I find that FH6 does actually have less content than FH5, but that's mostly due to 5's Accolade mechanic giving players a laundry list of stuff to do, inspired by the Festival Playlist--time trials in the open world, performing skills with certain cars, even requiring that you end up in the upper echelons of Rivals leaderboards with every class in the game.

FH6's Collection Journal, meanwhile, is a lot more like FH4--they trimmed out all the fat from progression, but in so doing it feels like there's less to do overall. The loss of open world challenges especially leaves a gaping hole in the progression. But I personally think that's not a huge issue; just a side effect of trying to refocus on the festival after FH5 went more for the 'adventure' side of things.

It also matters which kind of player you are. I've never been huge on multiplayer, much less esports or anything super-competitive or highly social, so a lot of the complaints seem out of my jurisdiction while some things I'd been hoping for were actually improved. One of the most important things FH6 did to improve the gameplay for me was to make custom singleplayer races a lot easier to jump into instead of requiring the creation of dedicated blueprints, and that alone has drastically extended the potential lifespan of the game for me. I haven't been playing it every day, but even as I've picked up a bunch of other racing games to fill my rotation (a couple TXRs; Super Woden Rally Edge; another go at good old GT4) I recognize why FH6 is still in the mix: it's just ridiculously, addictively fun to mess around in because the physics and environment are that appealing.

But I also get the video's point that the community feels left in the lurch: FH5, despite a lot of people hating it now, did benefit from the impression, put out by PG/dev streamers and MS, that there was a lot going on in and around it, and that there would be something at least somewhat fresh around the corner every month. It's kind of hard for me to feel that way about a game I theoretically enjoy a fair amount more when the bulk of the ambient talk around it is somewhere between disillusioned disappointment and entitled cynicism.

Yeah, dev streams just not being a thing anymore is a huge blow. At least you could tell when the devs knew an update wasn't going to go over well when they'd close chat--and, at least, they were able to tease upcoming in-game collaborations and talk about why they were a good fit for FH5. There was a genuine sense of community around Horizon Mexico, really.

I get that Fable is probably a bigger priority for PG right now, and I especially understand that we're in a period where New-to-Forza stuff is regrettably paid for rather than dropped in the Playlist for all to enjoy. But man, not even allowing Seasonal EventLab to be a part of the Playlist is gonna hurt the community long-term.

If one of the last truly enduring big-deal racing series winds up going stagnant because the devs were too distracted by trying to finish a reboot of a half-remembered franchise in a super-oversaturated elves-and-dragons fantasy RPG market, I'm going to crash the nearest D&D gathering and flip the table.

One of the features I miss a lot from FH5 is the option to create custom rulesets.

For example one of the showcased events in a playlist in the past would involve smashing Tanks to get a +1% power and if the players smashed a Cactus Pinata they get a -1% power. I've seen Rally Events featuring a Fuel rule or Drift events with custom score multipliers that would deduct a certain amount of score from colliding into a wall.

Honestly, I blame how they made all that stuff so obtuse to actually develop for why they're not around anymore!

EventLab these days is more like Forge Mode but without custom game parameters. EventLab 2.0 and EventLab Island were basically very openly "we know you don't care for custom rulesets so have a map where you can create custom tracks and terrain to your heart's content"--and now FH6 removed custom rulesets entirely so you're only left with the level design suite.

Probably why Seasonal EventLab hasn't been back--that and the question of 'okay if you can go into EventLab anywhere then how do we drop in new event pings for EventLabs.'

EDIT: Oh, so I finally took the '24 ZL1 out for a spin. It is slightly more than a rear end facelift; for one, it actually uses a dual clutch paddle shifter transmission instead of a stickshift manual, though this doesn't change its shift speed one bit on sequential manual--in fact, it has a slower 0-60 time than the 2017 ZL1 by a full sixth of a second. It also has its multimedia screen on. But I'm pretty sure that's about it; even the engine in the engine bay is the exact same LT4 that all the sixth-gen ZL1s have.

Honestly, if they'd made it accelerate quicker than the stock ZL1, then I could see it having a purpose, but other than that, it plays almost identically to the 2017 ZL1.

The ZL1 auto transmission is a torque converter based transmission, not a dct. Technology has come a long way though.

Glad some people are using it. I collected it but haven't given it a spin yet.

Mystified that this didn't count as the location, but no matter, I liked it as an image.
