Free Carfax type service?

My dad sold his old Chevy Blazer a few months ago, and I just want to know what happened to it without spending money just to learn its trashed now. (And it probably is)

This could also help me. My car had just been imported from the US when I bought it earlier this year. But I don`t know anything (nothing) about the previous owners. I have the names of a few of them but I don`t know who they were and what they did to the car. Would a car that hasn`t been registered in the US since 2009 still show up on carfax or a similar service? I know the car has been in a minor accident a long time ago. If the number we found on a shipping label on a part of the bumper is the printing date, then the car was crashed in 1986... But I`m not sure.
