Since my first post about vintage FIAT paint replications was apparently appreciated... Have more 500 colors. God, I never could have imagined FIAT had so many paints in their touch-up catalogue at any point in their history. As per usual, all the colors have been observed and ajusted in various lighting conditions to ensure they look just like the real deal.

Here's a page of Isuzu Bellett colors. They are (in order of hue, saturation and brightness):
Narushisasu Yellow: 16R 24L 96R
Gray Sharuburuu: 20L 11R 61L
Roman Red: 1L 85R 37L
Baby Brown: 10L 65L 60L
Black: 64L 94R 6R

You'll have to forgive my incomplete translations of the first two colors. I can give you a transliteration, but I can't quite figure out what western word they're trying to say.

I promise I didn't forget about FIAT paints. Those are the last of the yellows... Next batch, it will be the green(-ish)s. Or at least, part of them.

I did a little research into the Gulf racing livery, and this is what I've found. First, read this short article. The author describes why it's such an iconic and successful color scheme, and well as some background into how it came to be. It was designed by a British paint company called Llewellyn-Ryland, and the color are called 3707 Zenith Blue, 3957 Tangerine, and 3748 Navy Blue (for the dividing line between the other two colors). You can see all three of those colors on the Llewellyn-Ryland website (as well as many other excellent colors).

It looks to me like the colors work out to:
3707 Zenith Blue: 55R hue, 29R saturation, 99L brightness
3957 Tangerine: 7L hue, 100R saturation, 100R brightness
3748 Navy Blue: 61R hue, 71R saturation, 53L brightness

If anyone wants to double-check those colors, please feel free.

Here they are applied to my X999 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale traveling at 250mph:

Wonderful! It looks to me that you finally nailed the colors of the Gulf livery. Just to avoid things getting too exciting, here's a new batch of old FIAT paints.

I'm definitely going to put Verde Scuro on something soon. What do the 3-disgit numbers before the names mean?

They're the FIAT paint codes. I felt the need to include the paint code because some colors share the same name as they were often changed to better suite the taste of the customers or, rather, to simply cost less (like the three Verde Chiaro: the 362 was offered from July to December 1957, the 363 from December 1960 to February 1963, and the 372 from July 1957 September 1960 - which means that yes, for a short period of time, the Fiat 500 was available in two different shades of the same color!)

As for the Verde Scuro, I'm having doubts. It appears that the references in my possession depict another color in place of the actual FIAT paint of that name, which apparently is a dark emerald green. As a matter of fact I'm almost entirely sure it's actually Grigio Medio. I'll have to see if I can figure it out.

Dammit! That's the best idea ever! I've run into a few colors where there were differences between years or models sometimes and never thought of including the color code. Now I have a bit of work to do to update the files....

You planning on doing any other manufacturers?

It depends. Right now I'm doing the paints used in the 500 because I happened to stumble upon some good sources (namely, some old FIAT catalogs and brochures a relative of mine had lying around and I had a chance to consult, and other similar documentation from an Italian model car manufacturer, Brumm) and couldn't pass up the chance (although I lack any material for several years, including 1960 - thus my blunder on the Verde Scuro). And besides, it felt quite sad to me that the Abarth was only available in white, although it's quite accurate.

I'm thinking about doing the 131-era FIAT colors; I may do some vintage GM and Chrysler paints, but I know if I'll get there I'll try to do every single paint they offered in the last 50 years, which may end up being a bit too much.

I'll also do HRE colors sometime in the near future.

I found this small set of 1958/9 Porsche paint chips and decided to try them out.

Hey, look, 1959 Peugeot colors. Of course there are Peugeots in this game, I thought. This is a game set in France, why wouldn't there be any Peugeots, especially since they've been in every single FM and FH game previously. Ha ha ha. What a silly idea thinking there aren't any Peugeots.

Sigh.

All right, on with the Renaults.

Can @Populuxe Cowboy or @ClydeYellow do some current/old Maserati colors since we're getting a new Maserati in the FAF DLC?

A legit request, since the Ghibili is offered in an all-new range of colors and besides, it is entirely possible that it will only be available in the color of the car that will appear in the new FAF movie.

I guess it won't be hard to replicate the colors used for the GranTurismo with the tried and true bonnet-matching method. For older paints... I'll have to see if I can find some brochures.

Time for a new update, using the paint chips for the 1958 Nash Metropolitan.

Notice anything interesting about that Javelin? Look at the front of the front fender. There is a bright patch that doesn't change, no matter the color or lighting. It looks to me like it corresponds to where the T-stripe wraps over the hood.

Don't have a pic atm since I'm on my phone but I've come up with a very close replica of Nissan's Millennium Jade.

Using the metallic paint the settings are as follows:

Base
Hue. 37l
Saturation. 06r
Brightness. 32r

Flake
H.. 36r
Sat. 16l
Bri. 62l

Feel free to tweak this and repost it if you can get any close. I love this color so the more accurate we can get the better.

I would like to know what could match the Nitrous Blue color on the new Focus RS.
16fordfocusrs_01_hr.jpg

or the Green Envy color on the Fiesta ST. The green on the Fiesta in FH2 doesn't look quite right to me.

You got the colors ready? I'm glad we can paint the maserati.
Sorry, I haven't had time to look into it yet. I'll do a little research this weekend and get something for you. Mind you, these are going to be regular, non-metallic colors. I'm really not sure how to do metallics yet.

To do metallic colours your best to use the green flake paint then adjust the base and highlight colours in FH2 same as FM5. Probably make sure the highlight colour is white or try vice versa to experiment. I've been experimenting how to do pearl a pearl white and metallic gunmetal grey similar to the Nissan Skyline GTR 2000 '71 in the picture a few posts above.

@RandomCarGuy17 It's a called a HD Green Envy Metallic Tricoat. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BN0XESG/?tag=gtplanet-20. Also heres the paint code. HD Green Envy 3C. Part no# PMP19500-7278A. Source https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.com/main/quickref/paint.pdf. Plus I found this useful because maybe you could use this to make more of an accurate colour in Forza although I don't know how but would love to know myself. http://www.britpart.com/paint-pens. This link says the paint consists of a base coat colour, pearl coat colour and a clear coat which is just a typical transparent colour?. So how do we translate this into Forza? I would like to know because I like this paint too.
