Bad enough flares make it hard to see the race, but now 2 idiots used them and stopped the session altogether.

Agree with others; heavy bans & maybe even a fine for bringing them in. At least wait til the race is over to use them.
 
100% should be banned for life. Possible jail time as well imo, It could cause an accident.
 
I agree that this behavior has no place in f1, or any sport, and needs to be stamped out.
But how would it be enforced?
His mate will buy a ticket on a group booking. So the ticket purchase wouldn't pick it up. So unless they go down the route of checking passports on entry for anything up to 400,000 people. (forget a 2 day pass you'd need to get there 2 weeks early).
 
Have cameras scan peoples faces as they enter, and if there’s a match, check that person individually

Because he committed a felony, and anyone who gets arrested for a felony can be detained for six to nine hours (depending on the severity of the charges). Officially it's for interrogation, but they'll probably want to keep him just to ruin his day further.

EDIT: It should be said that he has the right to talk to a lawyer, and getting a lawyer to show up at a police station on a Saturday evening might be difficult.

He was released last night. He also turned himself in to security as he was being treated to beer showers and not so friendly reactions from the rest of the crowd. Another flare thrower was removed from the track yesterday, and both won't be there today.

And I hope "never again at any F1 track" but they probably won't go that far.
 
Good to see a zero-tolerance approach here. Let this slip once or twice and it will only get worse as idiots keep pushing the boundaries further.
