Frozen lake confirmed.
yes and no

it seems to be a frozen lake, but i feel this one is on the permanent winter alpine area (PG confirmed the icewall area will be permantly in winter)
the map seems still too vague and we had not saw some areas (eg tokyo city area) in the winter

I hadn't checked the official car list until yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised to see the cars included in the time attack car pack:

In an ideal world we would've gotten these time attack monsters in FM '23 as well. But oh well. Can't have everything, I guess 😂🤷‍♂️

At no point did I say it's a lake that freezes in winter.

And it doesn't just look like a frozen lake, it clearly is a frozen lake.

Are you trying to teach the priest how to say mass?

Someone on reddit has updated their mock for the FH6 map.

Going to love to see how close they get to the final map.

Speaking of map predictions, have you seen this? It's all just speculation ofc, but it seems like the map could be a whole lot bigger than FH5 😊

386sq miles is massive..

I highly doubt this is the case and I think that's a wild wild overestimation

That's an almost 8-9x increase from FH5 - and considering the maps from previous games have never even 2x the previous versions map...I think a calculation has gone wrong here.

Will happily eat crow if I'm wrong though.

Yeah, it sounds a bit too good to be true. But I would be happy if I was wrong😊

I wonder when they'll reveal the whole map. If I remember correctly they revealed the FH5 map in August 2021, 3 months before the release in November. But I guess we'll have to wait longer this time🤔

It is indeed a large estimation - we shall see how accurate it turns out to be. I've been following his videos on mapping out in-game locations from the trailers and teasers and he does seem to be very familiar with the evidence presented before him - perhaps moreso than anyone else outside PGG and T10. I'd bet that it is an overestimation, but not by a great degree.

1000 sq km would be close to 4x the size of crew Motorfest and close to 8x the size of FH5. It would be unprecedented for any (modern) racing game barring TDU 1 and TDU2 (only smaller than Oahu, about 50% larger than Ibiza)

I don't think it will be that big. At most I see 1.5x to 2x of FH5 (~200sq km)

I'm not sure about his estimation about total map size as it seems based on a quite a few approximations.

But he does bring up one point that I find interesting, it's that most the map looks like dense hills and forests that aren't really driveable. So that indicates the map could be bigger (or even way bigger) but with less road density. From a development perspective it's possible that they used some type of procedural generation to make more of the natural terrain faster (and especially cheaper), and the game releasing only to new consoles means draw distance is not an issue anymore. Seems plausible.

it is already confirmed that would be a bit larger than FH5 so i am wondering how much time will take to go a side to another of the track considering how long it is on FH5

i also wonder how much GBs the game will be, i wonder if will reach 200gbs just for the basic map not counting the cars

i wonder if any game will surpass TDU1 and TDU2 maps someday, also i wonder what happened to things look so bloated nowadays vs 20 years ago to the point people used to make nice realistic maps with 10x the game size

it is due the textures? the polygons?

I really hope not. Dense forests look nice, but they are essentially just wasted space in a driving game...there is a reason I rarely visited the southeast quarter of FH5's map.

Yes, but we also never had a window this long in between two Horizon games. Traditionally there's been a two year gap between games; FH5 came out a full three years after FH4, but one has to account for the 2020 factor.
I doubt the map is going to be as massive as the specific YT video speculates, but if it was 4-5x the size of the FH4 map, I wouldn't be too surprised. And their emphasis on specific biomes in the pre-release hype campaign makes sense if they have enough space to avoid turning them into "theme park areas" with five drivable streets total.

Also: FH6 is the first game in the series that's not limited by XBONE compatibility. We haven't see a huge leap in graphical fidelity from FH5... And granted, it would've been foolish to expect one, but it wouldn't be downright unreasonable to think that they've got something else gobbling up resources.

Depends what you think "wasted space" is. The TDU1 map had basically no offroad, but I don't think people would qualify the space between roads as wasted space. I think more space between points of interests is not a bad thing, would make free roaming more immersive. FH5 has the opposite problem, the map is too dense, too many different biomes, too many settlements, and the transitions between each are too sudden. Free roaming never feels like driving in a real place. I've been returning to FH4 lately and despite being smaller I feel the map was better in this aspect.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but on FH6's Steam page they list all the 6 biomes of the FH6 map (although only 5 is described in the text). I haven't seen this info anywhere else. The one missing in the text is probably the city/Tokyo biome 🤔

No video today, then? The scheduling of these is getting quite confusing to me.
My guess is that they wanted to take a day off showing new content, judging by the fact they release a post via steam talking about the new biomes that we already saw. So perhaps tomorrow will see something new?

Unless they wanted to wait and post something new hours later but hey who knows.

My hope is that we wont get anything until Friday this week. And on Friday I think we'll get some sort of announcement for maybe the "lets go" streams or something in that direction.

I think we might just get one every other day this week and most likely that will be a new car reveal. I think they are saving the Tokyo biome for a big reveal.

So have they switched to doing vehicle reveals for the time being then? Again, it's been quite inconsistent lately so I never really know what to expect each day. The TRX is a great choice, I just hope the rest of the car list reveal isn't one at a time.
I don't get how inconsistent they are with this. Regional accounts end up posting way before the main account does, as if they don't sync up properly.

And the worst part is we get muddy Twitter compressed 720p videos.

The ram looks like it's on slicks in the video

Spanish Forza Twitter account uploaded this.

We finally get a look of the industrial part of Tokyo.

So, that's 12 New to Forza cars if we don't count the DLC cars.

And I wonder, will the photo mode improvements be carried from FH5 to FH6?

They've been quite inconsistent. We have had anything from 0 info to two info drops (biome + car).

I do hope everything is fine behind the scenes.
I think PGG ran out of content, or are keeping the best ones for last. Also, no New to Forza JDM has been posted on their social media accounts, outside of the JDMs that we've seen in the Dev Direct. Makes me think that they are really keeping the best for last.
