@McLaren Get in here and share my anger.

my fear: a lot Catedral, Bola Ocho tracks
The 8-Ball is one of my favourite tracks. I could do it in my sleep.

i actualy like those tracks beacuse they are short-fast tracks and most open road circuits in FH5 looked too much simillar
You say that, but my B-class grip build Sprite absolutely dominates at those tracks.
those tracks only proofed that B and A classes were the best to race at in FH5

Not sure if this article was posted - not much of anything new in here though.
I note that Kyoko Yama****a--the cultural liaison PG's using--mentions that Japan isn't really so much a country of four seasons so much as it is a country that has "72 micro-seasons." I'm going to take that to mean that, rather than the character of the map itself changing with each individual season, PG will try to make sure the differences extend between individual biomes. i.e., a touge pass in the summer will have a different feel than Tokyo in summer, and the floodplains in spring or winter will feel different than the same touge pass in the same seasons.

I tend to agree. ForzaTech absolutely crapped the bed its first time out and it never really... got fixed? so far as I know. Playground has its engine from Horizons past, we know it's been enough for most PCs, and Japan has windy enough roads and is in general mountainous enough that you're probably not gonna see much need for cars goin' 300 MPH all the time. Unless Hot Wheels was another test for what happens when that restriction is removed, but we'll need to see on that front.
I have a different opinion on that....

My thought is that the Forzatech engine from FM2023 was originally struggling at launch, but at some point the FH6 team was given the engine in order to revise it for FH6, and their work was also somewhat pushed back into FM2023. The reason I believe this is because of Fujimi Kaido.

In my opinion, the launch engine for FM2023 simply couldn't have delivered Fujimi Kaido, yet we got it this year. And I suspect that it was PG who made that possible.

P.S. One reason I believe this is because of a FM2023 interview where the T10 team mentioned that the PG team had developed comprehensive RTGI tech which they were intending to port into the latest Forzatech engine... Although they never managed it for FM2023.

Not sure why you're all having such issues typing Kyoko Yamaѕһіta...
I can't help but notice she has the same initials as Kazunori. Do you think there was a mix up at the interview?

RTGI is in FM.

This was just a beautiful coincidence as I just landed back from Japan after 2 weeks there this very week, and of course, I visited Hakone and Tokyo among others, so if they nail the locations, I can confirm this is simply the best map yet in a Horizon game hands down.

And among the many things I have questions about...there is a small detail I wonder about. Starting with FH2, they got a bit 'lazy' regarding the traffic cars, FH1 had unplayable but real cars that made sense as traffic in Colorado, and since then, the Fiesta-Bora-Legacy fest has been a bit boring to see, I really hope they let those rest for good and build an actual traffic set for this game, as it's simply part of the whole experience, it's a vibe of its own when you look around, and the default traffic won't cut it at all, especially when you consider that not only those cars are not representative at all of the traffic in Japan in any period, but now it's even worse, since as we know cars older then 5 years are 'rare' to some extent, due to the shaken inspections among other factors (Oldest Prius I spotted were all 3rd gens), and now those traffic cars are 15-20 years old. (In fact, I spotted more Ferraris than Fords...just one. Again, in 2 weeks. A Fiesta funnily enough)

If I had to choose 10 cars for traffic, based on my observations, they would be as follow:

-Toyota JPN Taxi and/or Crown Confort Taxi depending on the area
-Toyota Sienta
-Nissan Note 3rd Gen
-Toyota Prius 5th Gen
-Daihatsu Move Canbus
-Nissan NV100 Clipper
-Toyota Voxy/Alphard
-Daihatsu Taft
-Mitsubishi Delica
-Toyota Probox
-Suzuki Hustler

And...that was 11 in fact. Or 13 if you count both taxis and Toyota vans, even with that of course a bunch of quite seen cars are left out, but I think these ones give a good representation of the traffic, having a bit of everything (And I didn't add the Isuzu/Hino buses, trucks...). But again, this for me at least is a crucial detail I really want to see, I don't expect them to nail them or even get close to a list like that...but as far as they move away from the FH2-FH5 traffic we're definitely moving forward.

EDIT: It would be lovely to also be able to have realistic license plates to some degree, I get they are trying a creative approach and/or maybe they want to avoid legal issues in any way, but again, Japanese plates are quite iconic so I hope they don't try something too fictional here (but anyway, I'm expecting something like the one in the teaser...)

EDIT 2: In the traffic list, I still need to add the Toyota HiAce, the most common van by far...really hard to stick to just 10 cars. The Nissan AD is also quite a common sight.

Oh yeah, the HiAce will probably be FH6's equivalent of the Tsuru, a uniquely Japanese car that somehow ends up being the most highly requested car for FH6 because of how ubiquitious it is. :P I know you said it'd probably end up as a traffic car, but... I can't see it not being playable in some form. I just can't.

My understanding is that FM2023 only does RTAO and ray traced car-bodywork reflections, not full global illumination...

They added RTGI alongside Bathurst in update 15

While FM has RTGI, it's a PC feature only that maybe only the top Nvidia cards (-80 and -90 series, whether they are 4080-4090s, or 5080-5090s) can fully use. In my 4070 Super the visual gain over just using car reflections + RTAO (@ high quality) is minimal at best, and does carry a performance hit that then I have to compensate by upscaling and using fluid frames which of course increase input lag...

I hope they don't try to get RTGI in FH6, because FH games on PC (3/4/5) are benchmark darlings that can run smoothly at high graphics in at least 4 generations of video cards, and it has to run in the base consoles too: Xbox Series S and eventually PS5.

Well, having at least some as playable would be definitely welcome of course, so it's a win-win for everybody, traffic is accurate and you get to play with them and of course actually drive them...the HiAce would be a riot for roleplaying as delivery drivers going up and down the mountains, I can already see it.
