On a separate note, Mike Caviezel's Linkedin says he was "recently at Turn 10 Studios, working on an unannounced AAA racing title". Now, this I find very interesting. Perhaps there was a sequel to Forza Motorsport already in the works? Was it something else entirely? Perhaps a competitor to RIDE? Or an unannounced, secretive Indycar title - which would explain why T10 was gutted all of a sudden as the Indycar videogame curse claiming yet another victim?
Or perhaps, and I'll try to be serious for a second here, T10 was cooperating closely with Playground on Forza Horizon 6, and the suits at Microsoft realized "wait a second, we already have a sound team at Playground"?

I'd say FH6 was highly likely here, considering his credentials, even without layoffs Playground would have been stupid for not trying to get Mike helping with FH6.

One of the claims I've seen come out recently is MS is ploughing full steam into pushing its AI and is using gaming as a soft target for layoffs
it is in fact confirmed by local seattle media, ms is puhsing 80bi dollars investiment in AI
Satya really sees AI as part of future of microsoft and will bet everything on it

Constantly overpromising and underdelivering is what eventually led to the current state of things, and if Turn 10 eventually gets absorbed into Playground (or they drop them alltogether with the Forza engine and opt for Unreal or whatever), well, they had it coming.
i dont blame a entire studio get cut or worse beacuse they had to hear the dumb marketing departament
who over-promisses always is the marketing departament, and usually they use the director as disquise for it

yea, bro is totally hear-saying it when he says "i am on a condition that I cant talking about it" when he dont work for the company for almost 10 years

It would not be outside of the realm of possibility for what's left of T10 to keep supporting the game until an eventual end-of-life with additional content and minor improvements, possibly with the aid of PGG
In fact PG was already supporting the game since before the launch, as some of the cars of the game were leaked in FH5 of all games

offshoring much of the asset creation process (then, weren't the 3d models for Forza already developed by a third party?)
some of the cars are indeed scanned by a third party partner that also scan cars for other partners like EA and iRacing

T10 was cooperating closely with Playground on Forza Horizon 6, and the suits at Microsoft realized "wait a second, we already have a sound team at Playground"?
They noticied they have a lot of other teams that also have in PG and then decided "why we dont make those teams work on both games?"

This once again highlights the fact that we all need to sit tight until we get official news. There's so many rumours circulating at the moment. They may very well be true, but there’s also a chance things are greatly exaggerated and blown out of proportion.

I am worried, but (very) cautiously optimistic for now.
Yea same thgout as mine, i am not been active on topic beacuse i had been just waiting and wont talk much until something official comes up or it takes 2 weeks from now (whatever comes first), if the later happens, my next post will explain what i think about this thing

---------------------------------------------------

another update, it looks that @T10ManteoMax is still active on forza forums, also he has been still taking care of the FM area of the forum, so good signal maybe?

checked the forza mainpage, it seems that the 20th anniversary series will endure until early september
i dont know if is the current update or if is about only the 20th anniversary being a FOMO event

in conrast, FH5 is showing the weekly event as usual

I've always felt that the biggest issue with Forza is how beholden it's had to be to Microsoft's whims. It's a major tent pole game for Xbox, and because of that, Microsoft tried to rush through the last two Motorsport entries and also seemingly wanted Horizon to become more of a Fortnite with cars or something. Now the whole thing is going under so their CEO can gamble with AI. Just such a shame.

It feels kind of weird to see the official Forza Motorsport account on Twitter posting about the new career mode and not adressing the elephant in the room 🤔
its a good signal notheless, but considering they are still reorganizing, it will take time until we know the future

Horizon to become more of a Fortnite with cars or something
to be fair, Horizon premise is suposed to be a open-world car sandbox with different elements since the first one
hell, the FH first DLC and FH2 biggest apeeals was the lack of walls holding you in the track

It's been re-iterated that this tour would be permanent.

This does give some signs... of hope, probably.

Does he have any fresh sources besides that one tweet or is he just trawling for clicks?
@Beezer215
I shared this video because I thought it was a bit more nuanced than all the other click-baity, doom-and-gloom-videos out there. Watch it and you'll see 😊

Let me also remind you that, although I'm worried, I dont believe any of the rumours until we get official confirmation from Turn 10.

Nick actually reached out to several different sources at Microsoft trying to get an answer, and all he got back was a complete non-answer full of corporate speach.

So yeah, all in all, I thought this video was different compared to all the other that are just quoting that one, very unreliable, source on Twitter. Hence why I shared it 😊

Studio loses half its staff, including everyone who actually creates content for the game: physics, 3D art, sounds... But people "won't believe anything until there's confirmation from T10".

I admire the persistence but, sometimes, common sense is king. What's being labeled as "rumor" is actually very much concrete. What's left of the studio is not enough to make a new game with, and Microsoft is not gonna go on a hiring spree to further develop a game which failed to meet their expectations.

They'll likely keep the game afloat until licenses expire. It might take a while until it finally dies, though. It's quite easy to keep releasing new races and giving players the illusion that work is being done behind the scenes.

I don't see any future for Forza Motorsport beyond that, though.

You waiting for them to make Forza Motorsport 2 or something?

We're not going to get an official statement from T10, are we?🙄
Perhaps there's nothing to make a statement about and it's all hot air from an unreliable source...

It is interesting that it's been over a week and neither Microsoft or T10 has commented on this matter.
It is clear that they are reorganizing stuffs, things take time and likely we wont know for a certain time
i am still that 2 week period, the social medias and forums are working as they always had been

i do agree with @Hasse 86 , i think that T10 should be more transparent and say if updates will continue or not, and if they that they game will go just under reorganiation and trimming of redundant staff

this silence doesnt help nobody and only gives ground to fearmongoring

I don't think it's out of order to wait for new news rather than churn the same old "news" over and over again.

Since this thread is getting inundated with stuff which should rightfully be in the other thread I agree that we should table that here and get back to talking about the game we have today.

I've been busy with the current featured tour (since I didn't grab the Vantage race car last time it was up). What has impressed me most is the AI. After some adjusting and using the radar properly, I found that I can comfortably race side by side with the AI for multiple corners in a row, dicing it out until one of us gets a full car length in front. It's just so much more fun than AI racing was from launch until the recent updates. Great job.

I did notice that they appear to have introduced some rubber banding. If I am gaining a decent lead by lap 4-5 then I notice the AI in second and third place tend to put in faster lap times and close the gap. I actually don't mind this, since it means you can't just chill for the final laps, you have to keep pushing.

I've been back on my Xbox Series X for the first time in a while, and just looking at it as an experience right now, FM2023 is very competent. Good graphics, good track list, good car list, decent sized single player career without too aggressive FOMO, and of course AI which still isn't perfect but is now tens of times better than it has ever been in an FM game.

When everyone talks about "live service", I would have to argue that the base game is now solid and doesn't need much tweaking. The stuff they would have been adding would probably have been cars and tracks from now on anyway.

Maybe the next Forza is combination of Motorsport and Horizon? That would be cool and new......
Actually you know what, I would love Forza Horizon with Motorsport'ish physics. For example, no rally/offroad tires would slow you down like FM2023 while you'd drive on dirt then with rally/offroad tires you could get something close to FH5 but with a harsher penalty when going back on asphalt than aforementioned game, etc. with specialized upgrades.

Problem being they usually cater to the casuals so it might not happen.

I can appreciate the work (because yes that Tsukuba probably took many weeks) but let's be serious a minute the end result is really an immersion breaker, these recreation would never replace the real thing or a properly designed and integrated track.

add to that Eventlab isn't really a seamless experience.
