I didn't have a chanch to watch the qualifying.. but I'm watching the race now.. haha I like the full slick tyres. Anyways, back on track (ha ha) I really don't like the look of the front wing for 2009. I believe it's a little unsafe, for a couple reasons. The driver can't see the wing, and If he's behind someone and they cut him off the driver in front takes off a piece of the wing. oops just saw it happen. The other problem is it's so low to the ground it could act like a plow. Anyway those are my thoughts on the subject what are yours?

P.S. IT's just a yes or no poll, no maybes, and please vote!

I don't have a vote because I'm really unsure. But I guess if I had to vote, I'd say "no" on looks alone. But really, I'm too unsure to go one way or the other.

I don't like that the drivers can't see the wing edges.

not very helpful cause of their size and height from ground, but it looks good on the cars(some of them)

Based purely on looks, I'd give it a yes. If the rear wing was as large the cars would look great, but its the rear wing that throws the looks off the car off.

Of course, looks don't mean jack if it helps the car drive ;)

Frankly, the T1 mess wasn't as bad as first thought and I think they look fine (got used to the looks now).
The real issue at the moment with most of the cars seems to be stability, with bumps really screwing the drivers over.

Also, with this last race, keep in mind the other issues effecting the drivers, such as poor light and quickly cooling tyres and brakes (thanks to the safety cars).

I don't really mind the new front wings, but like what nosturbo said, whatever makes the car drive better.

The front wings are just fine, but why are the rear wings so skinny? they kinda take away from the proportions of the car...

Because they are designed to help with the wake of the car...as has been explained many times. The design of the new aero rules is to promote helping cars behind slipstream cars in front, not fancy dress contest.

I don't like them because it appears that they are too fragile. They are too wide and too low. The only good thing that has come out is that the cars retain more front downforce when they are behind a car. I'm not sure whether that balances out the negatives or not.

Absolutely despise them. The combination of the front wing and rear wing is so out-of-proportion, all of the cars look grotesque. If the front wing dimensions had been the same as last year, the cars would look much better. Now, they look like vacuum cleaners.

Who really cares how they LOOK? They actually raced each other, as opposed to running time trials all day. That was the first F1 race i didnt fall asleep during since, since, Forever! And they are the best drivers in the world, they dont need to see it to know where its at.

The best drivers still crash and make mistakes.

But as Barrichello proved, just because you tag the other bloke, it doesn't mean you're forced to limp around the circuit. He was able to adjust the downforce on his wing, which compensated for the damage. They can afford to be a little bit rough, and while anything more than a love tap like Barrichello's will result in something like Kubica plowing into the wall, they can take a much more offensive line.

It's bizarre that the head-honchos want less aero-dependence, yet they increased the size of the front wing--something that the engineers wanted long ago, so that they could move air up and over those pesky tires for even more downforce .

They never could. The drivers sit way low in the cars. You could barely see the top 30% of your front tyres, let alone any of the front wing.

I was initially against the new look of the cars, but after seeing the race, I must admit to myself that they look fantastic in racepace! They have a sort of clean, but still agressive racing look about them, wich I find hard to reject in any way!

That was a lucky coincidence for Barrichello. They can't afford to be any rougher than in past years: If anything, they need to be gentler. The wings are now far thinner, and the middle section - the one that holds everything together - is now a very slim spec-part with skinny, fragile pylons, instead of the massive pylons and thick, ballast-equipped four-plane central sections of past years. The BrawnGP and Renault cars might be a little tougher than the others (low noses and long pylons), but certainly not more than last year.

There's a difference between size and aero-dependence. Wings are wider, yes - but they're far smaller in surface-area, and the middle section is downforce-neutral. The main reason for these rule-changes was reducing sensitivity in wake - a change which appears successful, for now - and indeed, with slightly more mechanical grip and slightly less downforce, cars are indeed less "aero-dependent".

You know what? I don't really think it matters how they look. I really think that the new aero requirements made the race much more exciting. And that's what matters.
