wall. i finished second despite this though.

Nurburgring is tough: I made it into the lead by lap 3, but clipped the grass in a hairpin. i fell back to 9th. I was running consistant lap times and on lap 10 I was 6th. I was racing with 4th and 5th places when i saw smoke in front of me. IT WAS THE LEADER!!! HE was my main compitition for the title!. on lap 18 i was in second place, only a little behind the leader. I was right on his(bumper) on the last lap, but i couldnt get by him.I mad a charge going into the chicane and had a run on him coming out, but i clipped the f#%@ing Grass!!!!. I ended up finshing 3rd. i have not run any other races so far.

AGAIN: the most essential elment is consistancy.
