Time will tell how it feels as Turn 10 has historically talked a big story about their physics. Now comparing their old tire model to their new one today we see the old tire model was pretty bad but back in the day Dan told us it was the most advanced thing since real tires lol. I hope they get it all right and Forza Motorsport gets much closer to being an actual sim. PD took several steps forward with GT7 on the handling front, perhaps Turn 10 will too.

The guy just admitted how imperfect Forza Motorsport 7 was and a lot of people were killing themselves on the forums saying FM7 is a simulator. This show of how cars behaved on curbs should shut these people up.

Does being imperfect mean it is not a simulator? Does that mean ACC wasn't a simulator? or RFactor? or PC1 or any game that keeps getting physics updates ?

People love FM4 as the peak of the series, but it feels dead compared to FM7. These always get better with newer hardware, player feedback, or design choices. Like how many times has GT7 updated the physics since launch?

Vast majority people have always called this (and GT) a simcade.

This.

Calling Forza Motorsport a racing sim isn't any more ridiculous than calling Gran Turismo a sim. They're simulation-ish. In their defense, though, they're a simulation compared to 97% of racing games on the market. Someone that's only played Need for Speed or The Crew might step into GT or FM and feel like it's a simulation, and would seem as such from their perspective having only played arcade racers.

We've always said it's a progression setup: If players enter the car game world through arcade stuff, which many do, they can then move on up to GT or Forza. If they want even more they move to more dedicated race simulators and buy themselves a wheel setup.

Furthermore, once someone has moved on up to serious sim racing with a wheel, they need to accept that Forza and GT will lose out. This is one of the issues on GTPlanet, with guys who race more seriously coming back to GT or Forza and being frustrated with their limitations. But the truth is that they are transitional games - you play them when they are what you like, but you should leave them behind when you move on. There are plenty of other people just entering this transition behind you when you leave.

One thing which needs to be said about Forza is just how much effort and quality work they do in keeping the game really playable on controller. For most console gamers, who have no desire whatsoever to own a wheel, Forza or GT physics realism is probably their limit in terms of controller playability. Forza in particular does such a good job of keeping things playable even if you have poor controller skills that it meets the needs of the mass market beautifully (shiny graphics, great set of cars, plenty of tracks and layouts to drive, good controller support).
