Bad timing pit stop for George.. 😔
I'm struggling to understand what they are playing at here too - I'm glad it's not just me.Ferrari messing it up for Lewis again....like your drivers are on different plan why not have them drive accordingly... I can't help but feel like Charles somehow is getting all the special treatments from this team.
Edit: and there goes my point, why didn't they pit Lewis?? He was on much older tires?? What the 🤬 is up with this team?
Yeah I agree, I think really that Hamilton's pace would have forced an early stop for Verstappen to cover. Do Ferrari have some kind of 1998 Mclaren rule where whoever qualifys ahead will have best strategy/no overtaking?Barring safety cars and accidents etc., if Ferrari had just let Hamilton pass Leclerc on Lap 26 (when Leclerc came out on M tyres), I reckon Lewis would be in P1 right now - and if not, he'd be challenging Verstappen for the race win.
Instead, Ferrari have done everything in their power to scupper him and favour his teammate.
Me too, 0 conversation and lots of time before passing the pits to ask Lewis.I rewound the tape to the VSC and the told HAM to go Mode SC and there was no discussion either way to box. LEC got a box box call and stopped.
It's mind boggling. They pitted Leclerc who was on the fresher harder tire. Then 4 laps later they tell Lewis they are 6 laps short for plan C. I don't know how they thought this was going to work. There was no way this could've gone worse. If they pitted Lewis after the VSC ended, they probably would've been better off.Somehow Ferrari have managed to put Lewis into a lose-lose situation.
Pitting for S on Lap 19/62 was never going to work as a one-stop strategy. So why did they leave him out?
By leaving him out, they guaranteed that Lewis would lose positions by pitting and that he'd lose positions by not pitting.
I mean, that is an absolute masterclass in abysmal race management - it's almost like they've never seen an F1 race before at times, it's staggering.
Just listened to the cool down lap and is was nothing from HAM for 2/3 of the lap and then he said sorry for the bad strategy call guys, I cost us points.Me too, 0 conversation and lots of time before passing the pits to ask Lewis.
Yeh, our interpretation of Lewis's mea culpa is his decision not to come in after the VSC - by which point he was already in a no-win situation - thanks to Ferrari's incompetence. If that is the case, it's extremely generous/diplomatic of Lewis, but I am guessing that he will very likely not be quite as understanding when he watches the race back and realises the full extent of how badly the team have scuppered him today. It all started from not letting Hamilton past in the first phase. Hamilton's decision was based on the position he was left in after silly Ferrari choice. Why bother starting on the medium if they were going to race as though they were on softs. Oh well nothing new with Ferrari.
Fantastic weekend for Verstappen he drove amazing and he will overtake both Ferrari's And probably Russell for 2nd now with that huge upgrade they had in Malaysia. Well deaerved for Red Bull who actually operate and actively help their lead driver.
Hmm I think he was just being diplomatic on the mic. Behind the scenes there will be some serious discussions going on.Yeh, our interpretation of Lewis's mea culpa is his decision not to come in after the VSC - by which point he was already in a no-win situation - thanks to Ferrari's incompetence. Almost clinched. He just needs Russell to finish lower than 8th or just finish ahead of Russell.I know Ferrari has been a joke but this is by far the first time I've seen something from them that angers me so much. How do you screw your driver so much that not only do you lose a podium, he's finished outside of the top 5. Lewis said it was his call to stay out but they were never in sync to begin with. When he was faster, they had him parked behind Charles and then told him they are switching their strategy as to not ask Charles to let him pass. Somehow Charles ending up on the strategy Lewis was supposed to be on. I reckon he probably decided to stay out thinking he wouldn't have been able to pass Kimi and Norris after they pitted him based on what the team was telling him....either way, I was rooting for Ferrari at the start of this season but I'm officially done.
Kimi....congrats on the WDC!
Well done Max!! You now have my support til the end of the season. Let's see you catch and beat Ferrari in the championship and show them again how it's done!
Well, it's only a matter of time either way. He's done enough to where unless he's DNFing because of reliability issues, he is not losing this championship, especially considering how consistent he has been.Almost clinched. He just needs Russell to finish lower than 8th or just finish ahead of Russell.
The Honda engine would have a 'CIRCUIT SPECIFIC' PROBLEM in Singapore
Fernando Alonso:
"The engine didn't know what part of the circuit it was on" "Neither in Baku nor Sepang did we see these problems, it seems like a specific issue with this track and we DON'T have answers" "The turbo was broken and it had to be changed no matter what"
