The Magyar Nagydíj has become a bit of a pre-Summer Break ritual in the F1 calendar, as the first weekend of August often brings crazy hot weather to the tiny circuit north-east of Budapest. The circuit is a small and twisty layout that combined with the high temps gives the tyres a workout and can lead to crazy racing if a car can get close enough to get side-by-side in the first few turns. McLaren's car in 2025 is clear of the pack, and Norris and Piastri are locked in a title fight which the Australian is currently leading. Which one will come out on top this weekend, or can someone else find a way to break the McLaren hegemony? We will only find out at the HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX!

The track looked rainy this weekend. This is bad for Max, and turns 8, 9, 10, and 11 will be challenging for the McLaren team in their internal race. Plus, six rookies are new to the track. Things look set to get complicated. With Ferrari now vying for the top spot, this track promises to be a very good race before the holidays. My guess is that at least two of these three, Lewis, Max, or Norris, will be out of the race.

I shall make a wild prediction. If Lando again finds himself ahead of Oscar after a strategy balls up by the team he won't swap the positions this time

Those 20-odd laps of pleading and cajoling by his engineer were the only thing livening up the race last year.

Rain is once again expected on Sunday. I hope it won't make things dull and boring as it did at Spa.
Latest forecast I've seen says small chance of light rain early Sunday morning (the F3s looks to draw the short straw again), but it will dry up very quickly for the F1 race in the afternoon. Sunny and warm.

Possibly the cringiest radio exchanges I've ever heard, was embarrassing for all involved and Oscar in particular looked embarrassed to win.

Anyways, the all new main straight buildings and grandstand look thoroughly modern.

At this point it might be worth F2 and F3 doing a random standalone race event somewhere to make up for the races they haven't managed to do. In 2017 they did a standalone event at Jerez for some reason, and this is as good as excuse as any to do that again. Maybe somewhere fun like Mugello!

I'm sure it's a highly needed improvement, but I feel it takes away a bit from the 'classic' look the track still had.
Of course function is way more important than looks in this case, but I don't really like it.

I'm inclined to agree with you a bit there, the sort of, semi circular grandstand top/roof was memorable. Surprised they didn't integrate it into the new design in someway.

Yeah I posted this in the wrong thread.

Alonso has a minor muscular injury and will miss at least FP1. Felipe Drugovich takes his seat for the moment and is on standby ready to do the Grand Prix if Alonso doesn't get better in time.

The Astons look quick, even Stroll is showing he's got speed. Max seems waaay off, Mercedes also seems off. Lewis is normally up to speed quickly here but doesn't look to be the case this time around.

This race looks like it will be another one between Piastri and Norris for the win. The McLarens just look like they are on rails.

The McLaren rockets look even further ahead than usual this weekend. Already faster than last year’s pole in FP3.

Aston upgrades look to have really worked.

Tsunoda out in Q1. Albon last is very disappointing.

Temperature drop has really brought the Astons and Russell into this. And Leclerc.
