Hello everyone. :)

I've been wondering if there is a specific way to configure the Formula GT (torque/transmissions/etc.) in order to have a good shot to achieve the Formula GT Championship.

I golded everything in the game (including the special/seasonal events and the licenses), but I've been stuck at this for a while, therefore forcing me to create an account on GTPlanet even though I've played GT since the very first one.

Also, I'm using a Driving Force GT and not using any assists except ABS at 1.

Thank you in advance for your replies!

This car is pretty tricky to drive, my own tune was aiming to make it more friendly. Since I don't like a nervous car I dialed in some understeer to help with that. Downforce is close to maxed out most of the time, but some balance built in for the way I drive(a bit less at the front, more at the rear, the faster the track the less front downforce, relatively speaking). I reduced the spring rate front and rear vs the stock(stock is maybe 3/4 from full stiff, I am running closer to half, with the rear being a bit softer than the stock ratio wise), the damper is the same, with less compression than rebound to help dealing with curb. And I run 7:4 front to rear ARB. I think I used 2.2 : 1.8 camber and added maybe 0.05 more rear toe.

LSD I biased it more to braking. I think its around 10:28:32. I use less braking one for slower track like Monaco to free up the rear end around the tight hairpin.

Gearing for the fast track like Fuji, Indy and Monza is around 250 -260mph. AI tops out very early(220?) and this let you draft them and pass them easily(I hit 255 at Indy in the draft and got my 111 meter/s trophy). Nurburgring and Suzuka is less at maybe 230-240, you don't hit anywhere near that, but again it helps you draft them. Monaco is like 200.

I run my brake(with G25 here) at 4:1, with ABS at 1. The key I find anyway is to be smooth with everything. I used TCS for this car(1-3 track dependent) to lessen my stress as its so easy to make mistake in a 20 lapper....

Good luck....this was my first Formula GT win in my GT days, I never did the GT4 one since I hated how it drives....but I bit the bullet for this one and it was pretty rewarding if not a bit much to run 5 20 lappers in a row(skipped Suzuka since I didn't need it).

Well thank you for your very detailed answer RacingManiac. And yeah, I found the thread TrevElvis. Well I'm answering this late because I haven't tried winning the whole championship due to Christmas and such.

Anyway, I've managed to win the first 4 races with relative ease, but I am seriously anxious of something, concerning the last 2:

How do you start as quickly as the AI on rain races? I mean, I have the wet tires, and the appropriate tuning, but when I jam the accelerator, it takes me forever to reach a decent speed. Do I have to do a gradual and slow start in order to keep up with the AI?

I can understand that rain racing is totally different, but I want to at least know how you guys start these races. :P

Thanks!

Use Racing soft on Monza wet. I lapped the entire field and almost lapped them twice.

I did the same thing. The dummy bobs also pitted after the first lap to put on rain tires, so I was ahead by a mile, literally!
Then, at Suzuka, knowing it was a weather change race, I put on rain tires before the race, and it was a sunny day! I had to pit after the first lap and they didn't! Serves me right I guess for thinking ahead too much.

I really dont know, why are you people saying that FGT is hard... i did it in first try (g25) but i really didnt saw any batteling, except in the monaco... really that is the only "harder" part there is there... but that's mine opinion...

This is the one races I am yet to tackle lol. I've been too caught up in my endurance races to even give the FGT a try. Let alone i have 15million CR and not even a FGT.

Finally cracked the championship yesterday.
Used a "forgiving" set-up I found posted on GTP.

The much lower ride height and associated springs and damper settings worked fantastically for the first three races, leaving me pocketing 300 points going into the GP Nurburgring.

Without thinking, I just threw myself into it, high on optimism, only to find the undulation of the ring far too bumpy for my lowered car to bear. Several corners saw me literally going straight on, despite having the dual-shock jammed into a right-hand turn.

By lap 12 I was 45 seconds off the lead and in 12th. Annoyed, I decided to see if I could ignore the chicane before the final hairpin (the one just before the AI spins out alot). Remarkably, it's pretty easy to time if you don't mind alot of rumbling over the grass at high speed. You can save ~8-9 seconds on the lap by straight-lining that chicane. Retook the lead by lap 19 and won it.

A sunny Monza was wrapped up and I'd thankfully nailed the championship by a wet Suzuka. Bad tire choice and tiredness set in and I finished in 12th, 3 laps down!! :ouch:

Nice to get that one out the way, mind.

Weird. Bob just finished Nurburgring GP/F and the AI pitting on the last two laps. I was like WTF? Maybe they didn't get enough fuel. lol. Made for an easy win, though. :P
