However, the Yangwang U9 Xtreme is expected to appear in GT7 first.
Do you have any hard evidence of that? I've only seen rumours from months ago but nothing since (https://www.gtplanet.net/yangwang-u9-extreme-rumored-gt7-20251022/)

Some thoughts and analysis:

PD just added Xiaomi's SU7 Ultra as their first Chinese car and manufacturer. However Xiaomi and Byd/Yangwang are competitors.

FH5 already has MG (Cyberster, MG6, MG7), NIO (EP9), Wuling (Mini EV, Sunshine) and XPeng (P7). Let's see:
  • SAIC owns MG.
  • SAIC and GM jointly own Wuling.
  • XPeng has close relationship with VW.
  • NIO is complicated (Middle East, Tencent and US hedge funds).
Xiaomi and Byd, on the other hand, are both very much purely Chinese companies, so not available through any existing relationships to GT7 or Forza. So it's indeed possible that Byd/Yangwang will indeed partner with GT7 before Forza, but since Xiaomi and Byd have no relationship there's no guarantee.

I wonder what will actually happen.

P.S. I'd love for the Yangwang U8 to come to FH6. It's not suitable for Gran Turismo after all, especially due to it's swimming party piece:

"Collecting Stamps for your Collection Journal will unlock new Player Houses around Japan with Customizable Garages for you to buy, as well as Barn Find Rumors and The Estate – a mountain valley where you can build and decorate directly in the open world."

Good to know that Barn Finds will return!

"Whether you’re taking photos while cruising the roads of Japan, delivering food as a side hustle, collecting new cars, or playing through Horizon Stories, you will always be earning progress towards your next Stamp."

I wonder how the tofu delivery job will work alongside Horizon Stories.

Regarding the Festival Progression:

  • Start as tourist, no past fame is carried over
  • Build a name for yourself to become a Horizon Legend
  • 2 new characters will accompany you through the game - Mei (Experienced Japanese car builder) and Jordy (passionate motorsport enthusiast)
  • Mei can give you authentic day trips to experience each unique region
  • Horizon Qualifiers -> Horizon Invitational -> 1st wristband
  • Festival races require you to enter using a specific set of cars in Road, Dirt and Cross Country events
  • Wristbands unlock new races (with new themes) and each tier is for faster cars.
  • Wristband progression happens using Festival events (races), PR stunts and skills.
  • Race customizer (like blueprint) will unlock after a race is completed once.
  • Number of Drivatars (up to 11), season, weather, time of day, time progression, number of laps, Rewind availability, camera lock, and traffic can be customized.
  • By Default, the Race Customizer will select a Car Theme that matches your current car, and there are also several other Car Themes to choose from, including pre-made classes and type-based restrictions. If you prefer, you can even pick each individual car that is permitted for the event.
  • Set up an event as the Convoy leader, the rest of the Convoy will join you and play that event the same way you shaped it.
  • You can always casually drive to a Car Meet and join or start a Convoy, and from there, participate in open world activities alongside each other or set up fun and unique events using the Race Customizer.
  • you must complete a thrilling Wristband Event to earn your next Wristband. These include spectacular Showcase Events – you might have caught a glimpse of ‘Chaser Zero’, Horizon’s own racing mech at the end of the Developer_Direct video – as well as the brand-new Horizon Rush events featuring exciting locations at Tokyo City Docks, the Sotoyama Ski Resort and Irokawa Space Center.
  • Horizon Rush: Complete exhilarating obstacle courses as quicky as possible to earn the maximum stars. Throughout the course, splits will track your time helping you improve, whether you’re aiming for three stars, or the top of the leaderboards.
  • There are 7 Wristbands to obtain before becoming a Horizon Legend.
  • This unlocks Legend Island with a Legend Island Circuit and unique evests (including the Colossus - looping the entire map on the freeway, which is the longest Goliath ever)

Regarding Discover Japan:
  • Obtain Stamps (instead of Wristbands to progress)
  • Inspired by Japan’s rich stamp collecting history
  • Taking photos, Delivering Food, Collecting cars, playing Horizon Stories will earn you progress
  • Touge battles and Street races (night only?) will be part of Discover Japan.
  • This will be the only place to race cars that you will not be able to use in Festival Events just yet.
  • For example: With the structured restrictions of the Horizon Festival, Hypercars can’t be used in Festival races until you’ve obtained at least the Purple Wristband. which is quite late into the game. This means players who want to stay engaged in the stricter progression system can do that in the official Horizon Festival events, while others who want to immediately jump into the fastest cars will have unofficial events as part of Discover Japan open to them.
  • Collecting Stamps for your Collection Journal will unlock new Player Houses around Japan with Customizable Garages for you to buy, as well as Barn Find Rumors and The Estate – a mountain valley where you can build and decorate directly in the open world.
  • Track your campaign progression across both Horizon Festival and Discover Japan in the Collection Journal.
  • Each of these paths can be progressed at your leisure. If you’re the type of player who wants to embark on your own road trips, there’s great news for you too – everything that you discover in Japan is tracked in your Collection Journal. It’s also where you can redeem unique rewards for completing specific activities and challenges, and these will include cars, credits, and cosmetic items.
  • Additionally, anything that you photograph for your Collection Journal will be saved there, so you always have a wonderful keepsake of your adventures to look back on. And if you capture a better photo later, you can even swap them out!

I wonder if Fujimi Kaido or Hakone or even better, maybe both could make an appearance in the game. That'd be sick in the best of ways for Japan fans like me and my older bro. He sometimes goes to visit Japan!
I would hope at the very least they can sneak in a Hakone, it's only fitting. I think Fujimi could be too big but who knows. There's several tracks they can throw into this game from Japan including the two mentioned above. It would add a track day element into this game for the race cars that are inevitably being added plus it would mark a first for a Horizon game.

I enjoy every bit of this. Structured races with certain cars means even there is a good sense of progression, starting with a lower class and moving to higher ones as we progress. Similar to Hot Wheels in FH5. But it also provides the ability to use a higher tier car for exploring and free roaming if I just want to run around and find things.

As a collector, the collection feature intrigues me as well, and it sounds like it won't just throw cars at you like previous Horizon games and you will actually have to work at getting a good collection.

Come on release day!

Imagine doing a seventeen-minute lap of The Colossus when your car grinds to a halt five yards from the finish line 'cos you forgot to fill up.

Colossus looking distressed.webp

At least maybe it might make The Trial a bit more interesting.

Literally happened to me in an endurance race at Mugello in FM4. I was leading on the last lap when my 288GTO ground to a stop in the final corner, out of fuel. I didn’t have enough momentum to make it to the finish line, or even the pits. Something like 90 minutes wasted.

So, Irokawa Space Center seems like it's a made up location (from what I could find online). But perhaps it's inspired by Tanegashima Space Center which exist IRL 🤔

It seems like it could fit nicely somewhere along the coastline. Perhaps not too far away from Legend Island😊

I really like the idea of a space center being somewhere on the map! It reminds me a lot of those more fun areas in FH1-3 that were there just to be there. Particularly I think of the golf course from FH2.

Personally, the only thing I think that might happen to FH6 as a result of this is the "increased monetisation" referred to in Asha's email. So I wouldn't be surprised to see paid DLC packs earlier and more of them.

Oh, and i already thought T10 would likely be wound up and staff integrated into PG as soon as the PS5 port is finished and main bugs sorted, but I am feeling that to be even more likely now.

The biggest impact, in my opinion, will be to FH7 which I believe is going will be churned out with the bulk of it generated by Microsoft AI (note: Microsoft AI is all perfect and contains zero AI slop [sarcasm alert]).

My own personal interpretation of Asha's "AI slop" reference is:
Everybody else's AI : "AI slop"
Microsoft's AI: 100% perfect, just like grassy meadows on an idyllic summer day.
I have a gut-feeling (after read Asha career) that now that Phil is gone, Satya will do what he wanted to do with xbox in the first place: Spin-off into a new company or sell it all (or a part of new company shares) to the highest bidder (right now i feel would be between Apple, Amazon, Meta and mayyyyyybeeeee tencent but tencent is also doing cuts, saudis are out beacuse EA and cuts)

how it would impact forza is unknown, but basically the new CEO is there to be a caretaker and maybe help with a possible IPO of the new company, if needed (Asha had done a succesful IPO before). this why asha is being nice and most listening to the people, also why she semmly is free to do what she wants and even allowed to mention and use the term "Slop" (Satya HATES the term): beacuse Xbox won't be part of microsfot (at least directly) very soon...

but, hey that is my gut feelings and i was wrong before

just a side note about forza horizon and profits, the actual system for horizon is not only profitable enough, i feel she will mirror it to other xbox games specially if FH6 be another profitable success for Xbox, but i feel they may hit a road block that it is...

I hope the game be as good for those that likes the sandbox element of FH4/FH5, i know it turns off a lot of hardcore fans (including some here), BUT some of reasons why both 4 and 5 still sells a lot, is due the easyness of get any car you want, drive around race with it

Hardcore racers hate it, but most casual players seems to like it enough to make Forza Horizon 5 the second most played racing game of all time (first obviously is mario kart 8)

if they go with "hey you can't do campaign missions just yet, but dont worry: we have those special ''''unsantioned'''' races for you" at least i hope it has a similar number as horizon festival races, beacuse otherwise, will turn off many that see horizon more as a car sandbox than a propper classic racing game

This what was my biggest problem with the FH5 hot-wheels DLC, the progression there was great (and i assume is where they are using parts of it for FH6), but, outside of the pgoression, there had nothing else to do if you wanted do a casual drive or a quick race with some random 999X car outside of campain, in some times you were pratically forced to race the campain if you wanted use some car just for unserious fun

it is actlaly very similar akin to the "snow vs no-snow" debate, the reason why FH5 pratically removed all snow was breacuse most people disliked winter in FH4, but hardcore fans complanied so much that they are bringing it back. i am sure they wont do a update to remove all snow for the FH5 map obivusly, but i still imagine how it would impact FH7 (if it contunes being produced the same way as before)

I totally suck at drifting, so I hope drifting isn't a mandatory requirement on the way to Legend Island.
That is another part of above debate, as well, how hard it would get to reach this island, if is too hard, it will turn off some players that like exploring as well

i get the idea of "reward for hard work" but sometimes people dont want their car game to look like freaking dark souls
still waiting Proton in Forza :(
The fact that proton already has a hotwheels but not any car on Forza is borderline criminal
i mean, it shouldnt be that hard take a small trip to the proton factory in east asia nad ask them to scan a car and put in the game, i am sure proton woiuld love have the gaer just like they liked have the hot wheels

Food deliveries? Excited for Doordash: The Game

to be fair, we had car delivery missions in the past, and also the taxi missions
i am sure we will have afew with Ar86 for sure

if PG is smart, they could give away the Toyota Auto Body COMS as prize for get all stars in the missions
It is a common delivery driver used by convenience stores and pizza places in japan

i heared toyota plans to make a new generation, but the GEN 2 will be always my favorites
the pizza ones i found from a japanese traffic incident website, they have a area to post about rare cars and so it seems the 7-Eleven one is more common than the Pizza-LA one

Irokawa Space Center seems like it's a made up location (from what I could find online). But perhaps it's inspired by Tanegashima Space Center which exist IRL
That is usual on ficctional japanese media or media in japan, its seems hard to get JAXA (Japanese NASA) license outside certain contents, so people end up making ficctional bases overall

Asha seems to change jobs every 2 years, like many "top" people seem to do now. The larger the firm, the less time people stay with it - same happened at my last job.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if she is there to oversee a "project" and then will leave for another job in 2 years time.
I still don't think this will have any significant effect on FH6 though.

As for the length of time to "unlock" hypercars - it's not going to take very long to progress to that stage. My guess is it will take about the same time as in FH1, the same time as it took to get to Legend in FH5.
