Honestly, I really like the season start. Ferrari are definitely much closer to Mercedes than qualifying times would have us believe. Mclaren were only a handful seconds down the road as well. Red Bull is still a questionmark to me. In Melbourne, I'd say RBR was on par with Mclaren. Here in China, they are absolutely nowhere.

Am I the only one to not understand why a SC was needed to remove the Audi?
 
I see FOM fixed the super clipping issue shown on the onboards by turning off the speed graphic and switching to a track side cam at the end of the back straight. 👍 👍

The clipping is nowhere near as bad as Melbourne either way.

Sprint was very enjoyable, good battles throughout the field.

Great to see Kimi bag his first proper pole position, I expect Lewis to be leading at the exit of turn 3 though and then it'll be interesting to see if Ferrari can manage the race better.
 
If the FIA had any balls and banned the Merc illegal engine we could be on for an ATG season. Apparently Merc aren't even using it's full potential, it's about 40bhp ahead of everyone else.

Also Ferrari haven't brought their unique rear wing with them to China, they are using an older spec. No idea why.

Engine confirms to the current technical regulations and how they're measured. Additional measures are being bought in from 1st June to test compression at hot running temperatures. Power figures are guesswork.

Also, Ferrari did bring the 'Macarena' wing with them, they ran it in free practice before taking it off the car and replacing it with the normal mechanism ahead of sprint qualifying. They cited concern over it's reliability over a full weekend and needed further testing.

Congrats to George on his Sprint win, and congrats to Kimi on his record setting pole.

The Sprint recaps showed both Ferraris being really scrappy. And those starts! 😮

Interesting. I thought it was due to the drivers having to figure out if they would need to close it earlier that needed. I know on F1 TV, they were talking about it upsetting the balance of the car since it needed just that little bit of time to close as the car came into the turn after Hamilton's close call.

If it still needs testing though, I guess we'll see it back in Canada; there were some reports "2.0" of the wing would debut there.

I think he just mentioned one of the Audis, too.
 
Looked like McLaren worked under Norris' seat or in the area of his pedals.
 
4 cars DNS....they really got work on that. What a shame.
 
Wow, 4 DNS's today.

Crazy opening lap with that Hadjar spin and the Ferrari launch prowess. There's big points available for the midfield here with the McLaren's gone and Hadjar's spin.

who ever is in pole always seems to focus on defending from the guy in 2nd only to be beaten by the guy in 3rd during the start.
If Ferrari is behind, you focus on them
