Damn, all the premium stuff doesn't work. I can early access the game, but all the premium stuff is not available or inactive.
I guess it's because I am still unable to install all the premium things in the store. It's all available in my library but the install button doesn't do anything.

Damn, not a good start...

I saw that you expressed concern earlier in this thread that me and other new residents of New Zealand might cause the servers to overload and crash. You have a point, ofc. There is a risk that'll happen.

However, one could argue that there's still a somewhat staggered release, since I'm guessing that most people won't start playing the game until the regular release the 19th of May.

There's also the fact that the time zones surely will cause a lot of the players further west to not play the game right at the New Zealand release time. I mean, sure. If you live west of the Atlantic, you could technically set your alarm at sunrise to play early, but how many will actually do that?

Another factor that'll stagger the influx of players is the fact that it's a regular thursday in many countries. People have school and jobs to attend to. While it is a bank holiday here in Sweden and some other European countries, that's not the case elsewhere.

And lastly, typically a new game peaks in player numbers the weekend after the official release, not the release day.

So, I think we'll be fine. But should the servers crash, feel free to throw rotten tomatoes at me 😂😉

I had forgotten how much I hate the first couple hours of playing the Horizon games. After that it gets better, but man, let me skip all the cutscenes and stuff :yuck:

Oh, I forgot - but also there's not really a place for it in my review - that there's a cutscene every time you enter or exit The Estate.

As a fun note, I spotted a lot of places where there's a plot of land with some plant machinery parked up. Like, a lot. Given that TDUSC does this to mark where the houses will (now never) be, I wondered to myself if it could mark a place where something will be coming in the future...
 
2 questions:

1. I didn't order the premium version as I wanted to wait and see if certain cars were going to be added (They were), on the Microsoft store it shows as (Pre order), if I purchase it now will I still be able to play early?

2. How much space does the premium version of the game take up?

From what I hear, the Honda Acty (I believe that it is the 1988-1990 Acty's front), Nissan Gloria (Facelift apparently), and Mitusbishi Montero's got some interesting customization outside of the usual Forza Aero.

Acty has a widebody option
Gloria has genuine Nissan parts and extras
And I've not done the Monteros yet.

Definitely weightier handling, yes. You're also punished harsher if you try to brake and turn at the same time, which is more realistic. From what I can tell there's also a slightly better feeling of weight transfer. So far I really like it!

@UKMikey I also got my bottom handed to me in my first rally race. The AI is REALLY fast. Had to lower the difficulty to highly skilled.

I've tried both Performance and Visuals Mode and I prefer Performance. I just can't get over the feeling that everything moves in slow motion when I race at 30 fps. The visuals are still stunning at 60 fps though!

Btw, here are my wheel settings for anyone interested. I play with a belt driven Thrustmaster TS XW, so if you're on a direct drive wheel you might have to use slightly different settings.

135.9 GB on Series X and 147.6 GB on PC. Yes, you should be able to play early if you purchase now, and play right away if you change your console's region/time.

Can confirm less pop-in. Maybe it's the lighting but the graphics look more detailed than FH5 to me.

BTW folks, unless you're in a hurry, I'd recommend turning the auto What's Next menu off in the HUD & Gameplay settings if you don't want to teleport between quali events and miss out on discovery.

It seems like my flight from Mexico to Japan has been delayed at least 6 months maybe more. So I hope everybody who was able make the trip Japan that you enjoy it. I am going to hang around in Mexico just a wee bit longer especially since I just arrived a few weeks back.
 
My favourite three things about the game so far:

1) Announcers during the qualifiers
2) Breakable trees
3) Having to stop at level crossings while the Shinkansen train goes by

Least favourite thing so far: The crowd countdown at the start of the race is in English. C'mon, Toobin, people in other countries play this game as well so I would've preferred a san-ni-ichi sample.

Helena has a very posh voice. She makes ANNA sound like Lorraine Chase by comparison.

Two hours may be slow for some people but I'm watching all the replays and stopping to look at the beautiful scenery between races.

Are the replays worth watching? Don't think I've sat and watched replays since GT4 hahah. But if it looks good enough I'd be tempted.

Interestingly, I've heard both...

I've also heard Mei pronounce "touge" two entirely different ways, and shouted at the captioner for the wrong "its".

Almost wish they wouldn't keep swapping the radio stations. It's hard to keep it locked to Chris and Dynamite MC. The Sub Pop guys Abbie and Atticus seem to have pretty good chemistry together though.
