Just dawned on me that we're coming up on the 10 Year Anniversary of Horizon 3...

Horizon 3 Anniversary Series Update when PG?

Would be a great time to bring this beauty back (and heaps of Australian cars, obviously)

Volvo has so many interesting cars in it's history. Like besides the obvious licensing I have no idea how the Iron Knight isn't a first round pick for every game.

Conversely, also good for the disposal of the AI 😄
I managed to give the sligthest of nudges to one of the AI in the second race, which sent him into 2 other AIs and sent all 3 of them down the shadow realm, meaning we humans won quite handily. Not my finest moment when it comes to sportsmanship, but they're machines so it doesn't matter... I hope?

How is the game faring so far on Series X? Worth picking up? I heard the car sounds were updated. Is the volume finally right, as in nice and loud, especially in chase view?

I wish when you check eligible cars for a race, it wouldn't limit it to just the ones in the correct class.
We were very confused by the microcar race only showing the MG Metro, Sierra and Nomad.

Especially when there isn't even a specific car type class called Microcars.

So my first trial of the week... My team lost the 2nd race but this player decides I can't be faster than him so he rams me out of the checkpoint at the start of the 3rd race.

Is this an ego thing? That losing the trial is worth it since he still ended behind all the AI despite doing this.

Time to paste that pinned Discord comment I had from 4 years ago:

The game’s design encourages this behaviour unfortunately.

Players are incentivised to get desperate through the fact that races are short, wins are expected and players start from halfway down the grid.

Let’s say you start P8.

In a 3 lap race you are expected to be 1-2 seconds a lap faster than everyone if you want to win.

Most people aren’t, especially against “Unbeatable” AI.

Therefore the only way to catch up is to yeet into corners, use other cars as obstacles and hope you come out on top. Single player doesn’t discourage this behaviour with ghosting or penalties, and that is where behaviour is trained.

It doesn’t matter if they are human or automated, red or blue, it’s of zero consequence to the player doing the yeeting.

All of this on top of the fact that players are never taught how to race cleanly or “drive properly”, this isn’t the kind of game where that sort of onboarding featureset makes sense as it can come across as “work”.

<:fh5:853700074822959127> is not a racing game, nor is it designed to function as one; it’s a car-based MMO that just to happens to have races in it. Once you can accept that you’ll realise why the quality of racecraft in the game is so poor.

If you want good racing, you won’t find it with randoms. Team up with a bunch of people from here instead and take all the human spots in a Trial lobby. Maybe do it after <:crm:505753539457581077> ends or group up before it starts each week. That way you’re with a bunch of semi-competent people at the very least.

Go to Advanced and you filter it there.

I genuinely had no idea it even did this, I never really pay that much attention to that screen. I imagine there are a lot of casual players who also don't realise!

I wouldn't even be that mad if it was a 90 degrees turn and getting dive bombed into the snow due to poor driving/braking.
This was the 2nd checkpoint of a rounded turn where you would normally be exiting with grip and accelerating, but this guy just went at me like a missile for whatever his reason.

We need greatly expanded Volvo content, IMO. I also miss playing FH3 so much. That's been the standard of fun I've judged almost every racing game against since it came out.
