Yes and no. I like DLSS because without it on my deeply mid-range laptop, I wouldn't be able to enjoy FH6 and other games without them being a stuttery mess.

I'm not even an AI hater. I feel like it can have it's place, but that place should never be at the expense of artists and creatives.
The issue is, AI is not being used in good ways currently. It uses a ton of water, and damages the environment. And for what? So restaraunts can AI generate images for their menus? If you have to use AI for that, you are obviously not confident in your food.

It is being used to take away actual creative work, and taking jobs away from actually creative people. I work in IT and Cyber, and have seen a lot of people losing their jobs in the Cyber field because companies would rather use AI (horrible idea by the way, quick way to screw your company over) because it is cheaper. It might not affect you, but it affects so many others. I know my brother is currently trying hard to learn new skills because he knows he is in danger of losing his job due to it.

Easy example, look at Call of Duty. Their new game is littered with AI, and it looks horrible.

The negatives outweigh the positives. AI could absolutely be positive, but it is heavily abused, and the damage is it causing to the environment should be one of the biggest red flags. Sadly, people do not really seem to care about that, because they would rather make an AI generated meme.

Also, why bring up Michael? They wouldn't even agree with you. The one thing I agree on with them was their dislike for AI.

Now, since this is a Horizon 6 thread, any speculation on what they will call series 6? Because I am guessing something like "Convience Run" or close to that since there will be a 7/11.

I do feel like I was too nice to it in that comment. I am against the way it is currently being used but I can see how it could be used in a good way. Ya the potential means very little when the current use is so crap.

Cars of 7-Eleven is the trademark for the 7-Eleven car meets that Larry Chen photographs. Not sure if PG collab includes that branding too and esp since Larry himself is in the game and has a partnership with 7-Eleven.

I don't see FH6 going the way of FM2023 but I'm still a bit nervous, or was, so this is a good sign. Hopefully they can use that as motivation to recenter the missing social experiences and keep up the improvements and updates. The "community" (of influencers and Redditors) has been chiseling the tombstone for a while and franchise fatigue has taken a toll, but I'd like to think this is the kind of success that can give them more room for forward motion and long-term dedication.

Bear in mind these are estimated figures but if they're accurate they don't take into account the revenue from MS Store and future PlayStation sales, so I kinda doubt the franchise is going anywhere just yet.

I feel I need to chime in here because, despite what's on the "bin" for DLSS, XeSS, and FSR, they are not AI. At least not the way you seem to be suggesting.

They're trained on AI models, but the upscaler itself is not AI the same way DLSS 5 is specifically.

And, yes, I despise AI. In the ways it can be genuinely impactful and move things forward would have no adverse effects on, well, anything at all really. Tell me, does this currently appear to be the case?

I wonder if this means we're getting a Horizon Story alongside the collab? Larry Chen probably recorded a few extra lines in the studio, this would be a good time to use em.

If so, it'd make sense; Drift Club Mexico was added along with Series 6 (Horizon Customs, if I remember correctly) , and that was basically a car culture update. Maybe they'll have Larry Chen come back and ask the player for help with the magazine collab--and acting as an introduction to Japanese car culture. Konbini car meets aren't exactly common knowledge for most players.

Never before have I seen a technology where we must be repeatedly told "You'd better get with the times or you'll be left behind!" For four years straight. Go ahead and get back to me about generative AI when the true costs of it are no longer subsidized

FH6 is pretty enough as is without the slop machine having a go at ruining the art direction. All this for the low low cost of not being able to afford hardware anymore, for an industry which has no true demand. An industry that has to do accounting trickery everytime somebody dares to ask "hey so uhh you guys are profitable, right?". What a joke.

Yes.

On my ignore list. Like you, now.

Damn I had no idea how hive minded this forum was on this issue, I know it's very left leaning but seems Resetera esque in its hate for AI. The thing is DLSS5 is the future, AMD are also working on neural rendering since 2024. PS6 will likely have some form of it, diminishing returns has fully set on with hardware and console generations get smaller and smaller in their jumps diminish, this is a genuinely exciting moment for computer graphics.

You have seen the Terminator films mate? This can't end well, we both know it.....
That’s exactly what I was just about to write. When the first "Terminator" movie came out a few decades ago, people thought things like Skynet or battles against robot armies were pure science fiction—stuff that would never become reality. But looking at the hacking capabilities of AI systems and the motor skills of robots today, one isn't so sure anymore.

I also wonder if they scanned his 7-Eleven E30 that is raced in the NASA Spec BMW series. If there was a story mode car to unlock this would be it.

You can see what I assume to be the Supra we are getting at 7Collection. They also sell some Larry Chen shirts. https://7collection.com/collections/cars-of-7-eleven-collection

Also here:

(sadly no update post today it seems like but here’s another pic of the car. I think he’s working on an E36 as well)

The intrigue thickens, to be sure. If he has his own 7-Eleven themed race car, even if it's only in a minor series, then absolutely they'll want it in the game in some form, though I can't imagine they'd want it to steal the spotlight from the Supra 7/Eleven livery they're already going to add.

Oh, and to add even more fuel to the Horizon Story fire--Series 6 in FH4 added the Skill Streak Horizon Story, the same way FH5 added Drift Club Mexico in its Series 6 update--right down to including a collaboration car, the Quartz Regalia from Final Fantasy XV in FH4 and Vaughn Gittin Jr's Ford Mustang Mach-E drift car in FH5 for what I assume was a marketing collab with Ford Performance. If tradition holds, we're absolutely due for it.

They’ve even made a diecast of it for LA diecast brand Kaido House that I have in my personal collection. With his signature! It’s really neat (Which is how I learned about this lol)

Oh that's very neat! Rare that you see a car from such an obscure motorsports series get so much love.

For my money, I dunno if I'd think of this car as a particularly exciting collaboration reward--heck, even the Donut Media HiLow cars and their associated buddies added in Upgrade Heroes were more useful and perhaps more fun stock than a touring car spec E30. But dang if it wouldn't get eyes on NASA racing, especially with the influx of motorsport track cars we seem to have been getting lately.

EDIT: Found a YouTube video of NASA E30 racing just for a laugh--Chen's E30 doesn't take long to show up!

I agree Populuxe and Tomo 427-MS, I’ve never been a fan of AI to “enhance” the game’s graphic. It just ruined some of the game’s artstyles for me.
DLSS5 doesn't ruin the art style of any game where it's officially supported because the devs are able to manually adjust its effect to make the game look how they want it to look.

If people want to hack it into unsupported games, you can't really blame the tech for that.

The rate of progress from chip fabrication improvements has slowed to a crawl, tech like DLSS5 is the workaround for how to get closer to photorealism without significant hardware advances.

You know the person you're replying to can't see this, right? Because you're on their ignore list...

Which brings me to the related matter of don't attempt to be "cute" in the future with a gif like that. You knew full well what you were doing and you know how the AUP works.

Even then, everything I've seen of it injected in other games has the sliders on max with no real variance other than swapping between the three presets.

If it can be tuned so that it has little to absolutely no effect on facial geometry and other character model features (outside of perhaps hair) then I'd be fully onboard with that to a certain degree.

That's the second time in barely a week you've mentioned me (without actually tagging me) in this thread for... no real reason I can see:
October's update being the first 'Car Culture' update of the game makes sense--although I think I just heard Famine screaming in the distance about how pointless quirky car culture things are in video games. :P
You should probably see a doctor about that, and learn to trust that the version of me that lives inside your head is very much not the real me.

Would you like to explain what's going on here?

I just remember you not really having the best of reactions to Horizon Cars and Coffee back in FH5, that's all. Probably me exaggerating things for the sake of a joke. :P
