Get the very best for Forza Horizon 1. This mod adds all the exclusive cars from Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Horizon Presents Fast & Furious on Xbox 360, plus enables the use of traffic cars from both games! In addition to that most cars have an AWD drivetrain swap, and many have new engine swaps! There are 60+ additional cars to enjoy, each with a full set of upgrades.

Play the mod on your RGH/JTAG (modchipped) Xbox 360, or on PC via the Xenia-Canary emulator. Future builds will include additional paintjobs, "Icon Edition" cars such as the A-Team Van and Fast & Furious cars, plus additional tuning options. For a current car list, visit our Google Sheet for the mod, which details what's available and any works-in-progress. Docs.google.com

Non-working DLC/LCEs (5-10 total)

I've just discovered today a problem with a file I downloaded to unlock the game's Unicorn cars. There's a "media.zip" file that can't be extracted. I don't know if it's necessary or not. Does this mod include those Unicorn cars on the dealership? Is that what that "LCE" mean?

That would be nice.

Been eagerly waiting for you to do this inverse "H1 cars to H2" mod. Thanks.

EDIT: I tested it out. Played on "Xenia Canary experimental 28b565c0c" from Oct 9 2022

  • As some said, the Dodge Viper in the intro doesn't shift. It does shift down if you slow down, but it doesn't shift up.
  • It crashed a few times for me. But it stopped. Only thing I changed was I disabled v-sync. Maybe that helps?
  • Unicorn cars from first Horizon, new cars from Horizon 2, and from Horizon 2 Fast and Furious are on the Autoshow.
  • Traffic cars are on Autoshow. But they don't have proper LODs, so they're glitched there and on Photomode(seem to work fine during gameplay).
  • I noticed while driving a tuned Mercedes sedan traffic car that some traffic cars disappeared when close to my car.

I noticed some H1 DLC cars (I guess that are standard in H2, and were imported) which are there but have a null BMW body, so you need the DLC to have them.

I'm pretty sure I had a fresh install of the game. I had one modded file to have more tire smoke, which I reverted, and I moved the Title Update and DLC files out of Xenia's content folder. When I added the DLC files back, the game still worked, and the DLC cars worked.

  • The AMC Javelin, which was a DLC in H1, is here by default, seemingly imported from H2, but it's using a Null wheel. Putting the DLC back fixes it.
  • Entering your garage or paint shop with a Fast n Furious Plymouth Road Runner will result in an infinite loading screen.
  • I noticed another two cars using Null wheels, the Alfa Romeo TZ2 and 33 Stradale. DLC being there or not doesn't matter.

  • Buick GNX
  • Vauxhall Carlton
  • BMW M5 '88
  • Dodge Daytona
  • Audi R8 Plus
  • Ferrari 250 GT Lusso
  • Ferrari 575M
  • Ferrari 360CS (which was available as DLC in H1. Re-adding the DLC does nothing)
  • Ford Capri
  • Jaguar XK120
  • Jaguar XJ220
  • Jeep Willis
  • Lotus Esprit
  • Maserati Birdcage
  • Mazda Mazdaspeed 3
  • Subaru Legacy RS
  • Subaru WRX '08
  • Volkswagen Beetle (imported from Horizon 2. There's a version from Horizon 1 that is fine)

Thanks for the bug reports - genuinely. I don't get a lot of downloads for this stuff and when you make mods you end up missing things. I'll take a lot at this stuff and roll any fixes up into the next patch.

Yeah, checking the cars just on Autoshow with Xenia at double speed is a bit easier, not as much of a task.

My game did start to crash again, happening often. I mostly drove the Alpine A110. It seems likely to happen when a bunch of traffic cars start disappearing. That seems to be a sign.

Didn't test more with cars that were already in H1. Today I'm just relaxing, playing the normal game, been a while since I last played it, or any game for that matter. On weekdays I don't tend to have much spare time for games, but Thursday I'll have the day off to go to the doctor, will see if maybe then I try to test a bit more. Next weekend I'll make sure to do it.

Edit: I'm also playing the base game to see if it also crashes, and if traffic cars disappear.

Edit 2: Is it possible/easy to change the amount of laps of the races? Could be useful for progressing quicker in the game, if we want to get back to where we were on a default game playthrough.

A few things:
  • While this works on Xenia, it's not officially supported. The emulator just started being able to play Forza over the summer, and reliability changes from build to build. I can't speak to why it would crash on Xenia at all, but I have several hours logged on my RGH Xbox 360 with no crashes
  • Gameplay mechanics, such as number of laps in a race, upgrade/car costs, etc, are tricky. It's easy enough to change it, but it's all based on personal preference. Someone got upset because I made all the cars cost 0 credits, and they wanted to earn their cars. So I try to only add new things to the game, such as new cars or new engine/drivetrain swaps. If we could do new races I would add those too.
  • Thank you for giving me so much feedback! Sometimes I get nothing and so I assume either nobody cares, or there aren't any bugs to fix.

The game unmodded is running fine for me on Xenia though. If it weren't for it running at 720p 30fps I wouldn't mind playing on real hardware.
Or at least if there was some way to capture the video output and use my PC to implement AI image scaling in real time (I imagine at 720p 30fps that could be easier to do without much lag?).

About the prizes, where are the values kept? Would it be easy to just have it as an option? Like, replace this file if you want quicker progression. (I did want to have to buy the cars, but since I was already playing the game, them being free helps to get back to where I was I guess).

One thing I appreciate about your mods is they are going to help me a bit with my new Challenge Forza Run. I want to try and make some sort of united story on all games, in order. Ignoring what might have happened to Horizon 1's character in the ending, that is..

Basically the character probably had some track racing before, but his only car is the VW, he kept trading his previous cars for better ones. In H1 he enters the festival and wins it, in H2 he's already a bit known, in H3 he's the boss. In H4 it seems like a new start, with H5 being a sequel to that, you being a superstar and all, but I'm gonna connect the two/three "timelines".

I'm keeping track of my cash and cars in a Word document. I'm earning a lot less in cash, but cars I have in one game I can transport to the other for a fee (since I earn a lot less in my challenge than in-universe, it's easier to buy cars I own in different games). Car prizes are also different. If I win the showcases I win a cheaper car from the same manufacturer (i.e. Ford Focus ST rather than 120k Mustang, Audi TT instead of Audi Quattro...)

So prizes are kept in the database mostly. For example any showcase, Mustang vs Mustang, assigns you a specific car, and if you win they give you the car. You can change the ID of that car to anything you want. It's kind of the same with money earned at the end of the race. You can add more money to each race.

I think the final version will have increased rewards from finishing races. It lets people earn money quickly to buy the stuff they want, but also makes it so you're encouraged to actually play the game.

Forza Horizon 1 XE Mod - version 1.01 hotfix

====RESOLVED ISSUES====
Some cars were behaving erratically, such as the 2013 Viper (this was due to wrongly assigned engines)
Some cars were missing body and/or wheel models
Some cars' audio was an incorrect volume
Engine/drivetrain swaps from the Project Underground mod were not available

Are you still fixing things in the mod? And what about the one for Horizon 2?

I noticed some more things as I kept testing the game (and Horizon 2 now as well). I posted on Discord about them, I'm gonna post here too to make it easier to find, if you have the time to work on it.

  • The Acura Integra and '00 Mustang SVT Cobra R have blank parts, seemingly from the RSX/'95 Mustang.
  • The '08 Subaru WRX has Null wheels (I also noticed the BMW M3 GTR has them in the Horizon 2 mod).
  • Cars from Horizon 2 that have removable parts have weird shadows where the parts are, when removed. This is from the models, not the mod, and would be impossible to fix right now, but one car that has this is the AMC Javelin, which is a DLC car in H1. If you used that one instead, at least that model would be correct.

Thanks for keeping a log of bugs and issues. If I ever come back to the mod it will be with a major update, which means someone would have created new mod tools or something. But if I do I'll be sure to fix those bugs.

That's nice.

What would be the modding possibility you would be looking for?

One that would be useful is adding the cars in Horizon 2 to the Car Divisions, since now if you use a new car all opponents will have the same car as yours. Luckily the new cars seem to work fine in Horizon 1.

And is it hard to fix these things? Because the null wheel on the Subaru and the blank parts on the Integra and Mustang might appear on AI (? - I noticed on street races the AI uses custom aero parts), which would look weird.

One problem I forgot to mention, there's one car which crashes the game when I try to see it in the Autoshow. It's a classic Ferrari, I think it's the first one in the list (can't check right now, I'm on my bed trying to sleep, I just remembered about it and came here to tell you).

There are a few things still up with it i've noticed, such as some of the added cars all having the same V6 sound, no matter what other engine you put into them, whether it's a swap option or editing what the stock engine is. Also, the cars from the Rally DLC & some others (like the Escort RS Cosworth) don't show up in-game unless you install the DLC, besides the Focus SVT which is just the null car. But with that installed, you can't use it since it acts like it it's dlc that is not installed. And since it mentions not to install the Rally DLC, don't see any other way for them to show up, unless i'm missing something. Do have the 1.01 patch installed as well, and are running it though xenia canary.

I'm not sure why but when I'm trying to install you xe mod for forza horizon 1 or 2 it gives me a error saying the disc is unreadable when booting the game. The game boots fine prior to replacing the files. I'm not using any title updates either
