my only let down on this update were 2 about the cars

i wish they had the stock starlet as well, not just the time attack one, also the mustang challenge

the lack of spec series cars vs other racing games kinda annoys me, i am still waiting for the 86 cup and have no interest on GT3

I had now saw or at least noticied someone poting the update notes so here is for some that want to see them in a single image form

Having playtested this update, and been under NDA, I'm so happy to finally being able to share my excitement publically. So many goodies for us to play around with!

T10 have been on the right track for a couple of months now with their updates, but this feels like a turning point. Still far from perfect but a BIG step in the right direction!

Also, I saw this video with HokiHoshi tonight and I think he's right. Forza needs to lean into its heritage, from all the earlier games, just like Gran Turismo always has been doing.

Fujimi Kaido - wow. Having never played anything earlier than FM5 I had no prior experience with or nostalgia for this track but wow. Just brilliant fun and feels like the product of a real labour of love. I've had a crack in two cars thus far, my bone-stock VN Group A Commodore first up to try to get a sense of the flow of the road, and while it wasn't quick on the uphill sections with stock power, it was plenty forgiving to throw into the downhill corners with big, friendly lift-off oversteer moments.

And then I upped things a bit by taking my old Matra out for a spin. That thing sounds absolutely brilliant on throttle in the tunnels down the back half of the course and I'm just having a blast trying to figure out where the track's many little "gotcha" kinks and crests are.

And I haven't even gotten to the new cars yet! Or the revised steering, or AI...

Fantastic work Turn 10!

Thanks to you and all the insiders for keeping this under wraps and not spoiling the surprise. I had a few races just now and it's really eerie the way AI cars don't hog the line around corners or brake check in awkward places now. Spotter girl is a lot more precise with her penalty callouts although she sounds a bit more robotic.

I was lukewarm about the Fujimi announcement but now I'm playing it I can see where all the effort went into its development. Can't wait to see it in a variety of weather conditions and at different times of day. I've only tried the Pantera out of the new cars but it's quick and responsive around the track's many bends.

Although I have yet to hear any of my favourite FM music from yesteryear ("Legendary Ratio", "Paris-Rouen") all in all I'd say this update's been great for me so far even if there are no drag strips, bah (just kidding about that last part ).

mrw driving the Matra through the tunnels at Fujimi on a brand new pair of headphones

Honestly, I never liked Fujimi Kaido much. Back in FM4 it felt a bit lifeless, bland, and it wasn't all that fun to drive around either. Kudos to T10, I'm a convert now: this fantasy rendition of the Hakone Turnpike is exactly what I didn't know I needed in my Forza.

I still haven't sampled the new-and-improved AI, but already I'd say they knocked it out of the park with this update as a whole... The only two critiques that I can offer are that the Pantera GT5 comes with the US-spec plastic duckbill, and in the paint booth the Mustang suffers from an unpaintable rear bonnet and windshield banner. One is a nitpick based purely on personal preference, tho, and I'm sure the latter will be fixed at T10's earliest convenience (because they fixed similar issues on other cars, after all).

So I'm not crazy then, good to know.

That little Starlet time attack car is absolutely bonkers, it needs to be said. Really liking the Mustang and Pantera so far. Still not a fan of Fujimi as a track, but it is a gorgeous environment.

My early impressions on IA behavior are that starts are more orderly so first turn mayhem is less of a problem (unless of course you cause it). Also, when they commit to their line and yours is better for the overtake, they won't do anything unreasonable like trying to brake check or cut/push off. Still, there are instances of too many errors that results in one or many cars going off on the same spots, and they are still afraid of Eau Rouge.

And full attack/defense like in Grid Legends (those buggers can run) or even FH5 is still a pipedream.

Why they don't just record a professional driver that's not doing anything right now except goofy commercials like, I don't know, Checo, and feed that off to their IA?

Edit: Raising difficulty to 8 does improve things.

The few guys in here that were guessing the Furai was a little amusing, although it seems like someone almost gave it away. I figured that car would spark a lot of positive feedback FM has been needing.

I wasn't really that excited for Fujimi's return as I'm more of a racer than a hotlapper, but it is absolutely beautiful and the more I drive it the more I've been enjoying it. It has been fun running it with some of the guys in our group that never experienced it in its original form, and just trying out random things and finding some surprisingly fun cars to drive around there. Will be interesting to see what people come up with for photos there too.

The car situation I'm a little mixed on. The Acura, Z Nismo, and Audi aren't very exciting additions as they don't really add anything new feeling, and the drift cars I couldn't care much less about but then they aren't really for me. The time attack cars are cool (although I also would have preferred the base model Starlet).

The DLC pack is good value I think. The obvious star for me is the Pantera. I'm bored of GT3 cars but people will love the Mustang (although who seriously thought an unpaintable trunk was fine?), and the Furai is cool although not the most useful. The Chaser is disappointing I think, with only 1 bodykit and I don't feel like it was a car that was obviously missing or has any real natural rivals in the game but it's still a cool car, and the drift car isn't for me anyways.

I'm mainly disappointed with 2 things:

I really wanted them to make their DLC a little more focused/cohesive. I have no problem paying for more cars if they are good cars and reasonably priced, and I get the need for broad appeal to sell the packs, but I was really hoping they would have some sort of theme or something to make them feel like something truly new was added instead of just a few more toys dumped on top of the pile.

I reference back to the NASCAR update, it gave us a new division that had 3 rival cars for us to choose our favorite manufacturer, create replica paints for, and go race against each other in a new hopper, or to set up free play races with, or create new leagues with. It felt like something new to do.

I get that they have to include some of everything to maximize appeal, but I really wish the packs even just had a featured/headliner rivalry or something. Using this pack as an example, if they had also included the GT3 Corvette it would have been a big step up, reigniting the Chevy vs Ford rivalry. Pair it with a special American GT career mode that featured qualifying and pit strategy, as well as a multiclass career with road cars and the GT cars for a bit of crazy fantasy racing and highlight the new AI updates, and set the multiplayer GT3 hopper to rotate to American tracks for the month, and it would feel more cohesive/complete.

The other thing I'm disappointed with is that we didn't receive anything in the way of communication about a roadmap or what the future holds for updates or the missing features that were talked about before.

This has been my garage from week one of release:

But to be fair to T10, this was meant to be a fresh start for the series, after it was criticized for becoming stale.

I wish they had broken protocol for this update and not locked the new tour, you know, strike while the iron is hot.
But maybe it will keep the coverage going longer. (they did the thumbnails just as I had hoped.)

And while personally I'd be happy with another track, I do hope their next focus for the good of the game is on adding a new permanent career. And they could do it in a way to keep players busy (if they want to keep the suits happy) so certain events only unlock after you've met certain requirements. Like using a Ferrari in an early event would unlock more Ferrari-themed events.

Although I think the team deserves a little break now, I hear the South of Italy is nice this time of year or if they want something closer to home, Rosamond, California, could be nice..

Did they finally bring some new career events without FOMO as promised?
well, yes and no

Yes because the new tour is a permanent edition, most likely will stay in its own tab.

I am a single career player myself and want older ones back in.

I believe they are coming in the 2nd half of the year, hoping the endurance series is one of them

Somehing similar happened with EA Sports WRC compared to its predecessor DiRT Rally 2.0 when they moved to piecing together callouts from shorter individual segments rather than have the co-driver commentate on an entire race or longer segments thereof.

In order to call out the exact penalty times in FM the crew chief voice actor'd have to make an individual recording for each digit and it seems harder to me to get a natural sounding voice on the composite announcements hence her Siri-like delivery.

I'm with ya stu and I wish GTPlanet had a 🙏🏽 reaction for posts.

An appropriate time for another roadmap blog post would be the end of this month, as we typically gear up for the next update around that time. Since this update is 7 weeks then at least around the halfway point they could give us what to look forward to in June and beyond. We'll see

Feels like they'll aim for the Xbox showcase or the week following it. Most active xbox games get some time to showcase upcoming stuff.

It would definitely not be a bad idea, then, to drop a Ferrari Month update with those two, some other Ferraris coming back from the grave, and Monza (or even better, Imola). Then again, that is a possibility that we've already discussed ad nauseam, isn't it?

I'd expect Update 21 to be lighter on content, tho. Perhaps now that they've built some serious momentum on that front they can coast and focus on QOL improvements and bugfixes instead...

I don't think we're going to see a roadmap anytime soon. T10 tried to get one out, and then things went pear-shaped and they missed most of the milestones they'd set there (and got predictably chewed out for it). I will be absolutely unsurprised if, going forward, their communication won't go beyond announcing big content updates (Porsche Month, Fujimi) two or three months in advance.
