I just find it baffling that after spending years begging for a Horizon set in japan most people are now doing a 180 and going "ackshually it's gonna suck"
That's just the current trend. Support something and then when it actually happens, hate it.

It's probably their own fault for setting their expectations way too high.

You're telling me an unfinished game is unfinished?!

No way!

I guess "PRE-RELEASE IN-GAME FOOTAGE" on the bottom of the entire video wasn't enough of a hint.

Youtube influencers ability to find "controversy" in anything is quite amazing.

The biggest problem I noticed with the video is that IGN recorded it in HDR and posted it in SDR which washed out the entire image.
My attitude towards most "influencers":

The only one I watch is HokiHoshi.

My game "influencers" are all here on

I would argue its not most people, it's just the loudest people.

Is it just me, or is the sense of speed off? In the city, just after 2min30 when they turn right and drive down the narrowest street which looks like a kind of 'normal' road that we're used to; it just feels slow, somewhere around 40-50mph when the speedo says 84?

Over 84mph in a normal street in a built up area, should surely feel a lot more, exciting?

Anyway, is there any mapping project for FH6 like GTA6, just the roads would do based on what we see in the navi map?

Gas stations are more than likely scenery props with no actual function outside of making the city/map feel more realistic and offering photomode ops.

Still didn't see any convenience stores or coffee vending machines, though.
There have been gas stations spotted about 3 times now, as well as convenience store(s) small ones so far.

We also seem to be getting lots of parking lots of to the side kinda hidden and not at the same time.
One here looks really cool for taking pictures at night, its a parking lot with lots of stores with actual interiors and names brands you name it obv forzas own versions and stuff. Pretty cool!

Okay friends the pictures don’t really do justice since the gameplay was published in 30fps alongside with motion blur it I’m not wrong. So I have decided to dig juuussst a slightly bit deeper into the gameplay and would love to point out what I have notted and seen so far.

I would first love to show you guys a minute of gameplay ( Tokyo City) kinda get a better perspective of what the buildings are and where they are in the map.

Here's the 1 Minute footage i took of the gameplay when they reached Tokyo.

MAJOR TIMESTAMPS
(0:55) seconds shows first gas station which is based off of Eneos stations in japan
(1:04) Japanese convenience store small one that it most of them are small in japan anyways
(1:14) Second gas station
(1:18) small store plaza parking lot

messed up a bit guess i'll just use the actual footage lol

once they entered tokyo you can see the gas station inspired by eneos irl, then see small stores at the side prob convinience stores, then we see another gas station( around 3-4 already confirmed ) then a couplke seconds before leaving we see a sort of Store plaza parking area with seems to be actual interiors and store names

Kind of how i imagine the stores will look like in actual gameplay i'm sure we will have more that we haven't seen yet maybe outside of tokyo city?

and the second image is basically what small store plazas could look like especially at night time.

I also very much hope the Rainbow Bridge in-game lights up really good during the nighttime. As well as Tokyo city and it's Tokyo tower

I appreciate that they haven't gone overboard with the cherry blossoms. I had my worries that the map was going to be a caricature of Japan but thankfully it doesn't seem that way. The cherry blossoms do still exist, but they've shown restraint in choosing where to put them.

If the FH6 map has 660 roads and FH5 had 578, is this map going to be significantly larger, or not, in size? It doesn't sound like a massive jump.

Leaving aside the fact that the increase in roads is not linear in relation to the increase in map size, I just want to emphasize that the increase in the number of roads from FH4 to FH5 was less than it is from FH5 to FH6.

We have 531 roads in the FH4, 578 in the FH5, and 662 in the FH6 according to yesterday's video.

My bet is about 1.3-1.4x FH5's size. I've seen people say 2.5x, 3x, even 5 - 10x which I think is crazy.

The maps have only ever incrementally gotten bigger, why now would we see such a massive jump in size especially with how dense and detailed this map is looking?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for it to be 2x FH5, but I have my doubts.

Honestly my hope even before FH6 was that the map either wouldn't increase in size, or if it did that it wouldn't be that much bigger. The reason being is that it felt as if FH5 didn't have a lot of the fun side areas and secret areas like FH1-4 did (albeit 4 was a bit weak on these too in my opinion). My big hope (and it seems this is coming to fruition) is for a denser map packed with detail, rather than a bigger one that is still sparse much like FH5 was.

Even still I don't quite know how to word it, but I loved those sorts of side areas in the first four games, and it seems like we're getting back to that which is great! I don't know if FH5's map turned out the way it did entirely because of the eliminator choices or if it was separate design choices, but it felt more sparse and bigger for the sake of being bigger. FH6's map seems like a great improvement in so many of the areas that I internalized but couldn't quite put into words. Very grateful for that.

Not looking forward to the long months of '659/660 roads discovered' ahead of us unless they make the map zoom stronger. :indiff:
As long as they don't have roads on top of roads like in TDUSC where you literally can't see whether you've driven on the lower road or not :(

PS I am deliberately avoiding any videos of the game. I know I will definitely be playing it in May, anyway, and I don't want to spoil the experience.

Regarding map size: Something that struck me was how very little this showcase seemed to show of the map, even though the Saleen was zooming around at good speed for 9 minutes (okay 8.5, but still 😉).

We only saw 6 out of 74 areas and 6 out of 662 roads.

I agree that the estimations of a map size 5-10 times bigger is an exaggeration, but it feels bigger. And more importantly, it feels denser and not flat and "elimimator-friendly" like FH5 😊

Looks like the same stretch as on GT7's Tokyo, but I've not noticed that station building there before. Did PD leave it out?!
