I am debating on if I should get that DFGT at Bestbuy for 149.99. I cannot afford a G27 Actually I cant even afford the DFGT lol, but I got about 80 dollars in gift cards. I have some personal money to use but really I shouldn't.

SO to help my decision, how good is the force feedback on the DFGT like will i feel the car hitting the grass, rear losing traction? Basically can i really feel the car? Is it really worth it?

Also are the brake pedal that so easy to press down with just my pinkie finger? or is there some pressure?

BTW this is my first wheel for GT series, transitioning from controller.

I used to have Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback for the PC many years ago for GTR, and it wasn't that so well, so I'm kinda worried that if i got the DFGT putting me closer to broke status and the wheel turns out to not sasitfy me.

I recently picked up the DFGT for $100 from Fry's electronics. I'd suggest you buy it from Amazon for 99.99. Don't pay $150. The forcefeedback is really good for the amount you'd be paying. It's much better than using a controller. I personally put up better lap times with the wheel set to FFB 6.

well yeah but my gift cards work only at best buy.. so there is 80 dollars worth sitting for best buy. I dont have a whole 100 bucks to play with, well i do but just cant right now and want to improve my time for GT Academy.

I highly recommend the DFGT wheel. It seems to be within your budget (just pay your bills first, LOL) and is a really solid wheel.

I only can compare this wheel to the MS wheel I have for xbox, and it is light years ahead of the MS wheel.

I wonder if BestBuy price matches? cause other places sell it for cheaper, I got mine at Gamestop of all places for 139.oo

It's worth it, and IMO the best entry level wheel you can get, but won't guarantee you'll win GT Academy lol.

The feedback will provide much more information than you are getting with the DS3. The brake pedal is easy to push, but not annoyingly so. There are sponge/squish ball or bungee straps mods you can do for cheap that help if it bothers you.

It also depends on how long you plan on playing Gran Turismo, if you're the type to move on to the next big game in a month, then you might be better suited saving your gift cards for future games.

Above all ... please know your priorities. If you shouldn't be spending money on this on top of your gift cards now, then wait and save up the money. Alright, dad lecture over lol. :)

Love my DFGT. That said, I've never used another racing wheel. But it is far better than I had expected. I in fact also got it from Best Buy because I had some gift cards and hadn't used them for a while since I buy everything on amazon, but the DFGT was sold out on Amazon for a while after GT5 came out.

I just got myself a DFGT and i'm loving it so much better than a controller,i even made the jump from auto to manual .Its much more fun.Starting to get used to it now, might take some getting used to but once you do i'll doubt you'll want to go back to controller.

Go for it!!! The giftcards totally sweeten the deal.

Ok for general driving but for for precision control when drifting etc forget it, it's too slow compared to the more expensive wheels

Best buy will price match but not with online dealers. If you can get a print ad from Frys or elsewhere it could save you a few bucks. I got my wheel at Frys for $99.99

The gas pedal pressure is crap, other than that, it's great.
First wheel I've tried since PS1, because they were so bad back then I swore them off.
But I guarantee you'll be faster after a week or two with it, if not almost immediately.

Ok, I got couple customers to visit for work, then heading to best buy and stand and stare at the box and see how big the flame burns in me to make me just grab the box and go to the pay counter, leave the store with guilt and regrets. get home in hurry, plug it to my ps3 and hope the regret and guilty disappears lol

The wheel is good and it’s well built, but one criticism I have is the lack of feedback you get when you understeer, I never had this issue with my Logitech Wingman Formula force wheel on the PC whilst playing GP2,3 and 4.

IMO GT5 is miles away from providing the feedback that those games did.

Still, I recommend it over the controller.

Geoff Crammond is a legend.

They only price match with other best buys. If you see an item at another best buy store they will match their price. As crazy as that sounds it's true. I just checked their site.
by the way,I hate best buy.

BB will put it on sale for $99.99 every once in awhile - if not this week, maybe next week as part of an after Christmas sale. It is worth $99, but not $150!

It was on sale at $99 last week at Best Buy, before that it was on sale the week of November 2nd. They'll probably have it on sale again in a few weeks.

The FFB from the DFGT is really good imo, but only with proper software, i.e PC sims.

GT5 just lacks in all areas of feedback, its lacking in detail and includes some canned effects, most noticeable with gravel driving.

So if you will also use the wheel with PC then definitely get it, if just for PS3, its a waste imo.

They'll price match other stores.

They price matched K-Mart when they had F1 2010 for $40 and all I had for proof was a printout of the web page.

But as with all price matches, it's really up to the manager/employee that's on duty. You can get a total wiener who won't do it because your left eyebrow is shorter than your right.

Well good news is that a friend works there and said with her discount she can get it for 94 bucks, so with my gift cards it is 14 plus tax out of my pocket! But gotta wait until 11pm for when she gets off.

The FFB is really good. I'm a wheel newb and just recently made the dive and got a DFGT. What I found neat is the feedback you get from the tires, you'll feel them fighting for grip and then when the traction is lost all the FFB goes and you know you've lost control. I kinda dug that, definitely added more to the immersion of the game.

Someone lied to you:

If you find a lower advertised price on the same available brand and model prior to your purchase or during the exchange and return period, we will match that price. Simply bring in the ad of the local retail competitor or Best Buy, while the lower price is in effect and receive your price match.

So I got it! Wow what a huge difference! Its gonna take some time to get used to it! Its totally different and i spun out for sure a lot on the first few tries! But after 5 laps I am starting to get hang of it but still need more work, I'm loving the throttle control much more control there now than having to use the button or the stick which does not have much of feeling and control. One thing I dont like is that the gas pedal is really senstive for the touch, I mean a light touch can put out 1/4 throttle. The brake is nice, wish there were more pressure.

I noticed that i have to really grip and turn as fast as I can when the rear breaks loose too much! I was too afraid that i would break the force feedback mechanicism or flip my heavy table over LOL So I'm getting the confidence there that i wont break the wheel or flip my table when the rear breaks loose!

What is your FFB settings? I have it on 5 and do you use power steering assist? I have that off. But i think it should be on because most of all cars have power steering. The button on back of wheel for shifting is small, I think I might try and figure out if I can make a custom flapper. Has anyone done that?

Ok back to more practice for 15 mins which probably will extend to a hour or more lol I gotta sleep!

EDIT: I got 1:08.334 on my 8th lap on the Tsukuba for the GT Academy, thats just a little under 1 second slower from my controller best time of 1:07.563. So not bad for start, more practice I will hopefully do much better.

Strange thing about BB and many stores for how they allow price matching and stacking of coupons is.....it changes from person to person depending on who you are dealing with, how persistent you are and how nice you come across. Don't know what their policy is, but they have priced matched other stores (non-BB) for me. Also, had one store refuse to stack coupons....go to another store and they didn't even blink an eye and allowed it.

Best wheel for the price. The force feedback realism is rubbish but i think thats due to gt5 not the wheel. 2009 TT seemed to be better.

The pedals are total POS.
WHeel is really noisy as well.

That said using wheel itself is awesome IMO, Iv'e really grown accoustumed to it.

I'm thinking about a DFGT myself. Do you have to mount it on something or can it just sit on top of a table or similar?

The feedback is really strong I have it set to 1 with power steering. The wheels allows you to feel the grip build or disappear. The pedals need the squash ball mod to feel "right".
