Pro5 Computers hosting provides you with the latest technologies. Our Apache Servers support ASP.NET, ASP, PHP, MySQL, etc. Each website recieves 500 MB of space and unlimited bandwidth. Invision Power Board and Invision Power Dynamic Lite is an optional software that will be automatically installed.

Sorry, but we are currently redoing this service.

Well i've used them for a month, apart from a problem in late september and early October with their severs being affected by hurricanes in Florida(now moved to texas) they're great(Example). and the control panel is easy to use (Here)
I've also noticed that my storage space isn't being used up, which can only be good.
small advertisements on free accounts.
Web uploader can do 5 files at a time, no file type limit 500k upload limit.
It needs re-newing every year, but thats not a problem.
I give it a thumbs up 👍 👍 👍
I have it mainly because of the forum capability.
It is free (forgot to mention that)

You really have to keep this list up to date. Oh and is it possible to make a section for just storage. To host videos, images, that kind of stuff thanks

UPDATE:

You have to update and add to your site every 30-60 days. In my excitement for my own domain, I let it slip. So they deleted it.

http://www.portland.co.uk (and it's sister site) http://www.port5.com

Select the "Free Hosting" Option. It's not intended for domain names, but you do get a 3rd-level domain.

I've only noticed one moment of downtime; I checked back in an hour, and they were back up. 15MB isn't bad, but no ads, 150MB monthly bandwidth, FTP, and few other things like cgi-bin which I never use are also available. They don't spam your email address either.

My only quibble is that FTP used to be a little dodgy, but I haven't had an FTP problem in about a year now.

Update: FTP is down if you don't modify/add to your site frequently enough.

Oh dear, people actually use this thread! Ok from now on (tomorrow when I sort through this) I'm going on a search for decent webhosts and anything with ads will not be included.

These two still work:

Where are you getting all of the traffic from? What 10 links should be removed?

I am getting all the traffic from GTP members and other members that visit my site. The 10 links on the first page of this thread.

My 2nd suggestion, though its not an automated sign-up, its better.
This is what you get:

Before you get any hosting, you need to register here on the forums and make 2 posts for us in the community. One is your introduction post, the other your request post. Your request post should be a new topic in the hosting requests forum and contain the following:

1. Indicate that you have read and understnad the terms of serivce
2. tell preferred subdomain
3. resources you might need (bandwidth, disk space, database, scripts)
4. indicate any other people that will be working on this project
5. tell what you will be using your database for (link to the script)

You wouldnt give hosting out to people you dont know right? Well thats the purpose of the introduction post. In the introduction post (in a new topic made in the introduction forums) you need to state each of the following:

1. tell email
2. hobbies, etc.
3. what you will use hosting for
4. Tell the subject of your project
5. Tell about previous sites/projects youve done (if any)
6. Any coding language/computer skills you have
7. Anything else

You noticed up there how I talked about saying you read and understand the TOS, well TOS stands for terms of service and are the rules of me and my webhost. Gotta follow the rules ^_< The rules are as follows:

1. NO SPAM! Your site cannot send out uncolisitced commercial email or be advertised by others sending out unsolicited commercial email.

2. Your site must be active, updating info at least once a month is a very good idea. (Why give out something that isnt used?) I wont abruptly delete your site or anything, but if i run into a bandwidth crunch, those sites that havent been used will be the first to go.

3. No adult content. I refuse to host any site like that for personal reasons. I also frown upon links to such content, so please watch what you link.

4. No media download centers. I dont want my site space and bandwidth sucked up by people who want to host music video sites or could possibly get me sued for copyright infringement. Putting up music on your site is ok, just so long as it isnt over-done and it is legal to do so.

5. No warez, hacks, cracks, roms, or links/how to's for such things. This isnt a personal policy, but rather one of my webhosting company.

6. No chat or IRC. Once again this is a policy of my webhost.

7. No sites that promote hatred or violence of any kind.

8. No sites that disguise or otherwise remove any copyrights will be tolerated.

9. Anime sites are not allowed. This is a policy of my webhost and not my own. Discussion of anime is still allowed but there cannot be any images or other media that relateds to any anime that is not your own property.

10. I do not build websites and only offer limited support. There are 2 reasons behind this. First, im not good at making sites, secondly, I dont have all that much time to be making sites. If you want links to site making software, Ill be glad to show ya. Feel free to ask for support from the community here but theres no guarantees.

Well now that you knwow hat you cant do, lets get into what you DO get.

1. 100 Mb Space

2. Unmetered Bandwidth (dont get too crazy or i will be forced to change this)

3. A free subdomain (either yourname.shockv2.com or yourname.shockv2.net) Using url maskers like .tk and .chb.net is ok.

4. Your own ftp account

5. A MYSQL database of unlimited size

6. Site submission to search engines

7. Anything else you need so long as it fits within the terms of service ^_^

Thats it, no ads, no catches, no fees, all of this basic stuff is absolutely free. (though a link back to these forums is appreciated somewhere on your site)

I hope these terms arent too rough on anyone and I hope that we can keep adding sites to our ever growing network!
You'll see that you need an FTP.
But considering that its decent, 100Mb should be enough for most, but theres chances to earn extra space etc.
Shockv2.net
Also, if you don't mind, say that impreza04 referred you, because I get site space.

  • Advantage Host
Beware of the newsletters and the fact your details are given to 3rd parties (read the fine print), as you have to signup for them to keep your hosting alive. Do so with an extra email account, you can get Gmail accounts from the Gmail Spooler.
FTP, 25gb bandwidth, 500mb web space, CGI, Perl, PHP, 5 MySQL Databases.

  • You should remove this one, its a con, you need to sign up with Virgin Pay as you Go Dial up before it will let you join. I wouldn't bother.
