Heading into South America, Formula 1 2023 is about to engage in its final Sprint Race weekend of the season, as the historic Interlagos circuit prepares to host what is hopefully another banger of a race. The old-school track has held its fair share of chaotic and alternate results races, will it do the same again this year? The scene of George Russell's maiden win last year, can someone break the Red Bull and Verstappen stranglehold more than just the once at Singapore this year? He is going for win #17 of the year, can a team like McLaren get their drivers win #1? Can Lewis catch Perez for 2nd place in the standings and will we ever find out what that rumour is? We will find out at the SÃO PAULO GRAND PRIX!

Was an exciting Sprint last year so hopefully more of the same. Always delivers a good weekend.

Is Interlagos a high downforce track?
Yeah it is and as Magpie said, altitude play a big factor here like Mexico. It's a very engine dependant track due to the long main straight. Mercedes engines have enjoyed this track for many years past decade or so due to their power. Honda engines worked well too due to the thinner air. It's also one of the few counter clockwise circuits.

As predicted, drivers banned from stopping in the fast lane in the pits after last weekend.

And as also predicted, they just drive out very slowly instead.

Edit: Ridiculously close result in Q1, top 16 within 0.5s

Red flag, but won't be resumed.

Not that anyone was gonna try to drive anyway

End of the session.

Shame that it was a little too late. Rain qualifications are great.

Guess that's that. Shame Ricciardo couldn't capitalize on that pace the AT showed in Mexico. At least both McLarens did OK.

That's not a bad looking grid for the race! I wonder about the race pace of each of the teams. The McLaren and the Ferrari looks solid. Not sure about the Merc or the Red Bull

Or as they say in WRC
' we pay you a ****-ton of money so quit your bitchin, get in the car and drive'
Yeah yeah I know . Different cars , different skill set.

And also also as predicted, three drivers get grid penalties for it... well, sort of. The penalty was for not staying left in the pit lane while driving slowly, which is what they were told to do.

However the optics of it are terrible considering the FIA's track record (anyone got that Family Guy image lying around) of the last three seasons.
