Forum Renaming

The Photoshop Help forum needs to be renamed. It reads as though it is only for Adobe Photoshop. Where would a user post help for example Macromedia Flash if they needed it?

I was having similar thoughts recently actually. How about "Computer Graphics" or "Digital Art" in place of "Photoshop"?

Well, a "Digital Darkroom" is so named because the computer allows you to do electronically what you can do in a darkroom, specifically controlling the development of the picture, cropping, enlarging, experimentation with media types etc.

I was actually asked if I had a darkroom once, to which I replied "Well, a digital one, yeah".

A Lightroom is so named because when doing home development and printing of pictures, you have to keep all the lights off (save for a dim red one), or you risk trashing the film. With a PC, and image manipulation on computer, there is no such requirement, hence you can have the lights on, therefore it's not a darkroom but a lightroom.

I think the main audience understands that the term photoshop is the general term for everything related to image editing. People acknowledge this - and I have yet to see a thread regarding confusion about the matter.

In fact, people discuss all types of imaging software in that particular forum. A name such as Digital Darkroom - as suggested by Giles - does sound trendier, but doesn't seem quite straight forward enough considering the GTPlanet crowd being car and video game fans.

Well, there's a pretty strong argument for several different names of this forum. How about "Image Editing Help". That would pretty much cover everything, while still showing that the focus of the forum is on assistance.

Image Editing Help seems a bit of a mouthfull, or maybe that's just me. Either way: it doesn't appeal to me - it doesn't seem quite eye-catching enough. Come on, Eddy! Passion! Opinionate!

I prefer 'Digital Art,' or 'Digital Art Help & Suggestions' or something.

Yeah I agree with Snoopie. "Image Editing Help" is just...odd. Not really friendly sounding in my opinion. (Weird.) I think Digital Art is more eye catching and sounds more appealing. I know I'd click on a link that said "Digital Art" over "Image Editing Help."
