Has there been any info on smartglass integration in Forza 5? I have seen(don't play it) videos of smartglass working as a gps map for Forza Horizon. Would love to see telemetry data, pit management and a hud option that would give you a rev counter fuel etc. That would be awesome.

Found a thread on the Forza forum discussing some possibilities. I really hope these are implemented!

I really can't imagine what smartglass would be used for in a FM title. I mean, in Horizon it was pretty useful (although mostly novel) to have the map separate from the game so you don't have to pause all the time. But in FM you really don't do anything besides drive around closed circuits. You don't even have to stop because the tires never wear out and the fuel never depletes. And if that did happen, you couldn't manage pit options because there aren't any.

I guess you could offload the telemetry, but then who is it there for? Are you going to race and look at your tablet at the same time? The same thing applies for the HUD; it's great to clean up the screen, but you'd have to keep looking back and forth for race info.

I think a couple of the ideas in that thread are pretty good. Rearview mirror cam would be awesome. And so would virtual gauges. At least I would love to have it in my cockpit.

The fuel does run out. I have no idea if the tyres wear out because they're like real tyres and take at least several hours, not four laps.

Funny, but not accurate.

Your post was accurate, but it wasn't funny. Without scaleable wear, it doesn't matter if the fuel and tires wear naturally because unless you participate in TORA races, you'd never know that a change of state was occurring. It may as well not be included in the game.

It wouldn't be true-to-life, but scaleable wear (and slightly longer races) would add that much more depth via strategy that's absolutely absent in FM titles. Otherwise you just hamster-wheel around the track without having to worry about whether you can make it one more lap on your tires or fuel.
