Well, I know a lot of people who wouldn't know what it is. Computers are mainstream, but the average user won't use FTP software unless they are running their own website.

DessViper, let me recommend Webopedia. It offers full explanations for many (obviously) web-related terms, like FTP. You might find it useful.

No, no, you didn't read my post. Pay special attention to what's in bold.

Webopedia is just a dictionary to tell you what FTP is. Basically, FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a way to log into a server on the Internet and upload/download files to it.

I tried smartftp as per Jordan and would recommend it to most people. I had to play around with it for a couple minutes but you can get the style your looking for... and it's completely free!

This was an excellent thread and provided the information so far that I was wondering about for uploading videos. Now I am going to try to set one of the FTP servers up for myself.
