I got this crap from my arse:I got this from Copilot:
Turn 10 Studios, the developer behind Forza Motorsport, was hit hard by Microsoft's July 2025 layoffs, with reports indicating that nearly half of the studio's staff were let go. The cuts affected key departments including:
- 🧠 Physics and Engineering: Core teams responsible for vehicle dynamics and simulation systems.
- 🔊 Audio: Sound design and implementation teams, crucial for immersive racing experiences.
- 🌐 Community and Live Services: Staff managing player engagement, updates, and online features.
Some sources suggest that up to 120 employees were laid off from the Motorsport side alone, and the project itself has been shuttered, with remaining staff redirected to support Forza Horizon under Playground Games.
So basically, the game pulled a Project Cars, is now complete (but not perfect) and will carry on (like a zombi).
And when I asked Copilot about the current leadership, specifically on Chris Esaki job status, I got this:
As of July 2025, Chris Esaki is no longer listed as an active employee at Turn 10 Studios. While there hasn’t been an official statement from Esaki himself, multiple reports surrounding the recent layoffs at Turn 10 suggest that the Forza Motorsport team has been disbanded entirely, with remaining staff redirected to support Forza Horizon under Playground Games.
Esaki previously served as Creative Director for Forza Motorsport, playing a key role in shaping the series’ simulation and design philosophy. His absence from recent internal updates and the lack of mention in restructuring announcements strongly imply that he was among those affected by the cuts.
So... whatever is left of the studio is probably now a full subsidiary of the new FH game.

With the amount of times I've avoided the challenge, I could've easily finished by now. 🤓Currently progressing on the Fujimi 500 Miles challenge! I'm about 55-60% done at this point. Gained about 10 driver levels in the process.
If updates were still a thing, really wish they'd make them permanent livery variants in the car list even if it means inflating it a little bit. Here's one of themView attachment 1467631
The single car approach is better as you can have all liveries and tunes on a single car and not have to worry about porting or not finding a tune for your specific variant. If updates were still a thing, really wish they'd make them permanent livery variants in the car list even if it means inflating it a little bit.
that is a suprising positive news, it means that at some scale they are working on the cars or else it wouldnt be possibleGuys, check your in game messages,turn10 gifted us indycar liveries
I wouldn't hold out too much hope on that. The liveries are created by a community member (in this case, PTG StuziB 85) and then somebody at Turn 10 gifts them out to everyone.that is a suprising positive news, it means that at some scale they are working on the cars or else it wouldnt be possible
I 100% understand why this is the case, but it is interesting to me how the Pato O'Ward livery is missing the VELO sponsors, which have regular McLaren logos in their place.Guys, check your in game messages,turn10 gifted us indycar liveries:
Honda
Herta #26
Palou #10
Rahal #15
Chevrolet
Newgarden #2
Rossi #20
O'Ward #5
... since Turn 10 is disturbing...
Y'know, I think I'll let that typo stay.
Exactly my thought! If Turn 10 was toast, you'd have to believe they'd have made a statement by now about it. They could still be toast but every day that goes by means that it's more likely that there is a big restructure. I personally don't see any reason to just abandon a franchise that has been successful. They said they were in this title for the long haul. This is obviously a setback.
It could be worse, they could have shut it all down. They didn't. There's a reason for that.
I'm still hoping and betting that we will see some of those exact tracks you listed.
I can't wait for the next Horizon game to have the driver characters have too many fingersI think the plan from Microsoft is for AI to take up the lack of staff. Can't see that one ending well though.

the only thing that corpo cares nowadays is if the stock market will react positivlly or notWhen I was working there (MS not T10) it did surprise me how little the higher ups (skip level managers etc) seemed to realize how things like layoffs and restructuring affected day-to-day morale. It wouldn't surprise me they figure this exact thing and assume the rest that are still employed are going to stay just as productive as they were before, when in reality, when these layoffs happen, productivity grinds to a halt, and everyone is miserable, even those that keep their jobs.
