Wow the death of this being named Großer Preis Von Österreich is still sad. Either way, we head to the Red Bull Ring next to a circuit draped down the side of an Alp. The shortest lap time of the year means the frantic nature of this circuit with 3 consecutive DRS zones very often produces some intense racing and controversial clashes due to the proximity of title rivals spending around 30% of their race with the DRS flap open. Many crazy moments have happened at this modern but classic circuit, who will join the craziness and can Max Verstappen keep his cool to avoid a ban at the AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX!

Purely coincidental timing, given what happened here last year, that the FIA have published the guidelines for driving standards/penalties on their website

Now the sofa stewards can be fully prepared.

I'm actually hoping for a incredibly boring race (and Piastri win of course), as I'm likely going to miss the whole thing. Uncle duties can't be avoided.

It will be interesting to see what impact all the car upgrades will have this weekend, should start seeing most of the final car developments for most teams within the next three races.

So under these rules Max's attack on George in Barcelona wasn't deliberately because he didn't received 4 penalty points and got banned.

Not really looking forward to all the teams throwing in the towel this summer. I’m expecting McLaren to go on a win streak like Red Bull did in 2013.

Alex Dunne very impressive standing in for Norris in FP1.
Russell & Verstappen once again ahead of the McLarens though.

It doesn't really mean anything though, as proven by Stroll's P4 in FP2.

I know. just a curiosity about the Papayas. Earlier in the year they were invariably quicker in FP because the way they ran was quite a bit different from the other top teams. It’s changed recently.

I will be in the Steiermark Grandstand - look out for a sunburnt guy and his wife collapsing in the heat. First ever Grand Prix, so pretty excited - hopefully get some T1 action.

(Back home, a hot day is 15c. It was 32c when we arrived on Wednesday 🥵)

Caught up on FP1 and 2 highlights.

McLarens look decent.

Dunne was quick! Well done.

I hope Norris can buckle down and focus. Canada was embarrassing.

It looks like we are going to have another battle between McLaren and Max for the race win this Sunday.

Tsunoda and Sainz out in Q1, along with Stroll, Ocon and Hulk.

Looks like where Lewis ran wide.

McLaren in another league. Max moaning and the Mercs overheating their tyres. Business as usual.

The good Lando has turned up this weekend.
Leclerc ahead of Piastri! Where did that come from? Oscar did have a bit of a wiggle early on but didn't see any other errors.

Lando by a mile!
Piastri and Verstappen got screwed a bit by that yellow flag.
Hamilton P4.

Lawson in front of Verstappen 🤣
Not sure why Verstappen backed off and didn't try another lap.

Lando having more than 0.5s is insane around Austria.
Brilliant result for Bortoleto.

Insane lap by Norris, that kind of gap on a circuit as short as this is amazing. Great to see the new floor from Ferrari is working well too, both great laps by Hamilton and Leclerc.

Well, Ferrari seems to have made the most improvements compared to everyone else behind McLaren. Considering how far they were during practice, to be right in the mix now, this should be interesting. Lewis is right there with Charles too and not by a big whole gap down. Hopefully we can get a proper McLaren vs Ferrari battle and McLaren don't just completely run away with it cause in qualy, they are so quick and that was a fantastic lap from Lando.

Mercedes is not looking as good as they were at the start of the weekend, I wonder if it is just the heat 🤔

I can't see Max getting nowhere near winning this race tomorrow. The car doesn't seem to be working well this weekend even with him behind the wheel.

The Astons not having any new hards or mediums is a bit odd
Aston like to scrub the tyres in Practice sessions. So they'll have only done one lap but they've had a prescribed heat cycle and removed the shiny outer layer.
