Hello,
I’m considering buying Project Motor Racing on PS5 because it's on sale.
Can anyone confirm the frame rate on PS5 and PS5 Pro? (I play on both consoles)
Is the game capped at 60 FPS, or is there any 120 FPS or high frame rate mode? (VRR)
Are there graphics options on console, such as Performance / Quality mode? (Or texture quality like Project Cars 3)
Also, are replays capped at 30 FPS?
Thank you very much.

After buying the game myself, I can answer my own questions.

On both my PS5 and PS5 Pro, there are no graphics options at all. No Performance/Quality mode, no texture quality settings like Project CARS 3, and no 120 Hz/high frame rate mode. The game appears to be 60 FPS.

Unfortunately, the much bigger issue is the frame pacing. While the frame rate often reads as 60 FPS, the constant micro-stuttering makes it feel far less smooth than it should. It’s especially noticeable while driving and completely ruins the experience for me.

I’ve also experienced audio distortion from the engine sound on PS5, which makes things even worse.

I honestly regret buying the game. In its current state, I find it unplayable and unacceptable for a racing game released in 2026. I really hope the developers address these issues in a future update, but as of today I can’t recommend it.

Until yesterday, I didn't experience how bad it was with rain. Using the V8 Supercars at Sebring, it was random sun showers on a wet track. Time was normal for a 10 minute race, 16 cars. That was the worse I experienced. Slowing down like a 16-bit game on slow motion. Stopped the session after about three laps. Thought it would get better, but didn't.

I won’t be launching the game again until the developers explicitly state in the patch notes that the PS5 version is now running smoothly, with the stuttering issues fully resolved.

At the moment, the stutters are frequent enough to ruin the driving experience for me, so I’ll wait for official confirmation before giving it another try. I hope they’ll address this soon, because I’d genuinely like to enjoy the game.

SMS did the same thing with PC2... they always prioritized bugfixes and development on the PC, and consoles were always waiting weeks to months for them to get rolled out on console.

The trouble with that was, they always struggled for respect and players on the crowded sim market on PC, up against highly respected and popular titles like iRacing or rF2, modded AC and AMS1. But console was the market where PC2 had the 'serious' sim market pretty much to itself. And most PC sims looked at GT's player base with envy. It's got a HUGE player base.

Console always seemed an afterthought to SMS, and they chased a market they were never going to get. But now, with supposedly cross-platform racing a possibility, again off they go prioritizing PC development, ignoring the lessons of Project Cars.

Personally, I think if they drop the PC version completely, and put 100% of their resources into console, they might give GT a run for its money, particularly with cross-console lobbies possible. And that's a market games like AMS2 and rF2 can only DREAM about!

Thing is, if S4S got console nailed down for PMR, it would be a doddle to go the other way and release later for PC, with bugs squashed and a huge player base. But not the other way round...

I agree with your main point, although I wouldn’t go as far as dropping the PC version.

Console versions simply need to be treated as first-class products, with dedicated optimisation and testing. PS5 and PS5 Pro are fixed hardware platforms, so consistent performance and frame pacing should be achievable.

I’m not asking for console to get features before PC. I just expect the PS5 version to maintain its performance target without stuttering, especially in a racing game where smoothness directly affects driving.
