I'm having some pretty much game breaking freezing issues and i was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences and if they were able to resolve it..

Happens mostly in seasonals and in A-spec..it locks right up pretty much right at the exact same spots on a few races..about 30 secs in..usually right around the first checkpoint.. i have tried to..

- re-install
- reset ps3 to factory settings
- disable personal bgm
- play offline
- i thought maybe it was my driving force wireless..same thing happens with controller..
- called sony customer support (really wasn't any help at all)

its really starting to piss me off.. i bought the wheel just for gt5 and i would really like to buy the DLC but whats the point if the game is freezing on 85% of the races i try?

Also it does not freeze in Arcade Mode..

so im pretty stumped and frustrated..any kind of help is much appreciated
:)

Try cleaning your disc and also get a blu-ray drive cleaner (Memorex, the brushless one with the two holes in it) and run that through. I was having pretty much the same problem. If you have never clean your ps3 drive, you may have to take it apart and clean the lens with a cotton swab and alcohol. Pretty simple to do but it will void your warranty, just fyi.

No, its not hard at all. There is some good videos on youtube that show how to do it. I smoke and so the smoke does get inside and clouds up the lenses. There are two lenses inside, one for blue-ray and one for dvd. The smaller on is the blue-ray. Just be careful when swabbing it to not press on it too hard. Hope it helps.

Another option is to access the hidden PS3 menu

1.put PS3 in standby
2.power up and keep your finger on till it goes back into standby
3.hit power again and keep finger on till you hear 2 quick short beeps then release the button.
4.it will ask you to attach controller USB cable, then it should display the menu, you want option 4 which is "restore file system" basically this repairs any corrupt files on your HDD it does not delete any files so dont worry.

The whole process should take approx 5 minutes, hope this helps 👍

I had 2 crashes at Spa so far. The screen freezes and the sound loops continuosly.

It def helps. Ps3 is so insanely user friendly.

I'm having MAJOR trouble! My old 60gb PS3 overheated recently i got a new 160gb slim ps3. I installed the updates and it went fine, everything took as long as it should. Then i had to install the data... which took 5 hours to not do anything the first time. i stopped and played it without it. I noticed it froze trying to install grand valley after canceling the data update. I raced at other tracks that worked fine. I then deleted the game data and reinstall everything. It stayed installing at 2 seconds for 7 hours and it still did nothing so i just cancelled it. I dont what to do now, i've tried it 4 times. Any solutions? keep trying?
