This is concerning Forza 5 not 6. I posted in the official forums but no one replied. My G920 seems to only function at about 540 degrees even though it's set to 900. Is it like this for anyone else? Can I fix it? I'd like to be able to play both FM5 and FM6 with the wheel.

If I remember correctly, fm5's dor resets each and every time you restart. So you have to manually set the game to 900° each time you start the game.

Just checked out your thread of the forza forums. Forget about the wheels outside the car. Check your steering via in game telemetry, t10 are very lax with animations with forza.

The wheels animation isn't the only thing that bothers me. The cars feel more twitchy than in FM6 and I don't need to provide a lot of counter-steer input when sliding. Is that just a characteristic of the FM5 handling model?

The animations are the same in FM6 also, and they do not depict anything above 180° for the steering wheel, and around 540° for the front wheels. This is why you have to use the telemetry to make sure you are able to use the full 900°.

These are the settings I use in both FM5 and FM6:

I had to jump on to FM5 to double check, as I have not played it since last September. With regards to the FFB, it felt a lot lighter. But that is a given, as FM6 feels as though they have increased the FFB damping a fair bit. Which makes the wheel feel more sluggish to turn, kind of feels like semi-broken power steering.

The FFB aside, the actual driving is very much the same as FM6. FM5 does have slightly lower grip levels however, but there is no twitchyness with the steering, or anything of that ilk.

I did 5 laps in total of the ring, and I used a car I was very comfortable with. The 370z was my go to B-class hopper runner in FM5, as it was stable and fast running on with its 376HP and 3,064lbs of fat with 53% weight distribution on sport tire compound. The car always handled like a dream.

The race above was done on my old Thrustmaster TX wheel, the wheel settings are the same as I use for the G920 wheel, surprisingly. I had my TX well before Thrustmaster added in all the sensitivity adjustments, and even before they added "auto clutch" to the wheels firmware. So it was just me, the wheel, and Forza's in game wheel settings. Just how it is on the G920 wheel.

Nice driving! I'll have to check telemetry in FM5 when I get a chance. By the way you were wrong about FM6 only showing 540° of rotation for the front wheels. I specifically remember checking that from the outside camera at a standstill and it definitely had 900° rotation.

Nice driving!

Thank you for the compliment. I am currently rendering out and uploading a video from FM6, as I imported the tune over from FM5. Figured a comparison video of exactly the same car and tune would be good in this instance.

Always the best thing to do, as the telemetry gives data from the physics side of things, not the visual side.

@Blue028 pointed it out to me with regards to the amount that the front wheels turn in game, and I thought the same thing as you do, till I checked. The wheels stop way short of 900°.

This video is to show that the front wheels on the cars in FM6 stop turning at around 540 degrees of rotation, thankfully this is just an arbitrary animation.

The telemetry is open to show that the physics engine still uses the full 900° that most Xbox one wheels are capable off. Take note of the "steering" indicator in the upper right.

This should be exactly the same in FM5

p.s the FM6 comparison video using the same 370z tune will be linked in this thread once it is uploaded to youtube.

What the heck?? I remember doing that only without the telemetry, but the wheels turned as far as my G920 wheel did, right to the very end. I'll try this again a bit later today.

Surprising isnt it. It is amazing what we can miss visually, unless we are actually looking anyway. I wouldn't have even noticed it if @Blue028 had not pointed it out to me.

Well you were right. The wheels only turn 540° and there is full 900° rotation in the telemetry in both games. That's funny, I could've sworn I saw the wheels turn fully in FM6 before... I must be blind, or have a rich imagination. The cars in FM5 felt twitchy for me at first and that's what threw me off the most.

Once unseen, it can not be unseen; lol.

Anyway, here is the FM6 run with the 370z. As I said before, I imported my tune from FM5 to FM6, so it has exactly the same setup.

Yep once you notice it you can't forget it haha, I actually spotted it way back on forza 2 and it has carried on through every game. I always assumed it was so you couldn't see inside the wheel arch because the wheel was never actually connected to the car, but I have looked very closely and on forza 6 there is definatley suspension components there now so it must just be an oversight with varied over coding. The only cars you won't notice it on is the cars that actually have Lee's physical lock like most open wheel cars, but there are still olot of cars that have too much steering lock like the v8 supercar for example, it has as much lock as a street car.

Edit: nice driving as always Ialyrn 👍
